Copper Ratings and Reviews
The only thing causing me not to give an "outstanding" overall rating was the bar service. I ordered a "Martini, straight up and with a twist" and got vodka neat (room temperature) with both olives and lemon peel. (Yuck!) They quickly re-made my drink, but for my 2nd round I received both olives and lemon peels again.
The food was outstanding. (Some of the best I've had.) Additionally, our server was very attentive. Would definitely return.
After a long day traveling, I wanted to have a nice dinner - relaxing pace, good food, good service. I had been to Copper once before and had a good meal out on the patio, so I booked there.
When I walked in, the person at the front desk said "Just one person? Do you want to take a whole table, or do you want to sit at the bar?" After that, he walked me ostentatiously to the bar area and said "Only if you're comfortable here." What was I supposed to say, after that?
Instead of a nice, relaxing meal, then, I got to sit at the bar. No tablecloth, no waiter, uncomfortable chair, other people sitting next to me and having distracting conversations (not their fault, I should have been at a table with some privacy).
The bartender, who of course was my "waiter", took my drink order really quickly and then said "Do you know what you want to eat?" And then didn't take her eyes off me until I ordered, like I was wasting her time. The meal was really rushed overall. It was ok food, but not great, definitely not as good as I remembered from the last time. But maybe that was because the service and environment were so abrupt, and I had a hard time enjoying it.
I ended up paying over $50 for ok food and one glass of wine, which would have been fine if I'd had an enjoyable time. But I definitely didn't. I took the trouble to book on OpenTable, and there were tables for two people open the whole time I was there. People who came in with three people were seated at tables for four, no problem - even though they were "wasting" one seat, just like I would have been. I was treated as a second class citizen because I came in as one person. It was depressing and gave me a bad taste in my mouth, and I won't be going back. Too bad.
We had a fantastic anniversary dinner last week at Copper. We ordered the lamb chops and the chicken from the bottom portion of the menu, along with the cauliflower starter and Naan (of course) and they were all outstanding! One of our best Charlotte meals! Plus, the waiter brought a complimentary dessert for our special day and it, too, was delicious! We'll be back!
I really enjoyed the food here! The presentation was very nice and the flavors were delicious. I appreciated that the portions weren't too large. I had a starter and a dinner plate with naan, and still managed to eat almost all of my food. Additionally, the service and ambiance were great. This is a restaurant that I'd definitely recommend to friends for a date night.
The ambience was very good, especially compared to most Indian restaurants I have been to. The menu was authentic, tasty, unique and creative at the same time. We ordered Goan Prawn and Punjabi Gosht, both were very good. We really enjoyed our dinner, looking forward to go back again and try some of the other dishes.
Dinner was amazing, the service was top notch. The only issue we had is when we selected a bottle of wine, it was a certain Cabernet, vintage 2014. What was brought out to our table was vintage 2015 and for the same price and I had to notify our waiter in regards to the year and price. The 2014 Paso Robles vintage had a much better rating than 2015 and it should have been discounted more than what was given. Otherwise, a good experience and the food was remarkable.
We sat at the outdoor patio away from the street, which was lovely, comfortable and private. The food was absolutely delicious: murgh tikka masala, chaat and scallop appetizers, sag paneer (cheese and spinach). Mango and raspberry sorbets were the perfect finish. One of my very favorite restaurants. Best Indian food I've had. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Strongly recommend.
The food here is amazingly good. Doesn't compare to Indian in the area or a lot in NYC, is so good. It's worth the drive from lake Norman area if you love Indian food. The owners are from Punjab. It's fattening food and an all male staff except for the hostess on Saturday evening...the chicken tikka masala and naan are so delicious. Not spicy at all. Go if you love super good Indian food
Authentic Indian food what offers both traditional and modern delicacies. The Masala Chili Cauliflower and the Kheema Bhatura "Chaat" were excellent appetizers followed by delicious Goan Prawns and the Amritsari Battered Cod. Perfectly prepared cuisine. A gem for Charlotte.
First time here with 2 of my close friends. Made reservations and was seated immediately. They have the biggest wine selection I've ever had. Ordered the saag! It was delicious. I forgot to ask for extra spicy and the waiter didn't ask spice level
Either :( very small space but I loved it. Atmosphere felt like dinner at a friends house! The only con is staff is smaller. It was only 3 waiter working in my area. I wait 20 minutes each time for a glass of wine on 2 different time.
The food is GREAT! We have eaten at some of the best Indian restaurants in the world. Copper can compete with them. The one downside is the restaurants lack of good A/C. There are fans everywhere and they can be distracting. Yes, its an old house but it can be improved. It might cost you but I'd go more often.
