Coppi's Organic Restaurant
We had an amazing time! The service was excellent, and the food was out of this world. Coppi’s is a hidden gem of a restaurant.
The homemade pasta and apple salad were delicious, as was the drink special with Prosecco and pomegranate seeds. The ambiance is great, there was live music that night, but not too loud that we couldn't talk. Hailey (or Haley) was our server, she was fantastic. My friend and I had a great dinner that night. Location is great also, very close to the Metro. They also have a great Vegan menu as well for my family, so I will return.
Great place to spend Valentine's Day dinner with my wife. Being a cycling fan the homage to Fausto Coppi was a nice surprise. There was a jazz band that added to the occasion and our waitress was exceptionally courteous and checked in periodically.
Service seemed to be inconsistent. Some tables received bread, we did not. The food was delicious. I chalk up the service to it being Valentine’s Day. They were quite busy. I will be back!
Appreciate the vegan options that are very tasty
Small but cozy, Coppi's was a great experience. The food is fabulous and the service was primo. They even had live music but it was not overwhelming and could continue to carry on our conversations while they performed. Great place and will return!
The service was impeccable. Finished dishes were cleared right away, water glass was never empty, food was to die for. Typically I don't order Mahi Mahi, however, my date was a pescatarian. I've never had such a tender Mahi. The wine and cremini reduction on the Risotto was outstanding, as was the texture. Cooked perfectly. The cream on the tira misu was simply dessert-gasm. I'd recommend Coppi's to anyone traveling to DC. The live band consisted of a bass player and fiddle player. The bass player came up to me as I walked toward the bathroom and told me how lucky I was to be out with such a fine gentleman (a bit weird). While I was in the bathroom he approached the gentleman I was with to suggest they be on the "down low," which was completely inappropriate. I know this does not reflect well on the otherwise perfect dining experience, but the manager should know.
Took a chance on this restaurant and were very glad we did. One of our party was vegan and loved the food. But the non-vegan and non-vegetarian entrees were also well prepared and delicious. Our waitstaff person was cheerful, friendly and responsive. And the music was excellent. The menu selections are not that extensive but certainly more than adequate.
Daughters 18th and she’s vegan. Was great
Wonderful food and great atmosphere. Also really good vegan and gluten free options. The smoked salmon pasta is unique and fantastic.
The noise level was so loud, we found it difficult to hear our wait person. We were a party of two baby boomers (aged 60) and a 29 yr old, and we all found the noise level to be. The music was beautiful, but would suggest acoustic better than amplified base.
The food was delicious and our wait person was wonderful. But I would hesitate to go back there if I wanted to have a dinner with family/friends with whom talking with while eating was a desire.
Food was good. Service was good with a very friendly and helpful waiter. Nice neighborhood place with wonderful vegan options.
Great food but need more waitstaff!
Great food, but the service was problematic. They said they were short staffed the evening we went (Dec.23), but it took quite a long time to get our food when other tables around us who were seated and ordered after we did received their orders well before ours. We also ended up not receiving one entree we ordered. So I’d recommend, but be prepared for service issues.
Returned to this restaurant for the first time in years, and was not disappointed. Thoughtful food and wine pairings, great vegetarian options and it's organic.
It was the first time we went there, so my husband and I were very pleased and pleasantly surprised. We found it both casual and comfortable, and our entrees were very good. Cleveland Park has lost some very good restaurants in the last few years, so were are glad that a good restaurant moved in. We will definitely go back
How refreshing to get vegan options that steal the show. I will be back with the rest of my vegan family who I know will be similarly surprised and impressed.
This is the second time I have been to Coppi's. The first time was like a comedy sketch. No one trained to be a waiter coming to the table, staff writing orders on the back of their hands. We thought this was just a start up problem. The food was good, but not wonderful. I decided to give it a second chance and again the service was awful. We had 6:45 reservation on a weeknight and did not leave unto close to 9:45. It took forever foe appetizers to arrive, ever and a day for the main courses and then we deliberated whether to get coffee. After 25 minutes I wandered back to where a gaggle of wait staff were hanging out, and said that if the coffee wasn't, ready, it should be cancelled. Only then, did the coffee arrive. Did I mention that the restaurant was never more than half full and by the time the long march to coffee began, there were no more than 5 tables occupied? Good for
We only had mains. All the pastas were homemade andveru good (even the vegetarian option that one in our party ordered). I had the mahi mahi which was also very good.
The food here is great, and they have a decent happy hour. However, the service is atrocious. We had a server try to seat us, but then just walked away into the kitchen, leaving us standing in the middle of the restaurant. Confused, we asked someone else to seat us. Once seated, it took 15 minutes for someone to even take our drink order, and the second round of drinks we never even received. Overall, the servers seemed overwhelmed; they were racing back and forth, running into each other, and bumping into guests that were seated in the middle of the dining room. Servers were dropping things on the floor and just leaving them there. Not sure if they were understaffed, or if this was a normal occurrence, but I definitely will not be going back.
