Cornells Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our group was composed of 4 adults and a child, and we dined on a Sunday evening following a performance at Proctor's. The food was spectacular ! Unfortunately, our experience was negatively affected by the SLOW service from the time we sat down to our departure. There were 2 large groups that we could see in the restaurant, and their presence certainly (and understandably) could have affected our service. However, we were disappointed that we were left alone for long stretches of time and we never heard from a manager during our time at the restaurant. (Our server, Ben, did finally apologize for the lengthy time it took for our service, and he did follow through on a promise to "comp" a carafe of house wine and desserts. I appreciated his apology and the "comped" portions of our meal.). Appetizers of steamed clams in a marinara sauce and calamari were terrific; the calamari were cooked perfectly and the marinara for the clams was wonderfully tasty with a hint of fire. Entrees also were fantastic. A rigatoni bolognese was tasty with a generous portion of meat in the sauce; shrimp over linguini was also tasty while being less filling than the bolognese; and chicken florentine and braciole both were delicious and, accompanied by the house-made cavatelli, pleasantly filling. Portions for all the entrees were generous, and we took home a lot of food. Desserts of cannoli (one order included 2 huge cannoli!) and tiramisu were delicious. We found ourselves, while waiting, almost hoping the food would turn out to be bad so that we could tell ourselves it would be silly to return. However, the food was so good that we likely will return at some point. We simply will need to steel ourselves for slow going and hope that the food remains top notch.
Anniversary dinner that turn into hell. The start of the meal was ok even though it took over 35 mins to get it, then anther 1 hour and 15 mins to get our main meal which two of the meal the chicken parm were burnt so bad they tried to cover it up with extra sauce on it. And because it took so long to get the meal all they could offer was we did not have to pay for it, which was nice of them but it not like we were going to pay for two burnt chicken parm meals. The waitresses did not seem to care when we told her look at how burnt they are. The manager on the other hand was great. So overall a rating of one for the service, zero for the food and 5 for the manager
Wonderful food. Had a few different things from the menu and they were all good. They have homemade cavetelli, bread from Perrecas, and sorbet and gelato from a place in the neighborhood. The brasole is fantastic. The friendly staff round out the great experience. I will definitely be back.
Traditional American Italian . Nothing worth of note . Food is comparable with a dinner . Broccoli was mushy ; seemed frozen . Bread was cold . Stuffing in the steak was poor in flavor ; tasted like bread w lemon juice . For the price Delmonicos is a lot better choice .
We arrived on time and our table was not ready, heard the hostess talk to a co-worker that they miss-seated others affecting our spot, waited 15 minutes for the mix up to be fixed, were seated in a back room between two large 15+ person group tables that were exceptionally loud in an enclosed room. Waitress was prompt but after appetizers, did not see her for over 30 minutes while we waited for our food, I got up to complain to the hostess, all the while unruly kids were acting up at one of the tables. Meal finally came 45 minutes after appetizers, was warm. Very disappointing.
It was clear when we arrived that the restaurant was very busy - perhaps a larger event was happening, however that is no excuse for the incredibly poor service we experienced. We travel often and have dined often in other cities much larger than Schenectady that are busy each and every day. After placing our order it t
We thoroughly enjoyed dining at Cornell’s on a Wednesday evening. I had the Chicken Francaise, and my husband had the Scallops and Risotto. Both were delicious. We each also had a small cup of Pasta Fagiolo, and an order of Utica Greens and Beans to share, both very good. Service was personable, and efficient. We were warmly welcomed by ever staff member we encountered. Will definitely go back again, and may try their Dinners to Go.
Food was inconsistent - a caesar salad and caprese good, brussel sprouts - amazing. Lackluster calamari fritti . Pasta with chicken and broccoli rabe - flavorless. Chicken dish with prosciutto and a mushroom sauce was very good. Service was excellent - our waitress was lovely. The room was too bright and the tables were all sized for 8, even though we were 3. Looked like a banquet hall rather than a restaurant.
