Cork & Table
This restaurant is exceptional in so many areas, that it is a shame it is so smoky.
The odor was embedded in my clothes!
Perhaps management wil consider some change in the ventilation system, as the smoke spoiled an otherwise five-star dining experience.
Food was amazing! Can’t believe it took me 5 years to eat there.
Food was excellent. Every time I go there though, it's smokey. Eyes burning a bit. Perhaps poor kitchen ventilation.
Let me start but saying that I’ve never in my life have taken the time to write a negative review on a restaurant simply because it takes a massive amount of disappointment for me to do so. This feedback is not aimed at the servers who were great and were tipped accordingly. It is aimed at the Chef/Owner/Operator of the place who thinks he can get away acting as as the most unprofessional restaurant dictator. That being said, Cork and Table has by far been my worst experience. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and decided to do the 4 course fixed menu option. The main entree my wife ordered was a medium rare salmon filet which came out well done and super dry. The server was very nice and apologized about the situation. Having lost her desire for the salmon, she decided she wanted to have a different entree to which we were told would be fine. What happened after was the most unrealistic situation I’ve ever experienced due to the worst customer service by the chef and owner of the place. It took 15 minutes after the food was sent back for them to tell us that we would have to pay for the other entree and asked us if we still wanted to do that (by that time I was done eating). I have absolutely no problem playing for a different entree (I shouldn’t have to due to not getting what we ordered) and, but it should have been done right away not wait 15 minutes until I was done eating. I came up to the registered and asked if we could please just pay for whatever it was that we needed to pay so we could leave. They charged us individual prices for what we had eaten even though with the fixed menus, they are smaller portions and less expensive. At that point, the rude chef/owner came out to instruct the server to print the check individualized. He did not even look at me or apologize for ruining our anniversary dinner experience. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone due to the lack of professionalism and customer service from the chef and owner.
Food was amazing, corn and crab soup full of perfectly picked crab and sweet corn, filet done to perfection and toffee bread pudding was to die for
Fabulous food and great service. Best meal I’ve had in Virginia in the past 12 years!
Even during Restaurant Week the food was excellent, the service was efficient and the overall experience was superior. I just wish the overly casual ambiance matched the quality of the food and service.
While I would recommend Cork & Table to a friend because the food (and wine) was good. The service was just ok and the ambience was also just ok. I was expecting more from the ambience (like better lighting and a more unique look). Plus because of the openness of the room, we heard everything the waiters were saying to each other and it was louder than I had hoped.
We have eaten there a few times over the last year and The food and service is consistently excellent.
Excellent food and service. We will be back. not real intimate close tables pretty noisy but, food worth it .
Fantastic find in Fredericksburg! We searched “ Find Me Gluten Free” and Cork & Table popped up. It was a fantastic meal! They did a great job with reviewing GF options and suggesting wine pairings. Unfortunately, we do not live in the area but will most definitely go back as we are passing through.
On the spring with dinner, I couldn't help but think of that song; " Is that all there is! "
Service was great! Food was great! Atmosphere was great! The Cork and Table was great!
Restaurant week, the food, as always, was top notch. Service was great and wine selection fabulous. Wish they had dairy up the restaurant week menu, same as always. Ambiance wasn’t anything other than average but if you want a great meal it doesn’t disappoint.
We went for local restaurant week. I had always heard this was one of the top restaurants in Fredericksburg. The menu was limited of course due to restaurant week. The entrees were essentially sea scallops and wagu’ beef medallions. (There may have been a vegetarian option-don’t recall). The service was very efficient. The restaurant had a fairly thick haze of smoke in it which bothered my eyes even after I got home. It seemed as if there was inadequate ventilation, although I’m not sure if that was the case. Portions were very average (5 scallops or 5 oz meat). I don’t have a specific issue with the meal, other than it was just okay. Nothing that really caused any of us to say “wow.” Would likely only go back if someone really wanted to go there, or if I ran out of other restaurants to try. Bottom line: give it a try and form your own opinion. Hopefully the ventilation issue will be resolved.
Wow. This meal was as good as any I have had worldwide. What a find!
Wonderful meal, good wine, great time.
