I went there last week, and returned this week with a friend. Unsurprisingly, the food was still great, the service was great, and the room was quiet enough so we could hold a conversation, with subdued cool jazz background music. This time, I had white bean soup and the daily special, Sorentino chicken. Both were delicious, as was my wife's minestrone soup. All of us had to take home doggy bags, but it took some willpower not to eat everything on our plates.
It was our first time there, and I was very pleased, I had home-made fusilli with sausage and it came with a bright tomato sauce. The service was excellent - little courtesies like asking if we wanted extra bread, and attentive waiters. The wine list was good, and reasonable. A week later, I'm about to bring a friend there for dinner.
My 14 year old son and I had 2 great dinners here. The food is delicious and the portions are large. I loved the complementary bruschetta! The wait staff are very attentive and the ambience is cozy, warm and Italian.
Always fantastic! Extremely consistent in quality of food and service! It’s a true neighborhood gem. Love the pizza margarita (add garlic), angel hair with meatball. We try different dishes each time and it’s all delicious!
Food there are really large and good quality. We ordered one seafood pasta and steak slices with French fries, cannot finish and have to grab back home, hahhahaha, love the dessert there. They will have a huge plate with all choices they have and let you choose
Local Italian that has delicious homemade pasta. Old school. Small but packed and consistent.
Copolla's West was so excellent that I ate there for lunch three days in a row during my time in NYC. I highly recommend the cheese ravioli.
Neighborhood gem. Always good
Nicest staff, delicious food. Thank you Coppola's for always giving us a great experience
Food wasn’t hot
Arugula salad limp
My favorite local Italian restaurant. The food is always excellent, and a lovely staff too.
Loved the food and ambience. Best pasta we had in recent times
I love Coppola’s!!
Very good! Great neighborhood Italian food!
The waitress’s inability to speak or understand English was a major impediment.
Nice neighborhood spot. Good food. Average service. Very limited wine by the glass.
Always our go to for great comfort food made so well! Consistently good and always attentive management demonstrates why this neighborhood gem always has repeat diners!
We had a delicious dinner for Valentine's Day. The staff were wonderful and took care of our every need.
Coppolas never disappoints. Our go-to place when visiting our daughter and son-in-law.
The staff was extremely efficient and helpful particularly since we were a large group celebrating a baby shower. The food and portions were very good. I will definitely return.
Our all time favorite Italian restaurant in NYC! No exaggeration. Service is excellent, drinks are perfect, wine list is everything. And the food... oh my God seriously. Some of the best food I’ve ever had. My husband loves the shrimp parmigiana and my personal favorite is seafood risotto with lobster tail. We have been here for all kinds of occasions and will always return. Do not miss out on this restaurant. They also have another restaurant in Kips Bay Area, that one is good but this one is better. Try them both!!
Excellent food. Will be back!
greeting at the door was less than warm but service and food were outstanding!
While we enjoyed the food and the service was excellent, it was slightly annoying that they make you wait until the entire party arrives before they seat you. I had a reservation for 3, and was the first to arrive. While the table was ready, they did not seat us until my two guests arrived. An older woman who had a reservation for 2 was not seated until the other person came.
First time I went to Coppola's West a few weeks ago it was really very good, but this visit was a let down. The service was very spotty, the food was not cooked to order (double cut pork chop was ordered "medium" and arrived very well done and dry and slathered with thick sauce) The "Pasta and Bean Soup" was red and very thin and strangely spicy. It definitely was not the Pasta e Fagioli.I was expecting. My wife loved her Pizza American. In order for a
restaurant to be successful, especially an Italian
restaurant in NYC, it must be consistently good.
On this visit to Coppola's West consistency was
sorely lacking. I'll give them one more shot. Maybe it was the dreaded "off night".
The food was tasty but nothing spectacular. The problem wasn’t with the food but rather with the maître d’ and the woman answering the phone to take reservations. Very unfriendly, and not helpful in the least. I understand that it was a Saturday night and they were very busy. But still you need to treat people well. I don’t know that I would go back to this restaurant.
We love this restaurant. Very cozy, great for conversation, and the food is always delicious. Not trendy (though the salads are very up to date), just nice traditional Italian food, very well executed. Cocktails and wine are lovely, as is the chocolate mousse cake. I always feel so lucky when I get to eat here! We were a little stuffed from our meal (even though I took half of mine home and am enjoying it as I write this review), so we walked the mile to Carnegie Hall -- very pleasant. Took about an hour of gentle strolling.
Been here before, but this time was disappointing.
Pasta was over cooked to a point of being mush.
Service was not at all friendly.
Great neighborhood gem serving authentic Italian. Reliable and rare for the UWS. Loved it on the east side and love it here.
The food was delicious and service was great also very attentive staff.
Upon arrival the restaurant was packed- a good sign for a Sunday night. The booths were filled with families finishing meals and the serve staff rushing to attentively care for each table. Booths abound so comfort is assured. The menu in itself presents varied options for all tastes. Added to it was an impressive specials list. My sole french was nothing less than superb. My dining companion had a fresh pasta with red sauce and beef ribs that she said was cooked to perfection and the best she'd had. The special salad and dessert rounded off what we both described as a perfect meal. Unlike the pricey midtown restaurants we ate at the two prior nights, the food and drink were exceptionally prepared AND reasonable.
It was awesome.
Went there for a nice New Year's Eve dinner and celebration and they were rushing our appetizers and meals out to have us leave quickly. They wouldn't even serve drinks after 10pm and there was not prior warning with a 9:45 reservation. They clearly wanted us out quickly.
Love the small and intimate venue!!
Everything was great! The striped bass special was delish. Two of the other guests had so much on their plates they took doggie bags home.
Everything met my expectations as usual, a real great place - food and service are exceptional and I will continue to go there.
I’ve dined here while living on W79 & Columbus for fifteen years. After moving to JC, I took my wife here in 2010 as it was her last good meal prior to her going into labor with our first daughter. Now, seven years on and two daughters later, we took the family back to Coppola’s West. I felt as if it was a time warp. Nothing changed! Why mess with a winning formula? A delicious meal. I recommend it to anyone who desires a solid meal with little fanfare.
I made it very clear that I have OpenTable credit but they kept excusing something irrelevant such as waitress who took my order was new and OpenTable credit only can be used for dinner and manager is not here so come back later to use OpenTable credit. I insisted and finally used my OpenTable credit but these girls were not even close to professional at all. FYI, I checked I can use $50 OpenTable credit for lunch before I made a reservation. And these girls kept trying to take my main dish plate while I was in the middle of it. All of these are typical of clumsy service. Owner and manager, please check these 3 girls working on Dec 30th for 2PM lunch time.
One last note for the girl at the bar area, do I really look like delivery boy while I was waiting to be seated?
Is it some kind of racial discrimination?
Get yourself together.
Your first reaction should have been “How many?” “Do you have a reservation?”
Isn’t it the ABC for reception area?
Very good! Black Linguine Is perfect
