Coppin's - Hotel Covington
Firs time there and I actually DID give a great review on my FB. Will definitely be back soon!
Coppin’s was great! The food and service were both excellent. I gave 3 stars for ambiance because the crowd was fairly rowdy. We were seated in the bar area of the hotel and there were several bridal parties and, I think, a class reunion. However, it did not affect our meal experience that much. I’ve been to Coppin’s several times and am normally seated in the main dining area, where it’s much quieter. I’ll be back again!
This is a nice restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. A bit pricey, but worth every penny! Very creative dishes, and not run-of-the mill. However, if you have a picky eater with you, they will easily be able to find something good to eat.
I've been to this restaurant several times over the course of a few years. First, the good news: the Wagyu burger was stellar! My first Wagyu experience, and I now understand what the fuss is about. The French fries were below mediocre---extremely limp. It's possible they had been sitting around, rather than fried to order. I requested decaf coffee after dinner, and it was both tepid and extremely weak. The replacement cup was much improved. The burger ultimately saved the dining experience!
Excellent Crab Bites! Best Etoufee I have ever had--really good. Service by Tyler was excellent as usual. Also got to say hi ti Kirsten too. A very nice experience. We are waiting for the Spring menu change!
The best fine dining experience downtown Covington has to offer, but can be comfortably casual as well. The food, service, and ambiance are all superb. Not to be missed!
Waitress was great, everything we ordered was AMAZING! Just a great experience
Service was really slow. I am not a fan of the new menu. Cheese board was lacking....well cheese. I was a fan of Coppin’s until my last couple of visits. Wine list was way overpriced as was menu for what you got. Eh..
We have eaten at Coppins twice now. The first time was last October and then this evening. 2/28/19
We very much enjoy the experience. It is in a historic building and they have done a wonderful job capturing the ambiance.
The menu is not huge, but the portions are adequate and the food is done well.
The staff was amazing both times.
For us, Coppins is a treat. There are no TVs hanging on the wall, no distractions, just a great dinner with friends.
The dining room was extremely loud, due to the proximity to the very active bar; it would be good if they added some partitions to muffle the sound. The food was very good and there were some interesting cocktails and a good bourbon list; would have liked to see more selections on the wine list.
Wasn't expecting to be seated in the bar area with a reservation, was offered another table, but decided to stay where we were. Server didn't tell us about the specials. Appetizer was delivered missing items and person who delivered was unable to tell us what was on the platter. My dinner was missing the veggie that was noted on the menu. We were more than half way through our dessert when I finally asked for our coffee, which was ordered with our dessert. Didn't care for the appetizer at all. Server was very friendly but not super attentive. Kitchen was clearly not paying attention to plates before they were going out. I've been here many times, this experience was quite disappointing.
This place was AWESOME! The food and the ambiance were a pleasure for us. We are a married couple and to have the chance to go out was something special. Coppin’s was a fantastic choice and I couldn’t have been happier!
The staff is helpful & friendly, with great recommendations. The cocktails are excellent! All carefully & artistically crafted. I had one that contained egg white, which was light & refreshing. All the food we tried also had lots of flavor, tasting good.
Unique and trendy atmosphere. Clean and much character.
Food and service was fabulous! Restaurant is beautiful and quaint.
Very overpriced. Small portion sizes. We arrived at 530 and were not offered the appetizer menu which went until 6. Not a lot of selection on menu. Did not expect the high prices. Building is amazing, but maybe just a place to have a drink and go or a very special occasion when you are not looking for menu variety.
The salmon with salad and grapefruit was delicious. The salmon cooked through, but dry, lightly seasoned. The salad with grapefruit was a new twist. I like grapefruit, so I would have liked more than the four or five morsels in the salad. I ordered hot tea and was pleasantly surprised that the tea was enough for two mugs. Nice, quiet atmosphere for lunch. In warmers weather, I look forward to the outdoor dining area.
The food and environment was phenomenal! The breakfast sandwich was so fresh and delicious.
Phenomenal all round experience. Sunday brunch should be in everyone's radar here!
Great food, drinks, service and atmosphere! Overall fun night!
Great food, great place. Great ambiance. I would definitely recommend it.
