The food was excellent , but the service was weird. Timing of food arrival and removal of finished plates was slow . Just a weird vibe. and comments by waiter strange. Not offensive but
not necessary.

Our table was not completely set w utensils or glasses missing at the three settings. The waiter tossed down menus upon sitting. Limited menu w hard to understand waiter. This place is over rated and for the money D.C. has much better choices

Very attentive server who explained the menu items in informative and accurate detail. We left feeling that we were special customers even though the place was bustling.

I have been to this restaurant twice and enjoyed it both times. It's relaxing with excellent service. The priority is to make you feel comfortable. Our food, cocktails, and wine selections were all delicious. The scallops are particularly good. I tried them on each occasion. My party also ordered the sea bass and short ribs. All delicious.

Fabulous restaurant. Was there for a business dinner. We wanted a place with good food and where we could enjoy conversation without having to yell. Corduroy was perfect. The wait staff was outstanding; the wine was excellent, the food was terrific, and the decibel level was ideal. I had the chopped scallops with a cabbage/seaweed side salad that was outstanding and I had soft shell crabs were were delightful. And the Sorbet was flavorful and delicious. And the coffee was hot! Others were also pleased with their choices. Hope to be back again.

Overall, a very good experience with good food and service. The only negative is that our appetizers came just after we had barely started our cocktails. We made the comment to the waiter who was very responsive and later on made sure to ask when we were ready for our main courses.

Great from start to finish. We had lobster appetizer, wine, lamb, tuna, bread pudding and ice cream. All were prepared to perfection. Service was outstanding. I will definitely be back on my next visit to D.C.

Excellent in every way, albeit a bit pricey. Perfect lighting and decor along with great service and top notch food. A bit hard to find from the street but worth the search.

I've eaten here countless times over the past 12 years and never been disappointed. Now that we've moved away we try to get back here at least once a year, we love it so much.

Everything you'd want in creatively, carefully planned dining experience, down to the most and least in the plate. Service impeccable, attentive only when needed, friendly staff. The only drawback was a very, very loud party of 9 in the middle of the room. The two of us could hardly hear hear each other in spite of seating in cozy little corner.

Four friends had a wonderful dinner. The lamb was the most tender, and the asparagus nest was flavorful with a light crisp dressing. All of the dinners were excellent. The only downside was the dessert took one hour to arrive after we finished dinner. Despite that I would return as the dinner more than made up for the dessert delay

Food was very good and the staff is very attentive. The only issue is that everyone had a very hard time finding the entrance and passed it numerous times before realizing it was where guests needed to go. The walking back and forth wasted our clients' time. Perhaps the restaurant could consider improving its signage?

The food is consistently good, but the menu rarely varies. For those visiting for the first or second time, you will enjoy a marvelous meal. For more visits, you would hope for a bit of creativity and variety.

Washington DC dining was disappointing this trip. Food a Corduroy was okay but not great.
Tuna tartar was blah with slimy texture. Could only eat about 1/3 but no one asked why. Soft shell crab was meaty and juicy but the sauce was just tasteless. Nothing horribly wrong....just nothing that memorable. The salted butter for the rather boring bread the best thing going. My husband liked his lentil soup. Would not revisit.

My husband and I have eaten at quite a few fine dining establishments in Washington, but this one tops the list in my view. The interior of the restaurant is very inviting and extremely well laid out, with tables far enough apart that you don't have to listen to your neighbors' conversations. This is one of the quietest restaurants we have been to in a number of years. The service is quite professional - appropriately attentive without intruding. And the food is wonderful. Best scallops and waygu beef we have ever had, and the desserts, including chocolate bourbon homemade ice cream, were outstanding. The wine list and cocktail menu are thorough and inventive. There is a small bar upstairs where people can also eat, which looked very nice as well. All in all, a perfect experience.

This was the first time we've been back to Corduroy after many years. The ambiance is lovely and the noise level low enough to have a conversation. The food is good but not spectacular; and the wine list pretty pricey. Dining here, except for special occasions, is just not good value for money.

i have always loved the food here- top notch ingredients, prepared expertly and without fuss. It's one of the rare places where the food is great and you can actually hear your dining companions without shouting.

Another fabulous dinner of extraordinary flavors! We can't decide what to choose, so we get the 5 course Chef's choice. And again, we had delightful courses that individually were outstanding, but layered together, enhanced each other.

Our server was sullen and aloof and petty. When I asked him to hold off on refilling my wine glass he was miffed. Then when I was truly low on wine he intentionally ignored me. It was petty and irksome.

Lovely experience. The food was very good. The wait staff was truly attentive. The decor felt modern, warm and welcoming. And the tables were far enough apart so conversation was easy and we didn't feel we were had to listen to any other table's discussion.
The only criticisms we have are that the signage was very small. (The gas lantern above the tiny sign was out, so that didn't help. The whole section of sidewalk in front of and to one side of the restaurant seemed unusually dark.) We had to drive past the entrance twice to find it. And we couldn't even tell that there was a valet, because that sign was blocked too, and the valet was sitting on darkened steps next door. Oh, and the steps into the restaurant are very steep......and the restrooms were up additional stairs. So it didn't seem very handicap friendly. However, if you know these things in advance, you can decide if the steps would be an issue, and that you have to look very closely for the restaurant. Hint:The owners have opened up a second location called Baby Wale (as in the little raise wales in corduroy fabric) next door. That signage is huge. If you see it, you have made it!
Even with these critisiums, we would still highly recommend Corduroy for a special evening. Enjoy!
