Curduroy is not a new sexy restaurant bursting onto the scene with all the hype that comes with that. But it is a consistently excellent restaurant that has been around for 18 years. To be open for that long in a city that sees plenty of hyped restaurants close it’s doors after a couple of years is a testament to it's greatness. Plus they have amazing happy hour deals. I highly recommend this place.
This is not our first visit to this fabulous restaurant. They get everything right - excellent food & presentations, service, atmosphere, & ability to chat w/o noise! A+
Terrific service. Delicious meal. Perfect for my business dinner.
Food was great but service was not what I had hoped for given the other reviews I have seen. The first hour was without food. Bread eventually showed up.
Delicious! Soft shell crab app
And bison steak....SO GOOD!!!
Went here for a special occasion and the service was outstanding. We were waited on hand and foot, the wine and food menus were very well explained and the food was delicious. We had a great experience here.
Lovely ambiance, creative food but not too fussy, splendid service and quiet restaurant.
Excellent meal and good ambiance. Great place for a business meal or a even a date.
I have lived in DC for decades, but not been to a DC restaurant that had me wanting to return before I had even left. The tasting menu with wine pairings was outstanding. Chilled pea soup, heirloom tomatoes, soft shell crab, pork, lamb, cheeses and dessert - plus incredible wines. Well done, Corduroy. We’ll be back soon.
Attentive service and really fabulous seasonal offerings made this a great dining experience. It is a limited menu but our diverse tastes were all satisfied with an outstanding meal.
Corduroy never fail to enchant from it quiet elegant setting and the attentive service to the innovative cuisine. Amazing soft-shell crabs, big eye tuna and smoked salmon.
I have been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. The Chef’s tasting menu is the way to go as you get to try several dishes, each was outstanding. The scallops and the black sea bass were exceptional and the desserts were other worldly. This is my favorite restaurant in D.C.
We had a fantastic night at Corduroy. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We started with an excellent glass of white burgundy suggested by the sommelier and then had a great red burgundy which was served at the proper temperature (not warm like in most DC restaurants). We both had a special tomato salad which included peeled cherry tomatoes as well as locally grown tomatoes. Its mains, we both had delicious soft shell crabs, pan sautéed and served over greens. We asked for a relaxed timing of our courses and the waiter was more than willing to wait until we were ready to put in the orders. Overall, this was a tremendous evening which we totally intend to repeat in the not too distant future.
The wine list is incomparable. The values on hard to find and properly aged French wine would be enough to make this a destination....but the food is also incredible. Fresh, seasonal, perfectly prepared with a point of view and no unnecessary frills or cliches. Would recommend for business, dates or just when you’re in the mood for great food wine and company.
Best restaurante in DC. Visit after visit, I’m always gladly surprised
Amazing experience. Highly recommend the Chef’s tasting menu. Incredible.
Excellent old world service. New world Excellent food. Overall a lovely experience
Perfect- great service and food, elegant restrained decor, low noise level
I had the Chef's tasting menu. Unfortunately, almost every dish was so over salted, that barely any other flavors came through.
We had a lovely time. Each dish was excellent. The drink selection was good and the cocktail I chose was marvelous. Tables not too close together. Sound level was such that we could have a pleasant conversation without any trouble.
Took a shot during a busy conference, glad we did. I got the soft-shell crab, and for this Maryland based boy they were simply outstanding. Oysters on the half shell were fresh and unique. I also had the specialty gin and tonic... very well done. Our waiter was attentive and on point. When I am back in the area I will return.
Once again, I enjoyed creative, garden fresh greens, perfectly seared tuna fish with tasty rice and seaweed accompaniment. The wine pairing was exquisite, as was the shared dessert of the freshest blueberry pie with a strawberry sorbet iced-popsicle. I will return to Corduroy as often as possible and certainly when my friend, who shares the same foodie sentiments as I do, is in town!
I left there hungry!!! Had the 5 course meal. The food was great but the portions were extremely small. Very disappointed and was very frustrating to pay a good amount of $, left feeling like I just had an appetizer.
The chocolate cake however is the best in DC I’ve tried.
Maybe Corduroy should base portions on the size of the person? I’m 6’2. There wasn’t enough to eat!
This is a fantastic gem. The food was outstanding. We ordered several different dishes and each was beyond expectations. We ate upstairs and the noise level was very low. Good place for conversation. Service as also fantastic. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and very prompt and attentive when needed. An all round great place for dinner.
Very friendly. Great soft shell crab. Sea bass was also excellent. Michael took good care of us.
The menu was varied, and the food was well prepared and seasoned. The front room was quiet, but the larger back room was a bit noisier. Service was very good, and prices were appropriate for restaurants of comparable quality in the area. We would definitely return if we lived in the area.
Terrific ambience - quiet, easy to talk, totally pleasant. Food and service were excellent
Great service and delicious meals!
We did not experience the same level of service we are used to from Corduroy or that we would expect from a restaurant of this class. They forgot to put the order in (I guess?) for one of our group of seven. She did not get her meal until everyone else was done eating and only after two prompts. I did not heart anyone apologize, though after the second prompt, they brought her a taster of soup. I frankly had not expected to be charged for her meal, but we were. I will not be returning to Corduroy.
Great food and atmosphere. Service was okay the food took a bit too long
We really enjoyed both our food and the staff of Corduroy. Our waiter seemed to become rather dismissive as the meal wound down hence the 4 stars for service. Not sure why he seemed to switch off but it really was noticeable to my guest and I. I will likely return, hopefully on a night that works better for the wait-staff. That said the kitchen accommodated dietary issues and the waiter and somm our wine and food questions quite nicely.
Brilliant food and we could hear our conversation with enough light to read the menu! First course soft shell crab with salad greens was the best we’ve had. Entrees were equally terrific: full of flavor and beautifully presented. We will be back soon.
Food was very good except chicken. Service was poor. Even though restaurant was nearly empty waiter was distracted and didn't check on us after dinner was served so drank water with dinner.
Inventive menu, with some imaginative additions. The raw scallop salad was much more complex than expected. The bison was cooked perfectly, which is to say it was not overcooked. Thanks truffle mashed potatoes were the best I've ever had. The wine list is extensive, interesting and not obscenely overpriced. The restaurant space is warm and cool at the same time. The service was spirited. I will be back.
One of the best values in DC.
We had our anniversary dinner here on Saturday night. The whole experience was delightful and delicious. We chose to do the tasting menu. Every plate was delicious and beautiful! The soft shell crab and sauce with it was extraordinary. We will be returning!
Came here on a recommendation from a friend. Wanted to do Chef’s Tasting menu but they only serve this if the entire table orders it and unfortunately two people in our group did not want to do this as they weren’t very hungry, so we missed this opportunity. Food was good in any case and the restaurant was quiet which facilitated easy conversation in our group. However, our server seemed more bothered/annoyed than willing to help or make suggestions. I don’t think he smiled even one time during the course of the evening. No regrets trying it out, but this place is not on the list to return to.
This a terrific place for a special meal, the waitstaff are personable, can talk about the menu, and have a comfortable manner. Then there’s the food—creative, best quality often with a touch of Japanese influence—I’ve always enjoyed going there—and the place is exquisitely designed.
Quiet, comfortable, really excellent food, knowledgeable waiter. All around classy. But dont count on finding a parking spot.
