Copia Restaurant and Wine Garden Ratings and Reviews
This will be my go to restaurant any time I'm in St. Louis. Took a group of teachers to our annual leadership meeting at the national conference being held, this year, in St Louis. A largish group at 10 people, we we given a lovely table in a separate room surrounded by wine. The food was all great, with variety and appropriate selections for our vegetarians. The wine list was the best of all, with really good vintages available at only a slight markup. Had a great Bordeaux for about 70 that would have been out of my price range anywhere else.
Restaurant was dead, there were only 5 people including my self, and we were all sitting at the bar. Ordered Ahi Tuna steak and it was very good as were the accompaniments. $8 for a local draft beer is overpriced. Service was slow, bartender took the order and had to walk to the kitchen to place the order, walk to the kitchen to pick up and deliver food.
Waiter totally inexperiened in serving dinner or wine. In selecting wine (2 bottles) we went through 6 selections -- "oh, we're out of that" 4 times. Wine list has not been updated in apparently some time.
Food was nothing special - probably explaing why prices are low for meals. Coffee after dinner was cold and the port selection was abysmal.
They need to overhaul their kitchen staff and service staff and update the wine menu to current.
We had a group of 13 people who were attending a meeting the next morning. We were seated promptly, had excellent service and the food was topnotch. The wine list is extensive and we were able to choose reasonably priced wines to serve to the group throughout dinner.
Birthday dinner for partner. This is his favorite restaurant and we have been a few times. On this occasion desert was not offered as it had been an expected to either be offered or given as it had in the past. The quality of service seems to be a little questionable as does the neat attire expected for the price of the meal. Dress code should be enforced for this type of dining experience
My husband had a steak that was excellent. My son and I split the lobster mac and cheese which was $33. It wasn't a very big serving and I thought it would be full of big lobster chunks for the price but it wasn't. It wasn't worth the money. The service was very very very slow so don't be in a rush. We were there 1.5 hours. I wouldn't go back but would search out another destination.
Ordered the red snapper special, Never was it mentioned that this entree was 55.00. Salad was overdressed, and had 1 cherry tomato sliced in two. Entree was snapper and scallops, snapper was inedible. Smelled bad and not fresh as the waiter said. They did replace it with 3 additional scallops, and still charged the full price.
Waiter was NOT knowledgeable about wines, my husband's Sangiovese was corked, replaced that also, but he could not tell us what the varietal was, only that it was equal in price.
We will never return.
I booked a reservation on open table. Evidently the restaurant doesn't vet the reservations that the app shows as available. I showed up for my scheduled reservation only to find that the restaurant was closed. Why would you publish available reservations for a time when the restaurant is closed. Terrible customer service. Copia needs to update their information in the app to reflect their true hours of operation. Really poor form for something so small and simple. If they can't do this how can they be trusted to make quality food?
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED ON SUNDAY. Despite the fact that OpenTable allowed me to make a reservation, the restaurant was closed on Sunday. My family made a 20 minute walk to this restaurant late at night in downtown St. Louis for no reason. Very disappointed.
I took my Wife here for our 11 year wedding anniversary. We got a great table at the end of the fountain. Not much of a crowd, lots of empty tables which was a surprise for after 7 on a Saturday with perfect weather. I admit that it took away from the experience. Otherwise the place was a great choice. The food was so-so , but our expectations weren't that high to start with. We got a bottle of Moscato that was pretty good. Our server was tremendous! Our tab was $107 including the 15% gratuity we left. We will be back
It was our first time, and the patio was incredible, just beautiful. We ordered the fried goat cheese balls to split and there was 3, for $14.00 we thought it was crazy, although they were good. I ordered the lox, disappointing without the Crème Freice, they gave me a lemon sauce, when I asked about it?? We both had gumbo, very spicy but good. Everything was too high priced. I am a chef, and told the server this 2 times, he wanted to tell me what goat cheese tasted like, and went on and on about the gumbo and its roots and how it was made. Then disappeared for long periods of time, and we were his only customers. The patio was the best part, but they did little to fix the food problems we had, and our server was a mess, left a message on our overpriced bill "Not all that wonder are lost" I guess we looked lost. Will return but will order with caution...
Blackened fish tacos were very good. Would go back just for them. My wife had a vegetable pasta dish which she said was excellent (lots of veggies). A few people (may or may not have been affiliated with the restaurant) smoking on the sidewalk outside and a pan-handler... not good.
Four of us dined on a Saturday evening. After a bit of a rocky start with service, due to a beer that was requested not being available and confusion over whether beer on draft was available, we enjoyed an excellent meal with friendly service. An appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip was very good, as were the Ceaser (sic) and house salads. Two beef entrees were cooked as requested (medium rare) and both were excellent. The Copia chicken lasagna and shrimp fettuccine also were very good. For dessert, a sweet butter concoction was absolutely decadent and the Cowboy brownie was delicious - one serving of each dessert was plenty for 2 people.
