I was there for a dinner for two. The cocktails were good. Servers were quite friendly and attentive. We had mussels as appetizer to share. Very fresh and the Pernod cream was to die for! Loved the white bean dip for bread with its signature cumin. We ordered the grilled pork belly with scallops and tiger shrimps with scallops. Very nicely done: flavourful, pleasing presentation, just a little too salty for our taste. The pork belly was grilled perfectly and I had a crispy puff pastry tart filled with creamy mushroom as a side to my tiger shrimp dish. For dessert, we had a lemon tart brulee and mixed berries crepe. The tart was a good balance between sweetness and the lemony tanginess. Curiously the mixed berries crepe was filled mostly with the 2 large scoops of vanilla gelato and only a small amount of blueberries. There were a few slices of strawberries on the side. I was expecting more berries. The blueberries had an interesting cinnamon flavour to it, which I liked. The crepe was light and airy. I noticed the staff was very friendly towards children, which is very nice. Although it was a Thursday night, people kept coming in, proving it's a popular venue. Overall, very satisfied with the experience and would definitely recommend it to others.

We were given a giftcard here for Christmas from someone who really knows French food - it's their favorite place, and I see why. It's a lovely little gem of a restaurant, definitely will go back! It was quiet with gentle music playing, and we went on a weeknight so there were only a few tables - which meant privacy, romance, and great service. It was perfect. The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly and recommended an excellent wine, which I fell in love with while munching the delicious house-made baguette (I know it's just bread, but SO GOOD!). Next came the BEST French Onion Soup I have EVER had - it's one of my favorites and I've tried it everywhere (including France and all over Quebec) - this one beats them all. Amazing. I had the duck, which was incredible. My BF had some kind of beef thing which he also said was amazing - we literally were both so into our food we didn't share or talk, which is super rare!! It was such a lovely evening, great food, and a really nice romantic atmosphere. It's a bit pricey (...glad we had the giftcard for sure!) but for a special occasion or romantic night out, totally worth it. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed.

The food here is consistently good. Service is always excellent too. It's hard not to have a good time at this neighbourhood bistro. I kind of like that the menu has not changed over the years. Classic.

Overall, the place deserves a 4 out of 5 stars based on: -Good food selection for those that like French cuisine -Presentation of dishes and flavourful items -Friendly service with recommendations or explanation -Prices are reasonable for French cuisine -The only downside is the venue is somewhat dated and seating is somewhat cramped So come for the food and good times, but wouldn't recommend for a romantic date.

We booked Coquine for our 1st wedding anniversary. Noted in the reservation that it was our 1st anniversary, and yet nobody at any point registered that it was a special night for us. The Pappardelle au Boeuf Bourguignon was delicious, large portion. Tender beef, flavourful sauce, perfect pasta. Côtelette de Porc was a winner by my husband. My husband was undecided between two wines, and our server brought over a sample of both, which was very helpful. Delicious molten lava chocolate cake for dessert, even if it was described as "Warm, flourless chocolate torte" on the menu. Deep, dark, delicious chocolate - it does not matter to me if it comes with a liquid centre. I wish they had acknowledged our anniversary, that's all.

The female server was rude. She volunteered to tell our next table the daily special. But even when we asked, she was blunt. After taking our orders, she just grabbed the menus and dashed off. The food was fine, but not worth the hassle to eat there again.

"This is a Monday!" the patron next to me marveled. The Main Dining Room was full at 8:30 PM when we sat down. Mains were superb, and huge. The 3 of us shared a couple Appetizers & each a Main. There was so much food, I packed my Frere Jacque to go. We shared a single dessert, Crepe with Gelato, and it was plenty. The only negative was I had requested (in the Open Table Booking) a Happy Birthday message on the Dessert Plate. But the restaurant checked us in using a Book, and I guess they didn't get the message from the Open Table computer system.

My husband and I love going to Coquine; we go there at least once a month and occasionally we bring our sons too. Food is always delicious and each time I go I order the Beet Gnocci even though there are plenty of other great selections.