The space, lobby, bar and restaurant were very nicely decorated, and had fireplaces in some locations that made it inviting. The place was pretty busy, even for a Saturday afternoon. The waiter came to greet us shortly after we arrived and was helpful with the menu selections. The food was promptly served. The bass I ordered was fixed and served very nicely. Noise level in the restaurant was low enough to make conversation easy and pleasant. I thought that the food was a pretty good value for the price charged.
Best restaurant in the Greater Cincinnati Area. Chef Mitch is a true magician in the kitchen!
Excellent service and beautiful cocktails!
Fun atmosphere with good food
Heard great things. We were greeted with a toast for our date night, which was unexpected and lovely. Food was amazing. Our server seemed a little busy, forgot about us from time to time. I was going to order another drink but never got a chance to. Other than that it was a great experience, we'd be willing to come back
I had the striped bass and it was very good and the cosmopolitan was perfect. I do think it is a bit pricey which is the only reason I did not give 5 stars.
We always have a good time at Coppins. The food is some of the best in the area, and the bar mixes a great drink. It can be a little loud sometimes, but it's always fun. The gumbo is fantastic, the burger outstanding and there's always something new on the menu to try.
Had a 9pm reservation and were not able to sit until 930pm
Great vibe! Love that the bar is a huge lounge. Lots of room to gather and mingle. Dining room was loud when we first got seated, but they had 2 large groups. Our waiter had a hard time conversing with us. But luckily the groups were finishing up and it became much quieter and enjoyable. We had the red fish special which was amazing! Our waiter was on point all evening. Bourbon selection was nice. Overall it was a great night. We’ll be back - with friends!
Red Fish was outstanding. Charcuterie was excellent. Ambience wa a bit noisy.
I gave a not so glowing review a couple of weeks ago, but I returned today for brunch and was pleased that I enjoyed the meal much more than my last visit. No complaints today. I won’t order that item again, but the omelette I had today was very good. The raspberry mimosa is the bomb!.
A wonderful ambience, good food, but overpriced. The restaurant serves modern Kentucky cuisine at New York City prices.
We went for Brunch and the food was amazing! So tasty and great quality. The atmosphere is amazing, such a beautiful space.
A cold cold night but Coppin's warmed us up with great food and terrific service.
We have eaten at this restaurant many, many times since it opened. We have on a first name basis with many of the staff in the past. The menu and food produced by the original chef was original and prepared wonderfully. The second chef was equally as creative. Since the second chef left, the third and fourth chef (and maybe now the fifth--I can' t remember) have to heir credit kept many of the small plates--but have decreased the entrée menu significantly. Now down to only 5 (I think) items plus 2 item for 2 people ( a fish item and a beef item--both for two). The kitchen has gotten less responsive and therefore the service to customers has gotten longer and longer--especially when there are other group banquets in the house. Our server was pleasant but there was nothing she could do to get the kitchen in gear! The hamburger I orderd medium rare was served well-well done! I could have sent it back but at that point we had already been there over and hour so I lived with it. We really like this place. We plan to call to determine when the next menu change/update will be. In the meantime, if we do come back I think we will stick to a couple of the regular small plates. Not as much revenue for the restaurant but certainly better for us and can probably be produced quicker! Come on guys--perhaps you should ring up the first or second chef and see if you can get him to come back. This guy (from New Orleans supposedly) can't even prepare decent Gumbo!?
Excellent, as always! Our server, Marie, was lovely! She was so helpful and quick to make sure we had everything we needed. One of our party did get a plate that was not the right temperature and Marie immediately made it right, no problems at all. And the rest of the staff was kind, attentive and so welcoming. Still one if my favorite places for food, drinks, events, you name it. Best of the best!
My friend ordered a glass of wine. The tradition pour for wine by the glass is 4 oz. Her glass was nearly 2 oz. That was disappointing. They also brought a bowl of soup out which we didn't order and said it was for my birthday. It was a seafood gumbo and I don't eat seafood. So we shared it. Later on one of party members was charged for the soup we never wanted. When brought to the servers attention they did take it off the bill. I loved this place the first time I ate here. Especially for their short rib dinner entree. But they no longer serve that entree even though it was on the menu when we looked at it the Friday the day before. This made my experience somewhat disappointing.
Very nice, beautiful restaurant. Food was very good but need more choices for picky eaters.
