Copida Tequileria y Comida is an authentic Tex-Mex restaurant. Boasting a colorful décor and variety of sweet aroma coming from the open-air kitchen, the restaurant offers a comfortable and homelike ambiance. Joanne Weir, the celebrity chef, has prepared a customized menu for Copita Tequileria y Comida. The restaurant prepares all Tex-Mex cuisines with locally sourced ingredients.
Copita Tequileria y Comida prepares fresh tacos and burritos in the kitchen. Lobster tacos are served with cabbage slaw, maine lobsters poached in butter and sauce and Serrano aioli. Enchiladas de pollo en mole manchamanteles is a large favorite platter. It includes rich servings of roasted chicken, queso Oaxaca, crema, almonds, apple and mole sauce. Flan de cajita is a popular Mexican dulce de leche. The tequila bar serves house cocktails a variety of blue agave tequilas. It also serves beer cocktails, simple cocktails, red wine, white wine, whiskey, rose wine and more.
The food was tasty but very small plates and too expensive for the amount. I would not recommend this place.
See above. This is the second time we have used Open Table it was convenient and worked efficiently.
The staff obviously is appreciative of working there. It's a great place. Nice when as a customer you get the feeling it's special for the front room people--and the chef; the food is delicious--too.
Great menu, lots of diversity, prepared very well. Really liked the wait staff, and the bartenders. The only downside is all the fancy-pants money folks who talk non-stop about their vacation homes, new Jag, etc but if you just treat it like a spectator sport, the people watching can be entertaining.
Not your usual take on a Mexican meal. We loved the small plates and unusual ingredients: Fiddlehead ferns in veggie tacos a big plus. We will definitely be back.
Really happy for the recommendation from a friend.
The service was excellent. The food was flavorful but I left the restaurant hungry despite eating from their "big plates" section of the menu. I thought the food was good but not worth the price. I'd go back for their terrific, reasonably priced margaritas but I wouldn't need to eat there again.
Great tacos, great margaritas.
wonderful restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. loved the clean mexican food..
The food was not nearly as good as the first two times I dined here.....I would try it again since this last visit was on Easter Sunday....they were very busy....I do like the bar area and the energy, nice menu
Right in mid-town Sausalito opposite to ferry terminal. Indoor and sidewalk seating in a heavily tourested area. Excellent server, inspired menu, chips, guacamole and salsa the best.
Good place and I'll return but the server was absentminded and forgot several items. It was a Sunday evening and fairly slow which surprisingly often means poor service. It's as if the staff has lost concentration and doesn't feel the need to be crisp and efficient because it's slow.
On our second visit the food was almost as good as the first visit, but was missing that extra touch of integration between the flavors. We ordered the mahi-mahi stuffed poblano which was the best meal of the evening.
Service was mediocre, but part of that was because the waiter was given too many tables and we and other tables in her section were competing for service.
We'll go back, but probably for a lunch only.
This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in Marin County. The quality of the food is incredible, the decor is hip and stylish, and the servers are friendly and attentive. The ingredients are extremely fresh and the recipes are unique and creative. Lobster tacos? Oh my gosh- crazy good! The margaritas are made with truly FRESH squeezed lime juice, served over large square ice cubes, and hand shaken at your table. They offer a wonderful selection of tequila cocktails and high-end tequilas. As an added plus, you will occasionally see the celebrity owner. She is super hospitable and genuine. We can't get enough of this place!!
They had a booth booked which I had requeted through this site which is surprising bc most places dont even read the small notes! Great waitor, attentive. Food is slightly pricey but for Marins normal prices its not that expensive. For about 5 of us, some had alcohol it came to about $140. So not too bad.
Was not what I expected, it's more like a hole in the wall. Guacamole was the only really good item. My husband had beef shank, and it was good, small portion, no extras. My Lobster taco was over powered with the lime sauce. Couldn't even taste the Lobster. Small portion.
My friends and I were so impressed by the food, staff, and overall experience. It was a relatively showery day then the rain took over but inside you couldn't tell everyone there was having fun. The staff came by later and sang happy birthday with a little candle. I will be back very soon. Thanks to our server Anthony!!! He was awesome and all his suggestions, food, drinks, and small plates were delicious yet unique.
Copita is a fun gourmet Mexican restaurant. Its always busy and lively. The food is fresh ,
clean and delicious. I highly recommend Copita for a fun night out with friends.
My one negative I noticed this time was that they were way too quick to clear the plates once
someone was finished. I think its much nicer to have the plates cleared when the table has
finished that course. It made us feel we were being rushed to finish our meal.....
Wonderful, creative dishes. We loved our waitress. The only problem is the seating is a bit tight so if you are sitting in the middle tables, you will get bumped/brushed a lot.
Took friends from Palm Springs here and they loved it. It was my 3rd time and when ever I get a chance to go to Sausalito it's my go to place. Keep up the good work. Wait staff are terrific and very knowledgeable.
