Three of us sampled a number of the limited vegetarian options, the one stuffed pasta entree ordered was delicious.
Cauliflower soup, spicy; the arugula pistachio and grapefruit salad was refreshing and very tasty.
Only concern was that vegetarian options were very limited. However, we were more than pleased with what we ordered. The side of polenta was like a savory custard, almost a flan, topped with perfectly "caramelized" shredded Parmigiano. Magnifico!
Plenty of excellent bread, perfect house chianti, and mixed olives to round it out.
The dessert options seemed overwhelming and being charged by my companions with the decision, I chose the simple Meyer lemon sorbetto, stunningly smart, sour sweet and enough bitter to balance perfectly, and the vaniglia gelato, which was rich, creamy and very slightly gritty from the real vanilla bean.
Very glad to have chosen Corso for our celebration of friendship. I'm now back in the midst of a Midwestern winter, but I look forward to another meal, next time!
There are so few restaurants that have the chops to pull off what Corso does with seeming ease.
Try the tripa, it's not menudo or Pho! It's different and amazing!
Try the ravioli - I guarantee that you haven't had anything like it!
The chicken, steak, calamari, doesn't matter what we try... it's all incredible and the service to match.
The first time I ate at Corso the food and wait staff were over the top. the second time, a year later, it was good but not great. This recent time, another year later, the food was not that interesting or special, and the wait staff very average. I do not think I will be back.
We love this place! This was our 3rd dining experience at this location, and once again, we were pleased with every delicious bite. We ordered the meat/salami appetizer and it was fabulous! Also ordered was the sea bass, chicken, and a pasta dish, all we’re cooked to perfection. For dessert we ordered the delectable gourmet sundae and the sorbet, both heavenly. Even though the restaurant was crowded, with people waiting to be seated, our server never made us feel rushed. The host, however, fretted and hovered nearby, making it obvious to us that we needed to eat and get the heck out.... Regardless, we will return, and we will take our sweet time enjoying our meal.
I really wanted to like this place, but the more I think about it, the less there is to like. The food was good, what there was of it. My pork shoulder portion was just way to small. The polenta was delicious. The wine list is skewed to the expensive side, which is just out of touch with what diners want. Want me to come back? Offer more price points. Service was slow and when I asked about the A.Q. steak on the menu the A.Q. was never addressed. I think our waiter's girlfriend was at the bar so he seemed distracted.
Excellent food and service, but just too noisy. The quality of Corso's food continues to be high and I recommend it for that reason UNLESS you want to have a lovely conversation with friends while you eat. Service was sophisticated and unobtrusive. But it's just too noisy and until that changes I will look for other places when I want a nice dinner with friends.
My favorite birthday spot. We brought our own bottle of wine, $20 corkage. We started with marinated mushrooms (spot on), the liver paté (really delicious), then shared two pastas- the oyster mushroom lasagne was rich and wonderful. Then we shared the sea bass, with rapini on the side. We finished with cherry sundaes which are the best dessert in town. Then we waddled home. Happy Birthday to me!
After dining at its sister restaurant several times without a hi-cup, I thought I try Corso. The menu is interesting. I had the veal dish. Veal was close to well-done, the sauce too much, and the vegetable over-cooked. I informed my server about my disappointment with the dish and he simply told me to try a different dish, such as their chicken, the next time. What? I was starving, on a deadline to be somewhere else, and did my best to enjoy was a fair dish.
The Panna Cotta was excellent.
Service lapse. I had discussed three options with the server and it was clear I was close to choosing. The waiter said he'd bring me water and be right back to take my order. Instead he went to two tables to open up and poor wine, leaving waiting for 5 minutes. Huh?
Very disappointing. Skip it an try any other number of less expensive options in the area.
I invited my boyfriend to dinner at Corso to celebrate his birthday. Food and service were fantastic but the environment was not festive enough for the occasion. Designed and decorated as an authentic Italian trattoria, the space is non-pretentious and bare bone which is fine for everyday dining but not for a special night like the one we had hoped for. My mistake for not checking! The drinks were awesome. Food was beyond delicious and service could not have been more gracious.
Food was excellent, a beautiful room. Downsides: gets very noisy by 6:30, and I had trouble finding a white wine I liked. Ended up trying tastes of four out of the six or so white wines by the glass. I guess I just didn’t like the style of the wines they serve, which just about never happens to me. There was no hint of fruit and they were all super super dry.
Definitely warrants a return! I’ll drink red next time.
We love this cozy spot. The service is professional and friendly. The prices are a good value, especially for the really nice food. Loved the orange, about, beet and fennel salad. The smoked trout farfalle with trout caviar was beautiful. My husband enjoyed the saltimboca. And, I had the best affogato ever!
I chose this place because I wanted to try their version of the bistecca alla Fiorentina. We had it for the first time in Florence (its origin) and it was the most amazing steak I’ve ever had...and it was no more than $40. Corso’s version... flavor was pretty darn close, but they cooked it medium well despite saying it would come to us medium rare. Huge difference. Plus, it cost twice as much and it was half the weight. We ordered sides and the orecchiette too... not bad but the portions were really small and cost a pretty penny . I’m sure the ingredients weren’t THAT unique or special. Service was good.
Refined Tuscan Italian food, delicious! Recommend all the pasta dishes, especially the fettuccine with bolognese. Do not miss the baked polenta side dish, or the broccoli rabe. The desserts are all fabulous but we mostly gravitate to the panna cotta (best we have had). The atmosphere is warm and cozy and vibrant, the service is perfection.
Fabulous as always. Service is top notch. Food is delicious. The pastas, branzino, and polenta are superb. Great wine list and cocktail selection. They actually read my note in Open Table indicating we were celebrating a birthday. The last two places where I made a note completely ignored it. So kudos to Corso for being excellent!
