We celebrated our 30th anniversary at Copper Bar last night and the experience was outstanding.
Service was impeccable. The food was as good as the best we’ve had in the world.
Most importantly, even though we were not hotel guests, the chefs and service professionals made us feel special.
On our next visit to the Big Island, we will be guests at the Mauna Kea. 😊
Sincerely, thank you for such a memorable night.
Arrived on time for 7:00 Saturday reservation. Hostess asked if we were staying at the hotel, when we said no she grilled us on where we were staying. From there she was rude, told us to wait and finally seated us at the worst table. Food mediocre, cocktails the same. Waitress tried hard. Won’t return.
Went to Copper Bar for a 24th anniversary for my wife and I.
The hostess Andrea, provided quick and excellent service and had us seated with menus in hand in less than 2 min. 5star+++
Our server Evette scored a perfect 100% in all aspects….she may very well have provided the BEST service experience I have ever had… hands down….
Food!!!! Oh my my……… let’s just say zero….
Menu has a wide Selection at excellent prices…. Food quality?? My family and I are blown away…… today still thinking about how good it alll was.
Lovely music and hula from Father Daughter band!
Everything was superb! The servers were friendly and attentive, the ambience was quintessential Hawaiian including live music, and the food was excellent from start to finish. This meal far exceeded our expectations and was better than most in the area.
The ambience is what I picture when visiting Hawaii! Perfect sunset and enjoyed listening to the live music and enjoying the appetizers and drinks!
We’ve eaten dinner at the Copper Bar on numerous occasions and have always been pleased with the food, service and ambience. It is one of our favorite places to dine so we will definitely be coming back again.
Amazing live music and kind, attentive service.
Have always wanted a reason to go to Mauna Kea. Stayed next door at Westin Hapuna Beach, so went to Copper Bar for dinner. Beautiful, classic setting, great food and wine list! Live music with the waves in the background
Great ambience and service. Food was good but a bit over priced
Food was awful. Service was ok. I wanted to see the sunset. Couldn’t see because of huge columns and all the plants. Wasn’t worth the effort.
Beautiful ambiance, live background music and delicious food along with terrific specialty cocktails.
Great views and food!
Went for my birthday
View and food were off the charts. Drinks were so-so. Not very strong for the price, but still great meal and sunset. Will definitely be back.
Great spot! Awesome cocktails. We all ordered the fish of the day…the most expensive item on menu and the fish was dry and veggies mush. Bummer.
Good below par and not as previously experienced at this restaurant. Drinks from bar were overly priced and average at best.
We had a group of 11. 4 adults and 7 kids. They say the kids next to us and charged an 18% gratuity, which was fine. There was music, sunset and lots of memories made. The only thing that was a little off was the timing of the kids food and desserts. They were served nearly 10 minutes after us, luckily they were all very happy and the timing didn’t bother us.
Always fun! Always quality food.
Our server did not write down any of the items ordered. He had an arrogant attitude. He repeated verbally the items we ordered before he left. We corrected him as he stated an incorrect sushi roll. When the food was brought to the table, the incorrect sushi order was brought. We had to wait 30 min. for the correct roll to be brought out to the table. The worse part was that the server charged us for BOTH sushi rolls—the correct one and the incorrect one. We had to again correct him.
The food was good but need a bit more variety. We felt a bit rushed during our dining experience.
Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wishing to experience a taste of Hawaii. The food was outstanding, the service first rate, and the hula dancer and music was just beautiful only rivaled by the amazing view!
Had an 8:30pm reservation on a Sunday night. Showed up about 45 minutes early to see if we can be seated early and was told by the hostess that they are busy and are seating people on time only, which was fine. Bought some drinks at the bar and proceeded to wait in their waiting area as the hostess recommended; she said she would come get us when it was time or if they had a table open up early. 8:25pm came and we perked up, expecting her to come by at any minute. 8:30pm. Then 8:40pm. Meanwhile, people are lining up and being seated as we are waiting. And from our vantage point, there were several empty tables (socially distanced, of course). Finally I went to the podium, waiting for my turn to approach. The hostess gave a weak smile and "sorry" before she seated us. I know it was not her fault; they seemed to be extremely understaffed. The waitress was nice but was obviously stressed. We ordered a flatbread and a sushi roll, which were delicious. Husband and daughter both had the ribeye, which were cooked perfectly. I had the scallops, which were sweet and fresh but overly salty. There was also a pool of oil under the green beans. Overall the food didn't disappoint, but seeing how this was our last meal in Hawaii it definitely was a poor experience. Management at Mauna Kea needs to step it up.
Pretty good spot for cocktails and small plates or flat bread …
Great ambience good service very expensive
Calamari was chewy rubbery Sushi was salty before using Soy sauce
Most of the food was good but service was terrible. Appetizer arrived just a few minutes before the entrees which we ordered 20 minutes after. First set of drinks had to be remade after melting while sitting at the bar. Second drink never arrived. Dessert took forever and I’m guessing it was because they needed time to burn the malasadas to a crisp. Really disappointing.
Food is good!! From the host to the waiters, everyone is super friendly!!
Excellent experience with open air dining, views of the ocean, live music and hula dancing, great service, and delicious food. Try the octopus appetizer and sea scallops entree!
Had a wonderful meal here. The scallops were excellent. Mai-tai also very good. The music and the hula dancer were great. The hula dancer was so graceful and talented. Had a very enjoyable evening. Loved the low key vibe here.
I sent guests to the Cooper Bar for their anniversary and it was a very special night for them. Great service, food, and the music with the Hula dancer were outstanding. It was a memorable evening for them. As they said to me, Sunset views like Lava Lava, Food as good as Merrrimans, and classical Hawaiian music with great ambiance. A great way to celebrate the anniversary.
After dining several times we enjoyed everything except for th calamari which had too much batter and was overcooked
Got a last minute reservation which made me think it would be a steal. Got there at 830 and all the sushi rolls were not available because the kitchen ran out of ingredients. So we settled for some tataki and the huli chicken which is the best entree on the menu. They came back out and told us 15 minutes later that they ran out of the huli chicken, so I settled with a flatbread. It was good. Not what I ordered. Unfortunate because it was our last night and we really wanted to experience CB. It happens. Not the waiter’s fault. Just a bad luck of the draw I guess?
We had an appetizer and the other small dishes arrived nearly an hour later.
We have enjoyed our dinners at Copper. Everything is well prepared.
Spicy Tuna Maki was the best we have ever had, even better than we ever had in upscale
Manhattan Japanese restaurants
Went for light meal and it was what we wanted. Got the Corchon flatbread and a salad to split. Perfect amount. Flatbread was flavorful but quite greasy. I guess that what happens when you order the pork one! Salad was good bit would have preferred a little more. Drinks good. Price high for what you get bit that’s what’s expected at hotels. Lovely ambience.
I can’t say enough! Love the food! Atmosphere! Service! True old world Hawaiian feel!
Lovely environment but the food was disappointing