Excellent experience overall. Pork belly tacos were incredible. Great service.
I'm a big fan of PBS cooking shows, and had been seeing Joanne Weir on TV for years. After attending a local cooking class of hers, I decided to finally visit Copita and give it a try. The restaurant is ideally located, and is decorated very nicely. We visited on Valentine's day, and it was so packed that they were turning people away at the door if they didn't have reservations. Curiously, however, tables started clearing up around 8-8:30, and it seemed like they could easily have accepted more people.
The food itself was good, but not spectacular. I liked seeing some less "standard" Mexican dishes on the menu, though they didn't turn out as well as I expected. The braised beef shank was over-braised, and turned out dry. The portions were a generous size, and I enjoyed the complimentary jicama and cucumber. I tried a mezcal cocktail, which was very smokey and heavy. Not my favorite drink, but it wasn't bad.
Overall it was a nice experience, but for the price and the quality of food, I'm not sure I'll be back.
OMG! The fish (battered) tacos were absolutely fantastic. Everything else was superb, especially the Smoking Gun cocktail. A must for Marin foodies!
It's a nice place, in a cute little town. Amazing food!
Please include more vegetarian options. Thanks!
We will return.
Fun place, usually busy.
Chips and margaritas before/during dinner.
Cerviche is our favorite.
One of the best meals ever!
This place just serves great Mexican. Everything they do is tasty.
Very enjoyable this restaurant food is not your usual Mexican cuisine it is creative , the ingredients are vey fresh, Tasty guacamole , the Oyster tacos are a must, I did as well enjoy their Marguaritas. Overall a pleasant lunch with friends. Nice outdoor seating when the weather is nice
Tonight was my second time dining in Copita. Both times the experience could not have been more perfect. Not only was every part of our meal exceptionally delicious, the staff was friendly, prompt and made us feel welcome and at home. This is my new favorite restaurant! I HIGHLY recommend giving this fabulous restaurant a try!
Excellent flavors; friendly and attentive service; interesting menu for carnivore; great libation menu!
Tried the small plates for our Sunday brunch, and the Crab Quessadilla was great, and the three small tamales all had wonderful flavors. I was surprised I did not need to worry about overly spiced hot dishes. Very subltle mexican dishes. Best chips I';ve had at a restaurant, though we did need to ask for them to accompany the guacamole. We were not charged, but I think Guac should always come with chips. Sat outside to watch the Sausalito sreet scene. A nice time. The Bruch menu looked interesting, but I could not resist trying the tamales, and my wife really wanted the crab quesadilla. Went to this restaurant after attending a cooking class given by Joanne Weir at Homeward Bound of Marin. She is a co-owner of Copita.
We were excited to try the latest from Larry Mendel and Joanne Weir and we were not disappointed. The food, drinks, service, decor and location are great! We loved the different ceviches and the mushroom tacos! We were there on a Saturday night and it was hopping. Only difficulty was hearing each other talk. The noise level was five bells! We commented to our waitress (who BTW was excellent) and she said the noise problem/acoustics were being taken care of in a few weeks. Our waitress knew our food preferences from our Open Table notes, which was impressive. We look forward to returning for a llittle less noisy experience! This is a fun spot for before or after a movie, for a light meal, and for a fun time with friends.
Margaritas are wonderful! The Mahi Mahi tacos were delicious and just the right size. Very comfortable and welcoming restaurant. I highly recommend Copita!
Excellent meal, drinks, and service. Hernan, at the bar, was incredible! Definitely, plan on going back.
We had lunch on a quiet Monday. Every morsel of food was outstanding, but then, this is Joanne Weir's restaurant so we expected it to be great!
When we were seated we were given delicious jicama and cucmber spears. So refreshing. We ordered wonderful guacamole. I chose the chicken tinga tacos, and the flavors in those tacos were incredible! I also tried the Sea Bass Ceviche with pomegranate and orange. UMM!
We had a very attentive waiter, and all of the staff was welcoming and professional. They so much wanted us to enjoy our lunch and we did! We can't wait to go back.
Interesting and delicious flavors of Mexican food, best Rotisserie chicken around. Perfect Margaritas too.
The food was way too spicy and too salty. I ordered the same dish I had the first time I visited Copita, but it tasted completely different. It was too spicy but was also over spiced with every pantry ingredient possible. I could not taste the fish. Guacamole was very salty. My friend had ceviche she liked but the portion was an appetizer size for $15 was a bit pricey, we thought. A couple at the table next to us, complained they were served main hot entree while they were just half way thru the salad. By the time they finished the salad and food was too cold. They did the same thing we came the first time. I don't understand why they don't give you a chance to consume your first course.
Great food, beautifully designed space, fabulous staff. It's a welcomed addition to the neighborhood.
