Fantastic Wine, delicious food as usual! Cork is also doing a really great job with all COVID protocols - feels very safe to dine outside there without being oppressive.
Great Experience Great Service Can't wait to Go Back
Making you wait to sit before you entire party has arrived is a dumb policy when the table is open and no one else is waiting. Also they need heaters outside now
Thanks to the staff giving great service outside, with rain. Still enjoyed the meal.
We visited Cork in one of the first weeks after it reopened post-quarantine. At the time, the restaurant was only doing outdoor seating, but they did a great job of making the ambience as charming as possible (string lights, turf on the ground, etc.) and the service was in no way compromised, despite the extra distance the staff had to travel to get to and from the tables.
Because the tables are on 14th street (they've literally blocked off a lane of the street for the dining tents), there's definitely a lot of noise and activity going on, but it's not enough to compromise the experience.
The food was AMAZING! Highly recommend the fried chicken and side of biscuits (be sure to order it when you sit down because it takes a little longer than other plates). We also had the vintner's plate, the brussel sprouts, and the flatbread. All were amazing, and it was plenty of food to share amongst the four of us. We drank the Nebbiolo, which was very reasonably priced (around $40 I believe).
As I mentioned the service was fabulous and the staff regularly came by to check on us, get rid of finished plates so we could fit more on the table, refill water, etc.
All in all it was a delightful experience. While I can't wait to get back into the cozy ambience of the restaurant, I was ecstatic to visit Cork again and even more thrilled to see that the pandemic and these new conditions have not compromised their amazing food and sevice.
Great service in the outside Patio! They have added tables and more space so a great amount of distance between tables. The truffle popcorn and fries were amazing. And of course the wine was great! Our waiter was the BEST!
The service was fantastic and our very knowledge server recommended a wonderful and very affordable wine. The food was great and the outdoor seating had a great ambience. The food is fantastic too! After all these years, Cork is still a great place for food and wine!
Always a great night out!
Absolutely delicious food and really appreciated the dedication to ensuring safety.
Restaurant was not actually open but they let me make a reservation anyway
Great wine. Food was nothing special. Except tiny portions.
Their new back patio is very cute. I definitely recommend.
So glad they're back! The patio was lovely and all of the wines and snacks were wonderful. The quail was especially memorable. Can't wait to come back!
Food and coffee was tepid; left email with staff and i hope i hear from them, if not, i am very disappointed
The owner is always amazing and attentive but we have experienced issues with waiters that seem to forget we are there.
Finally had the bronzino, which was wonderful and, as always, love the small, shareable plates and many options for flights.
Excellent food but an unusually long wait, the kitchen and waitstaff seemed overwhelmed and noise levels were very high
Pre theater dinner
I've sent an email to Cork yesterday about this meal, which was the worst I've ever had at a restaurant I used to love dearly. Hopefully they respond.
We ordered the shrimp and calamari -- note on the menu "Shrimp" leads in the description. When we told our waiter that we only had one or two shrimp out of a mountain of calamari, he responded "that others have complained about that -- it's a mix and there aren't that many shrimp". Well, hello! If someone orders that and you already know there's no shrimp -- then, you should at least disclose that it is mostly calamari. Then, the patron can decide if they want to order. Better yet, on the menu, indicate that it is mostly calamari and a sprinkling of shrimp. Otherwise, the food was good. I like the new location.
Horrendous service - forgotten dishes, 30 mim for two glasses of wine, and no apology. Wont be going back.
Forget this restaurant if you have a food allergy. We chose this restaurant for Valentine's Day dinner as we have had a good experience the previous times we were there. In the past they were accommodating to my garlic allergy, but not this time. After informing the waiter of my garlic allergy and choosing two dishes on the menu that should have no garlic, he asked the chef and fortunately I was able to order the burrata and pan seared hamachi. Since these are small portions wanted to order something else so I asked the waiter to inquire about a couple of other dishes. He came back and told me that the chef said that the two dishes that I had eaten is all I could eat from the whole menu which has more than 20 dishes. Obviously, the chef did not want to bother with providing other food options. We were so surprised by this attitude that we paid and left the restaurant. I did inform the manager when we were leaving the restaurant to be more accommodating to guests with food allergies. So if you have a food allergy, do not count on having many food options at this restaurant. Obviously, we will never go back.
