We are so glad that Cornell's is alive and well. We enjoy dining there. It is hometown convenient with excellent food and service.
Celebrated my mother's 87 birthday there with family, since it is her favorite. The food and service was excellent, and the home made cavitellis are the best anywhere.
They also allowed us to bring in a cake and did a beautiful presentation with each serving.
We have dined here after every trip to Proctors shows. Always had a great experience but this one was not up to our expectations. Not sure why but we had a 7 pm reservation but did not get our food until 8:40; although not in a hurry this seemed a bit too long. Food also came out at various times for the 6 of us. Server did her best and was apologetic. Something surely was not right that night; not sure what and we hope it was an off night for some reason.
For an Italian restaurant food portions were not fair. A ravioli plate had 4 small raviolis. Service was fair.
The food was delicious and the service excellent. Good variety of entrees, particularly for someone who has difficulty deciding. We were seated in the front of the restaurant, sort of between the bar and the emergency door. Would request a different table next time as it felt a bit cramped. We'll definitely be going back.
The food was delicious. Service was a little slow. People that came after we did were waited on before we were. It took quite a while to get our food.
We went there for mother-in-law's 87th Birthday!! They did a very nice job of making her feel special.
Lovely evening with great service and delicious food
Went for Easter and had the ham. I suggest next time they slice the ham thin. Slices were too thick and touch
We enjoyed an excellent dinner at Cornell's. Everything from the soup, salad, both entrees and dessert were just wonderful. The service was great and the price was moderate. What else can
you ask for?
First time visit. Great atmosphere. Great house wine prices. House salads were good portion and very fresh although I prefer more dressing. Chicken Marsala with Rigatoni and red sauce was perfection! Homemade pasta with meatball and sausage was filling and tasty! Bill for 1 house Cabernet, 2 Peroni, 2 Dinner Salads and Two entrees only $70! Overall, great first time and we will return!
It was my son's Birthday dinner turning 19 years old, when I made the reservation the evening prior, I mentioned this to the person on the phone, she said waitresses would sing to him and he would get a piece of cake/desert. I guess it just slipped through the cracks and someone there just forgot. It's ok, we had a cake for him and sang to him when we got home.
I was taking my 4 yr old granddaughter to a show at Proctors. The staff was very attentive and polite. The food was delicious. She had the childs' portion of pasta, she was thrilled to butter her own bread and very happy it was warmed! We shared shrimp cocktail, I had calamari and artichoke fritters, very good! At the end she had a mishap and spilled a glass of water; no problem, the staff was right there to clean it up. A very nice dinner before the show and a good experience for my granddaughter at a nice restaurant.
Excellent food and service
Food was wonderful . Hostess was not the friendliest upon arrival, and seemed upset I asked for a different seat even though restaurant wasn't full. Waitress very sweet but 2 others at our table received different sauce on their meals from what ordered. Because food was of good quality, we'll give it another chance!
Made reservations for 6:15pm before an 8:00pm show at Proctors Theater. We were seated on time and made it to the show with time to spare. The food was excellent and the service was awesome!! We will be back for sure!
Specifically dined at Cornell’s for Schenectady restaurant week. The $25 three course special menu for the week had great choices and was a good value. Everything was delicious.
Our waitress had great customer service.
Pork osso buco was very tender. Desert was delicious.
Good food & service, nice ambiance, a bit pricey considering portion sizes.
We are frequent diners at Cornell's and we continue to enjoy all aspects of the venue. We have been here for private parties as well as dinner after the show. Ashley has waited on us in the past is an outstanding server - great at suggesting and recommending based on our palate.
Food and service were good. The lighting is too bright making it a bit awkward and detracts from an intimate setting.
Spacious, food is very good. Atmosphere very pleasant. We’ll be back.
"Casual elegance" was what I read about Cornell's online, and that is exactly what it was. The food, service, ambiance, and location were all ideal.
had dinner before a show at Proctors. four of us, all different dishes (Chicken Parm, Veal Alla Momma, chicken dish and seafood with pasta). Nice timing, pleasant server and delicious homemade cavatelli
Excellent restaurant. Very good service with friendly people. Food was delicious and portions generous. House salad was good way to start.
1st time there...service was excellent, great food...it's nice to have a restaurant that you can actually have a quiet conversation in
Great food and excellent service. Definitely a place for a nice night out.
Excellent Italian/Continental menu and good wine list. Service friendly and efficient. Value good. My Chicken Francaise was delicious. Tartufo dessert is a must have.
Had reservations for Valentine's Day a month in advance. People at the front, ahead of us, did not have a reservation and were seated in the normal, nice (from what I saw), restaurant area while we were seated in the banquet room which had been opened to "accommodate (used loosely)" more people. It had not been beautified for the occasion in any way, however, my view of the kitchen and everybody coming in from their smoke breaks was top notch. The atmosphere was akin to a crappy business dinner and towards the end of the meal, the staff began rolling tables into the room and sorting silverware noisily. Peak of professionalism... Thanks Cornell's! :/
Overall the place, the waitress and food were great. My only negative comment is both our meals were not as hot as they should have been. Although this is no excuse, I believe this was partially due to Valentines Day crowd. We have had many wonderful meals here so I would not hesitate to return in the near future.
Service was great, and the meal was too!
First time at Cornell's. Enjoyed the food. Ambiance was nice. Service was great. Looking forward to going again.
Food was awesome but service was slow. Prior to a show at Proctor's, more wait staff could be available.
Found this restaurant when looking for something close to Proctors as we had Theatre tickets. They were about a 5-10 min walk straight up Jay Street so very convenient as they had free off street parking there. It was a pleasant surprise. The food was wonderful.. Old world Italian - very authentic. Food was delicious and plentiful and as the show time crept up on us they were very accommodating to getting is in and out quickly. The waitress was lovely -quick, efficient and helpful. A wonderful experience. Will return soon.
We gave a surprise 80th birthday party. The restaurant was in on our plan and fully cooperative. Food and service was excellent, waitresses were jovial & attentive and everyone had a wonderful time.
It’s always a great experience at Cornell’s
We have visited Cornell's many times and it never disappoints. The food is excellent, especially the greens and beans app was spectacular. All of our entrees, which included chicken parm, chicken romano and duck scallopini, were all cooked to perfection and the portions were generous. Our server, Benjamin, was attentive and personable, which is increasingly rare at restaurants.
The best part of our visit was the fact that it was a quiet night. So my two friends and I were able to enjoy our food and conversation without fighting any noisy groups. This was one of the best visits to Cornell's we've ever had and we'll keep coming back!
We came for dinner due to a coupon in the GAZETTE we have had dinner in the past not for quite a while disappointed in area not achieving its goal of more restaurants. I asked waitress why it got so chilly during our dinner no answer was provided
Great food and competent, friendly staff. Two minute calamari is the bomb.