Love this restaurant! Have been several times and each time has been a great experience!
Although this place is one you might easily walk by, I suggest you don’t. My boyfriend and I have very different appetites, and this place fit us both. He got the four course meal and I got one of the flatbreads. I took a bite of each of his courses and everything we ordered was cooked beautifully and tasted fabulous. Highly recommend it!
Good food, but Surprised by high bill got small servings. Only had one drink each so $100+ seems bit much.
This was our first visit to Fredericksburg. We found Cork and Table on Open Table. Although it looks like a storefront “hole in the wall,” don’t let that deceive you. Chef Jim’s four course prix fixe paired his superb dishes with perfectly matched wines. Excellent value, too, based on past similar dinners. Service was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed taking with Chef afterwards.
Cork & Table experience was fantastic. It was my wife and I’s first time to this restaurant and we’re already recommending to friends. Staff was very personable and informative with menu items and their vast selection of wines.
We love the 4 course Fixed Price Dinner with wine pairing. It has something for everyone.
The ahi and lentils were delicious. The dark chocolate pudding is a must. Rich and silky. Not sweet. Paired everything with Caymus Cabernet. This is a must try if you have not before.
If you like well prepared food accompanied by wine exquisitely paired with it, go to Cork and Table. We always do the 4-course proxy fixe menu with wine and typically select the evening specials. Never disappointed. Each course seems to top the previous one. For the quality of the meal, we find C&T to be priced right. Ambiance is great for great eating. Real foodies would love this place. Ingredients are fresh. We had the scallops. Both meals were perfectly prepared, the scallops were soft and juicy. They were the real things, unlike what many restaurants serve as “scallops.” Don’t expect a large menu but every dish is interesting with many excellent flavors. Love the place. Also, don’t be put off if the establishment appears to be a “ hole in the wall.” It really isn’t. The food is truly worth it.
Not the first time we have visited. Experience has been consistent each time. The food tends to be simple, but very well prepared. Wine pairings seem to be well thought out and fun.
Our go-to restaurant for dinner with special friends.
Cork and Table is one of our all time favorite restaurants in downtown Fredericksburg - great food, owner very friendly and personable, quaint atmosphere - definitely far above your chain restaurant. Highly recommend you give it a try.
Our evening at Cork and Table was outstanding! The two of us ordered the 4 course, fixed price dinners with the wine pairing. The food and wines were excellent. We highly recommend Cork and Table and will return again.
No effort at all was given to the structure of this establishment. Lacking in many ways with regard to staff, layout and overall quality. Plenty of potential in the name & branding, but lacks a finished appearance and quality control.
Hire more staff to turn tables and deliver attentive service
Move the reception area forward to the door - For god sake!
Menu adjustment to deliver an tapas approach so people aren’t stuck with a set menu.
WHERE IS THE “CORK” in the “Cork & Table”!!!! No wine list??? Really??? You have missed the mark to sync branding up with menu offerings.
These are some immediate adjustments that might help. So many more to consider over time.
Excellent meal. Excellent wine choices for pairing.
The restaurant is close to parking and was easy to find. It's small, but didn't feel cramped.
We did the 4 course fixed price menu. The menu is small, but there were a couple of interesting choices for each course. The food was really good.
Our server was very attentive. Prices seemed to be on par with other restaurants in downtown. My wife and I will definitely be back regularly.
It was our first time trying Cork and Table and we were not disappointed! Our server, Tom, was friendly and very helpful with questions we had. He made great recommendations. We will definitely be back!
Great meal as always. New Must Try is the Landmark Vineyards Overlook Pinot Noir 2016. Delicious.
Truly great spot for fine dining in downtown Fredericksburg. The wine pairings are perfect.
Love this little restaurant. Quaint cozy and the food is amazing. Nice variety and many gluten free options. Great wine selection. Owners recognize us now that we've brought so many friends in for dinner.
Enjoyed the scallops on spaghetti squash with saracha aoli. Lemon soufflé finish was great ending.
The staff was great and quite knowledgeable. A wonderful time.
We come to this restaurant every year when we are in Fredericksburg for the Historic Half Marathon..... i
