Copper Bar- Mauna Kea
Enjoy daily Grab ‘n Go breakfast and coffee at Copper Bar Café. Sweeping views of Kauna’oa Bay are the hallmark of Copper Bar, our gathering place for families and friends. Enjoy creative, casual cuisine for lunch & dinner along with hand-crafted cocktails including Copper Bar’s signature cocktail, the Mauna Kea Mule! Sunset hula and music nightly.
My wife and I came over from the Westin Hapuna in order to enjoy a relaxing dinner. Unfortunately, due to the number of adolescents and small kids walking through the restaurant, we did not feel the level of relaxing that we have in most of the other restaurants we have visited during our trip to Hawaii. The food was excellent and the service good.
Live music and hula dancer
Very friendly service
Best sunset on the Island with lovely drinks and appetizers. Gorgeous views, spacious seating, memorable evening.
Great place great views great everything!! Not cheap but it’s a special place.
A lovely evening topped off with seeing the manta rays.
The atmosphere is good. Our table was dirty. The sushi was really good. But it went downhill from there... the ribeye was terrible. Our waiter barely paid any attention to us. Our meal was one hour and forty-five minutes. We saw our waiter four times in total. That includes when he dropped the bill off. We had to stop him as he rushed by our table to order another drink. Just terrible service. Overall, the food was just not great (except the sushi). The view is beautiful and the live music was great. Just go down to the beach at the Hau Tree for better food.
Nice ocean view with live entertainment. Great ribs and excellent service.
This was a beautiful, upscale venue on the ocean. Really enjoyed having live music, which was not loud, so we could still enjoy conversation and listen to the ocean. It was a beautiful spot to watch the sunset, too.
While we had a great experience with a couple of staff members, Ginger and Sierra were great, our waiter was very distracted, inattentive and acted as though we were a bother.
Food itself was so-so.
Early dinner on the beach. Food was excellent as was the service. This restaurant has a beautifully understated atmosphere. Casual beauty and a magnificent sunset view.
We had heard good things about Copper Bar but unfortunately we were very disappointed. Service was terribly slow and the food was awful. My wife ordered a ribeye steak for her meal. The waitress didn’t bring her a steak knife to cut it and when it arrived, we had to wait a few minutes to get one. After getting the knife, she cut into the steak to find it was undercooked. Since the waitress didn’t wait around to see if it was ok, we had to track her down. After they supposedly cooked it a little longer, it came back still undercooked, and somehow was tougher than a boot.
There are only a few choices at the resort, but this one was not the one for us.
Delightful experience at Copper Bar in the Mauna Kea Resort. The entertainment was delightful and the food and service delicious.
There was a sewage leak at the bar, therefore the initial impression was slightly unpleasant. The drinks were good and bartenders very pleasant. The waiter couldn’t remember the one special available. The food was generally under seasoned but entree portions were decently sized. However, the ribs were delicious! The salad was refreshing but overpriced.
Great location and excellent service. We had a wonderful dinner with friends. Highly recommend Copper Bar.
Very slow, very pound and quality of meal was low. Normally a great place to dine when we come to the island.
We came here to celebrate my 30th birthday & it was such an amazing experience! Our server, Desty, was so awesome & very attentive! The food & drinks were incredible, and they even gave us free dessert for my birthday! We can’t wait to come back on our next visit to the Island!
Entrees are overpriced but otherwise, great service, ambiance, view!
Always a great spot to eat. Food and service can be inconsistent but usually on the good side
Good food and entertainment. Casual but upscale. Thoroughly enjoyed
Nice atmosphere, I wish there were a few more vegan options. Overall good and the decor and music were excellent
It takes forever to get food served at the Copper Bar. This problem has existed for several years. The food tasted very good.
Copper Bar at the Mauna Kea was okay but I would go to the sister property "Westin Hapuna". We had two great meals there.
All of our food was cold. One person asked for a medium well burger without cheese - they brought the burger with cheese but without a bun and cooked very well done. It was so hard she couldn’t eat it. The waiter said he would take it off the bill but didn’t offer to have a new one made. Waiter had disappeared most of the time. Manager should have been sent over to address burger issue. Fries were cold and soggy. 3 ramen noodle dishes all cold, scallops cold and pizza was room temperature. Very nice hotel and expensive restaurant with very poor service.
We had the Puna Chicken Tsukemen. It was the strangest and most confused dish, it was noodles that you poured chicken broth over (fine) but instead of the chicken being in the noodles, they brought you a thigh/leg on a plate ! Very strange ! Has the potential to be a great dish but the baked chicken on the side is a huge mistake.
We enjoyed a flat bread and salad and were pleasantly surprised by some delicious fried Korean cauliflower.
Lovely setting and great to have live music. Easy to go to and great local for those staying on the property. The food was ok, not amazing. Dessert was excellent.
Wonderful atmosphere and food, and we watched manta rays after dinner.
I ORDERED THE SCALLOPS AND THEY WERE SCRUMPTIOUS. ANOTHER PERSON HAD THE VEGETABLE LATKE WHICH WE ALL TASTED AND LOVED. I'M HAVING THAT NEXT TIME. MY HUSBAND AND THE CHICKEN WITH RAMEN AND HIS ONLY COMPLAINT WAS HE WISHED THEY'D DEBONE THE LEG AND THIGH BEFORE SERVING, BUT HE LIKED THE DISH AND ATE IT ALL. THE FOURTH PERSON IN OUR GROUP HAD THE California roll AND HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG WITH SUSHI? HE THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT, AS WELL.
Ambiance is great. Food is good but price is a bit high for the service that you get.
There was a mix-up on our order, but they remedied it and even comped the two kid entrees that were mixed up. An acoustic guitar player was playing during our dinner and he was fabulous. We enjoyed it.
Menu has vastly improved since our visit last year! Much prefer to Manta for sure. Love the ambiance, music & staff. Good job!
Service was terrible. Left more of a tip than I feel the server deserved. Definitely would not recommend
fun very good service would go again
Open air but covered, sea breeze, beautiful sunsets, peaceful, life music, great service and their caprese salad is extra good!.
Great food, music and dining. The view is amazing at sunset as well.
Always enjoy Copper Bar. The ambiance, the sunset music and hula (great when entertaining friends from the mainland) and of course the food. We all shared some calamari and an app special-Korean style cauliflower. Yummy! Be sure to allow time to wander around the beautiful MAUNA Kea Beach Hotel. We were with an architect friend and he couldn’t get enough.
Matthews ours server was very friendly. The mud pie is the must try.
Beautiful location, but menu limited. No bread or crackers. Ordered the New England Clam chowder, kitchen ran out of that soup, and was given some type of pumpkin soup without asking, or giving me another option for an appetizer.
Love the live music and hula!
The food is just 'ok'. I ordered a hearts of palm salad with grilled chicken. (The chicken was dry.)
The husband ordered a flatbread (aka pizza) that was quite tasty. The crust is thick yet supple so it's not tough.
