Amazing food. The tuna was fantastic!!!!
They were great in tailoring our meal to the many dishes we wanted to try
Coduroy's tasting menu, at $70, is one of the best around. Squash soup, creative crap cake, seared tuna done rare and the most tender pork tenderloin followed by excellent desserts all combined with great serbice. Wine pairing at $55 also worth the price. Coduroy's never fails to please.
My wife and I met our daughter who was in DC for business. We drove in from the Eastern Shore in Maryland and were not disappointed. Our server was exceptional and it turned out his father and my daughter attended the same university. The food was exceptional with a fusion of Japanese and French for the dishes that we experienced. The fish, short ribs and duck were all done well. The cauliflower soup and Japanese salad were awesome. Will definitely return and would like to experience the fantastic wine menu in more depth. One of the best I've seen.
It took an hour for us to get our drinks served. The recommended wine was pedestrian and a disappointment. The food lacked imagination. Don’t think I will return.
We very much enjoyed our dinner for 5. I had the antelope special which was delicious! My friend's fish special was very good as well. excellent service, accommodating of dietary preferences.
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but after dining there last Friday with friends, we will not be back. Where to start? Perhaps with my husband's $16 scotch, which may have had as much as a tablespoon full of liquid buried among a dozen ice cubes -- but it may have been less than a tablespoon. Or with the kir I ordered; I specified (and had to repeat this twice to the waiter, who seems not to have known what a kir is) that I wanted it "light on the cassis." What I received was deep purple, and my guess is that it was 2/3 cassis and only 1/3 white wine. The service was generally awkward, and our waiter literally hovered over us, watching us, waiting for us to order while we chatted with our friends. He had no sense of when to approach our table and when to stay away. Then there was the food. We had raved about Corduroy to our friends, who were from out of town, on the basis of past experience. The food this week, however, was ordinary. Three of us had a salad of tomatoes with burrata -- good but nothing special -- and I had a squash soup that was quite good. The entrees, however, were humdrum. One of us had roast chicken -- again, not bad but nothing out of the ordinary -- and three of us had sea scallops with grits. Boring; not even any herbs sprinkled on top to mask the bland flavor. And the menu in general contained nothing that seemed inventive or special.
This is a beautiful restaurant. It's a shame that the quality of both the service and the food is not what it used to be.
They had my flourless chocolate cake so all was good. Had a new waiter who was attentive, engaging and fun. Friends' first time and they loved Corduroy. Waiter caught on we were celebrating bdays and on his own had special dessert design 'Happy Birthday'. Fish was flavorful and cooked perfectly; I even ate the crispy, seasoned skin. Homemade ice cream selection is always a must-have. All-around dinner was excellent, which is why 5 yrs later Corduroy continues to be a top dining favorite of mine, I always recommend.
In town for a few days and Corduroy was recommended. Did the tasting menu which exceeded my expectations. Lovely experience from beginning to end.
It was a very special day to celebrate my best friend/boyfriend’s birthday for the first time after our loss of most precious family members. We both were emotional so easy to get sad but the atmosphere of this restaurant, all the great dishes, and the best server we had ever had made us really relax and happy. He was so kind and amazing. We had been many countries and many restaurants all over the world but we will definitely go back to now, one of our favorite restaurants in the world, (the best in DC for sure!) Corduroy. Thank you for the amazing night!
The service was impeccable!
Corduroy is kind of a hidden gem in its neighborhood, due to the construction going along. Once you get inside, it is a pleasant surprise, nice interior, nice friendly staff. The dinner we had was excellent, from starters to desserts. Very pleasant service, too.
Actually a business mtg.
Love this place!!
I have eaten at Corduroy several times over the last several years.. and every time my meal and the service exceeds my expectations.
Birthday. Service was an odd combination of frenetic and late. Has front of house staffing changes?
Terrific meal and comfortable elegant space. Good service made the evening better. Acoustically awesome for good conversation.
Wonderful all around as usual. Not much more to say past wonderful but website required 50 characters. I could do it in three: YUM
Corduroy is reliably wonderful. The menu is innovative, clever and always very well executed. The service and staff were terrific. One of the reasons I especially like it is that it is quiet. I cannot recommend it too highly.
this is a must for anyone who enjoys fine food and stellar service. It is imaginative and the plates are well executed. a home run for sure
Fine Dining at its best!
Chef Tom Powers' surprise tasting menu is to be strongly recommended for special occasions.
And get the wine pairings as well.
A nost enjoyable evening!
I have been to Corduroy many times because the food is lovely and it is a very quiet and non-hassle restaurant. I was very disappointed in the professionalism of the service this past visit. Perhaps because it was a Monday evening. It felt like we had the J.V. team. My guest noticed it as well. I will be back, and hope the service is back to normal.
Food and service were excellent.
Average food, below-average ambience
Wagyu beef special and lobster carpaccio were pretty good. That’s about it. Otherwise, the bad..... Service was odd, ambiance (on the second floor, the first seems better) dated, and the majority of the food over/undercooked and over salted.
The pork came out very undercooked; and I don’t mind a little pink. I asked to have it cooked a little more and it came back gnarled and smelling of cooking fuel. We ate two bites, they still charged us for it. We were too polite, not a good idea, as the service though relatively prompt could have cared less that the food was bad. My expectation of a restaurant like this is that they should have recognized the problem and taken it off the bill.
The steak and pork came with the same mediocre pseudo A1 sauce. Wine by the glass and 1/2 bottle selection bad (that’s not a huge deal though, just a comment). Wine menu broken and crusty, literally. Pages were falling out. I’m guessing it was from a time the restaurant cared, long ago. Cocktails watered down.
I think this place was good once, but it was a very off night or now it’s just plain bad. It rates around college dinning hall food, with better but poorly executed ingredients.
Plenty of choices in DC. I wouldn’t risk a night out here.
Spectacular Dining Experience!!!!
The bar excels at creativity. Small batch everything. You will get to try same truly creative ideas, and the bar is warm and welcoming. As far as the menu is concerned - It Is Amazing. Creative and delicious are the best two words to describe the chefs creations. Special!!!
Great food at very reasonable prices. The vegetable as well as fish and meat are fresh and tasteful
I have always liked this restaurant. It is as lovely and pleasant as ever. My starter of a mild slaw with shiso was delicious. Crunchy and refreshing. Main of lamb was perfectly cooked. My guest had the Wagyu beef special and was also pleased with it. Dessert apple tart tartin was also perfectly cooked. The table service was outstanding.
Great food but a limited menu and wine by the glass listing. Waitress was excellent and went out of her way to find my Mom a “sweeter” wine that was not on the current “by the glass” menu.
My second time here and it was a good as remembered.
Delicious and very pricey. The service was excellent.