Way overpriced and everyone left hungry after spending 100$ a piece, not including tip. The food is very good, portions minuscule, and prices outrageous for what is served. The service is somewhere between aloof and confused.
Five of us were there for a pre-theater dinner. Everything about Cork was great...the food, the service, the ambiance (we were among the first people seated, so it was quiet and relatively empty for most of the meal). We did not have time for dessert, but all of the small plates were delicious.
Overall pretty good, food was good, table service was good. It’s small plates...so I’m sure you’ve heard about the value of a restaurant that serves small plates. I’m not cheap...I pay for value, but when the check came it was a little shock, especially since we got the restaurant week special. They didn’t list the price of the special, and I’m taking a guess...but I think it would have been more economical to just order from the regular menu.
I definitely would recommend this place just know what you’re paying for before going in.
Just one last remark, I had a friend meet me there and he was told that he could not be seated until everyone was there, no problem, I’ve heard that policy. So he went to the bar on the ground floor and no one asked him if he wanted something, he was trying to get a glass of wine. He went upstairs and again he was not acknowledged, while the three bartenders (im assuming they were bartenders) ignored him. I finally got there and we were sat. He told me about his situation and that he could not be sat, I looked around and the restaurant wasn’t full - at all - it was around 7:05.
Cork is in a great location, easily accessible from the U St metro. The service is great and the staff very knowledgeable about the wine and food menus. Cork is a wine bar but also a gourmet restaurant with the added bonus of having a wonderful market where you can get delicious wines and foods to go.
Wine list shines.
Food is really nice.
The service was terrible, and unfortunately ruined the experience. Hoping it was just that waiter and we can give it another try.
Great team and excellent food and wine!
Taken back by how poor the service was. Really regret paying so much for a meal at a wine restaurant/store when it took 30 minutes to receive our wine. We were halfway done with dinner before we received our drinks. Wait staff and busboys would come to our table with new dishes and not take away the clearly finished plates. Very hard to get service. Once again, regret paying so much for a mediocre experience.
Extremely loud. Impossible to have a conversation.
I love the new space! This was my first time in the new location and it’s a huge upgrade! The wine list is still great and still a great place for a casual glass of wine.
Love the new chef! I’ve dined here before and always had a great experience. Last week my friend and I had dinner and ordered one of the specials- a dish with roasted squash, pork, and hazelnuts, and it was so good we immediately ordered another one! I can’t recall ever doing that anywhere before. We also appreciated meeting the chef, who came out to see who had ordered two of the specials in a row. It added to a warm and cozy evening and made me love the place even more. Excited to taste more!
The new space is great. Our server was very helpful and made great suggestions regarding the wines. When they did not have the bottle we chose they offered another bottle at the same price. Service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We eat here every time we are in DC.
The outside patio is lovely and much quieter than inside.
Great wine and food - always order the avocado toast. A must when I go to Cork.
Food was tasty and service was great. For a wine bar, we were surprised that the limited choices for flights. We wished that we could custom create additional flights.
It was the Sunday before Labor Day and we had booked dinner. The ambivalent host who could barely pull herself away from her phone informed us that the upstairs restaurant was closed due to lack of customers. Hmmm? We chose to sit in the back patio which is really just a large alleyway between the restaurant and the building next door. Service consisted of one waiter and was mediocre at best to begin with. The waiter wasn’t sure whether he had the wine we chose (no alternative offered), he had no “paper and pen” to take our order, had attitude when we asked for important implements such as silverware. On one occasion he actually yelled at a customer who asked where his food was. The food however was good with Burrata, Carrots, Rabbit Ragu all satisfying. Finally at the end of the meal a rather large rat was spotted by the bins towards the end of the alley. We drank up and departed, but again we had to search for the waiter for the check!! Is the lack of Customer a self fulfilling prophecy??
They were understaffed, could not get our orders right, the food could have been good but was tiny, way too salty and arrived cold.
Love the back garden at Cork. Asparagus salad was light and refreshing. The olives were delightful. The wine was perfect. It was exactly what we wanted before a night of dancing.