Coppi’s is one of the best Italian restaurants in DC. The food is always high quality and delicious. The one downside is the service is consistently subpar. Servers seem to be generally confused as to their job. They’re never quick or efficient with your order or the meal. On one hand, you don’t feel rushed, on the other hand, you’re wondering where your appetizer is after 35 minutes. Despite the service, the food alone is worth the occasional trip.
Coppi’s was very convenient since we were seeing a movie across the street. Everything was lovely and the food was very good. The waiter was very nice and accommodating, but I felt like he was all the way in the back of the restaurant with our seats in front window. We had a few times where we were searching to get his attention.
Good organic food, attentive service. The place had a nice, but somewhat old fashioned atmosphere. Really expensive, so watch value for money.
Coppi's used to be a great restaurant in it's prior location. In it's new spot, it's ambience and service has gone downhill. The "greeter" was rude and indifferent even though we had a reservation. He spilled water on my husband when filling water glasses and instead of apologizing, he just said "OOPS!" When he brought bread to the table, his hands were touching the bread. After live music was over, taped music was put on at a blaring level (as if in a bar rather than a restaurant). When we asked him to have it turned down, it was for a few seconds and then turned up again. When we asked again to have it turned down, we were told by the indifferent greeter that "it's just how this song is", though eventually the noise level was managed. Our server was wonderful, but the food was just OK. Given the lack of any sort of hospitality skills by the individual who couldn't be bothered with our requests, we will not be going back and won't be recommending to anyone.
Ate here on a Friday. Will not be back! Dining room crowded and noisy, however, a glance in the kitchen looked empty! Weird! When my small pizza arrived, it was 'doughy' and barely warm. The topping was horrible. I left it.
Great all round. Relaxed yet high quality
We had the risotto, salmon rigatoni and a vegan bucatini and our grandson had pepperoni pizza. The food was very good as was the service. The restaurant was a little on the loud side to me but it is casual. We would definitely go back for dinner again.
Second visit was not as good as the first. Food was only average and service was the same.
We love this restaurant, and it never disappoints. If I had a complaint about this visit, it would be that the food was slow to come from the kitchen. (I can't blame the server, because she was very attentive, and all the food was hot when it came out, meaning nothing sat.) I'm not sure what caused this, but it wasn't really an issue because we were enjoying ourselves. First time I've had this happen, though, and I think this was our fourth or fifth visit. I had the risotto with pancetta, and my wife and daughter shared an eggplant parmesan. All was excellent!
We go often to this neighborhood restaurant. We enjoy the food including extended vegan options; the prices are reasonable; the selection of wine and spirits is impressive; and the staff is super friendly.
Food was very good. Not superb, but very good. It came on the right timetable, neither rushed nor pokey. Both of those aspects were much better than I've experienced in the past. Experience was marred by a group of very loud patrons at the bar. I don't suppose there's much that Coppi can do about that, because the restaurant's layout and hard surfaces mean there's no such thing as a quiet table, but I subtract points. Also the A/C is badly underpowered. On a hot but not unusually-so July evening we were very uncomfortable.
Very nice wine list.
Cloth napkins aren't that expensive to provide and launder, I wish Coppi would use them.
Great food and the vegan options are outstanding! Service can be a bit more attentive (I had to ask for more water multiple times). Always a fun vibe and the food is excellent.
The food (2 pizzas and a pasta dish) took 55 minutes to come out. Meanwhile we watched people who came after us get their food and finish it. Our waitress never checked in after taking our order and we had to wave her over to ask what was taking so long. I don’t know if the order was never put in, but the wait wasn’t worth it for the quality of food.
A bit too fast on the trigger in serving entrees. My guest wasn’t done with her appetizer. Why does it require five minutes of discussion to be seated when the restaurant is mostly empty and you had a reservation?
Really wanted fish. Had the monk fish medallions with gnocchi. It was fabulous. A little skimpy on the fish portion for the price, but delicious non the less.
Go to Coppi’s for fantastic food, great value, and quiet surroundings. Their salads are uniquely delicious, their entrees also creative and pleasing. Wine is reasonably priced, and service friendly but not unctuous. It truly is a “neighborhood jewel.”
I was sat at a two top in the window that made me feel on display to the sidewalk (and not in a good way). My server was nice but used "reservation for one" as a form of address. The Apple salad was delicious but just plain corn on the cob is just weird as an appetizer. There are too many other options out there to repeat the experience.
Coppi's appears to be a yet-undiscovered gem. And I like it that way 😆
Neighborhood joint for primarily Italian food. The service and decor are pleasant in a casual, neighborly way, but the food is really nothing special. The pizza I had looked nothing at all like the photo on the website - I doubt they are actually using a wood-fired oven - and while the topping were good, the crust was a terrible, flat, unrisen circle of bland white bread. I would not eat here again.
When Coppi's first opened, service was so bad and the food so mediocre that we didn't go back. Just tried it again when some friends were visiting. The food was better (not great), the people were friendly, but the service is still really slow. It's a perfectly fine experience if you're not starving or in a rush, but it's not particularly special.
