Who would imagine a beautifully appointed semi-funky eatery in Downtown Berkeley? Well, almost anyone who knows anything about Berkeley, would. However in my case, I discovered, with the able assist of my trusty spouse, the gem called Corso. From our first spying of the awning to the mouthwatering aroma wafting from the kitchen, we were entranced.
This mid-sized dining area, appointed with rustic, wooden tables and chairs, instantly raised the "comfortable, we want you here" vibe to 100%.
Out food was more than simply delicious, it was a tantalizing treat for the taste buds. My meal, complete with lamb sauce, was nothing short of, at least for me, a paradigm shift. My spouse had the pasta, lemon, cream sauced decadence that was a delight on the tongue.
We kept it reasonably simple with dessert, I opted for lemon sorbetto, spouse had the chocolate, warm cake which is the best way to end a meal.
Five out of Five Stars, just a lovely dining experience.

A favorite; consistently outstanding. Server, presentation, timeliness, quality, all were best in class. Menu, cocktails, wine selection great as before. My 4th time, but my guest’s 1st time at Corso. Left most favorable impression with guest, which was important given the occasion

We had an phenomenal meal at Corso. We shared two appetizers (lettuga and frittelle di baccalà ), a pasta course (the spaghetti cacio e pepe), a fish course (branzino) and dessert (pannacotta.)

Everything. Was. Amazing. Seriously. it was one of the best meals I've had in a while.

The ambiance is nice although the tables near the door get a bit of weather and foot traffic.

The bar menu was phenom, as was the wine selection. Our waiter made great wine pairing recs.

It's pricey; $170 for two with drinks and the 4 courses. But, it was truly a delectable meal. Enjoy!

Food and service were outstanding; the high noise level was the only drawback. When I go out to a nice dinner, I like to be able to talk with my dinner companions without shouting.

The staff was nice. Great location. Food was ok. Unfortunately, due to a mistake by the cook, we received an order which the server originally asked to remake for us. Instead, he returned with a different dinner combination asking "will this do?" Really?? I didn't complain as my niece doesn't like confrontation. But that wasn't ok. Especially when you're charged for the original order. Do better

Corso has the best service - attentive, warm, attuned! It’s such a pleasure. The food was perfection from salad to dessert! We love the chicken with a side of polenta, it’s our go-to but I’ve never had a bad dish. I think Corso is my favorite restaurant in Berkeley!

We so look forward to dining at CORSO. Believe we have enjoyed same five times this year alone. This eve we brought friends to enjoy your restaurant and they found it to be ten star. All of us enjoy fine vino and find your menu to always be the best in accommodating our palate with your every changing menu... fresh ingredients and an innovative menu. ALL your waitstaff are superior.
Job well done CORSO Peter and Gini Ragsdale

We enjoyed our marinated mushrooms, and the calamari was not fried, but grilled. The maltagliata was also delicious. We paired these items with a bottle of the Vernaccia for an great light meal. We will go again.

Unassuming and casual, Corso surprises your mouth more than your eyes. The flavors of the small plates are especially delightful: three cheese-filled, garlic risotto balls, lightly deep fried and set next to an aioli dip. (Foodie alert! Not to be missed) The descriptions on the menus often below the genius of the creations. Amazing creations make the simplest appetizers feel like picnic food at the Ritz. (e.g. simple mushrooms in a lemony oil.) Dessert lovers: make sure you get two of the ice cream sundaes because you will not want to share the cherries.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Berkeley. Sometimes the noise level is too high - I wouldn't say energetic but rather too loud to have a conversation. The food is always delicious.

Unfortunately my (quite expensive) streak was not really medium rare. Not was it’s replacement. Seems that my idea of “mid-rare” isn’t the same as the chef’s. I’d order it rare next time.

Pasta, wine and service were excellent; salad must have been pre-made &/or pre-dressed and consequently the Romaine was not as crisp as it should have been. Nice menu options--will definitely return and recommend to friends.
