I made a reservation at Copetin for 7pm weeks in advance. A confirmation e-mail was sent before the day of the reservation and I confirmed this reservation. On the night of our dinner (Thurs Jan 24 2019 7pm), the restaurant doors were LOCKED and there was no one in the restaurant. There was no sign on the door to indicate the reason the restaurant was closed. When I attempted to call the restaurant at 7:01pm, there was no answer. I left a VM to confirm the status of our reservation. We had to scramble and go else where with our party of 5. We googled to see if the Copetin closed down, etc. and we could not confirm this. I have yet to receive a call back from the restaurant and am now being asked to ?rate my experience. I would appreciate if someone could contact me to clarify/explain this terrible experience. Obviously I am not recommending Copetin to anyone at the moment.
Food was great. Atmosphere was great.... Service? Extremely slow!!! Went for lunch and we were the second table there. We waited 20 mins for an app and 40 mins for the main course ... Even after that we waited another 20 mins for dessert and 20 mins for the bill! Lunch was supposed to be an hour and it ended up being 1.5 ... I don't know if the kitchen was backed up or it was understaffed but service really needs improving.. at times it even seemed like the waiter was avoiding eye contact.
An amazing spot!! You will not be disappointed on any front.
Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Ate at Copetin with a group from work in a private room then went back with my husband. We Loved it!! Creative, delicious food with excellent recommendations from the server. Great ambiance - eclectic modern yet comfortable. Great 70’s and 80’s alternative music. Can’t wait to go back.
The restaurant is very nice and the food is spectacular! And in a large quantity. And the staff are very attentive. I was only disappointed that Chef Claudio was not in the restaurant.
This restaurant is amazing and the food incredible.
Booked a reservation on here for a last minute lunch date. The restaurant was empty for the most part with 3 groups and another couple dining. The staff was friendly, as ordered cocktails, the old fashion and a drink with pineapple and lime, something “picante” don’t remember the name exactly. Both were good.
I had the ricotta gnus I! Delicious! I didn’t want to share. It was soft, tasted the ricotta. The sauce was light and the Brussel sprouts roasted with a bit of sweetness. It was perfect. My husband got the burger and fries. That was good too, he was quite satisfied with it.
The bill for the four items was $85 not including tax and tip.
Was a a wonderful meal service was excellent friendly fun can’t wait to go back
great food and great staff, music was way too loud when we arrived, but after a short request to our lovely waitress she got the music down to a level were we could speak without being very loud.
This was my second time at Copetin but the first for my husband. My first dining experience was great so we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary on Friday night. The food was delicious and unique. We were served complimentary Prosecco which was a pleasant surprise. We are avid Master Chef Canada watchers and seeing Chef Claudio in action was an added highlight. He definitely knows about food and creating a welcoming atmosphere. We are already planning our next visit.
A bit too noisy for good conversation but the food and service are very good
Enjoyed the experience, food was really lovely.. We went for my birthday.
The restaurant wasn’t busy. They switch the server in the beginning. Weird at first, but Dan took over and when the main course came. They double check with us. Our lamb loin was med rare and our steak was med. It should be the other way around. They offer to fix it but we said no. Not a big deal! They offer us the complimentary desserts. The snowball was excellent. My fiancé and I have a good time and the whole place pretty much to ourselves. Thank you for making our night! Too much we miss chef Claudio!
I went to Copetin for lunch on a Friday. There were only two other tables than ours. The design is funky and fresh - music too loud and not great for conversation. Service was good and my meal was great! Cannot say the others in the group liked the food as much.
I think this would be a great dinner spot but no time or interest in the lunch crowd - or that is how it felt.
The food was great. The service was patchy (asked for no tomato, got tomato, etc.) The decor is wonderful.
Food was awesome.
Server never brought our bottled water and waited 25 minutes to take a drink order then rushed us.
While exposing the entree servers finger pointing way to close to the food. Not experienced server.
Most amazing meal we've ever had! Thanks Chef Claudio and the entire copetin team!
It was a great experience. The absolute best steak I have ever had. I hope to go back again. Although it is pricey enough that I would reserve it for special occasions.
Everything was good, other than the kitchen being a little too loud. Though the food made up for it.
The attention to detail on every plate was spot on. Flavours and presentation were excellent. First time and I was very pleased.
We could not have asked for a better fine dining experience to celebrate a huge milestone in our family. The food was beyond expectation. Each dish was composed well, the ingredients were fresh and the amount on the plate was substantial. To be more specific, the grilled calamari was the most tender calamari we had, and we have had a lot of calamari in the past. The Roasted Chicken on Wlid Rice was quintessential Canadian in its flavors and ingredients. The Grilled Salmon and Artichoke was seasoned to perfection and the Ricotta Gnudi was a perfect pasta pillow of yummy goodness. Of course, we finished off our meal with three decadent desserts that remain etched in our olfactory senses. Aside from the food, the service was relaxed and friendly. The servers were respectful of our time and did not rush us out once our meals were finished. A definite highlight of the night was meeting our favorite celebrity chef Claudio Aprile. My nephew, who chose to celebrate his elementary school graduation at Copetin was thrilled to meet his cooking idle. Mr. Aprile was a perfect gentleman, as he indulged us with a few minutes of his time.
One of the best spots to enjoy some healthy, fresh and delicious food. If you haven't added it to your must-try restaurant bucket list, then I suggest you do so right away. The Dulce de Leche has stolen my heart and my taste buds and the lunch menu offers many different choices. Hope to be back to try to lounge and dinner menus, not to mention a cocktail or two! Applause to Claudio Aprile and his team for the great food and service! Cheers Copetin!
So we didn't realize it was summerlicious and at first we were disappointed because usually it means you don't get the best from the restaurant. But we were pleasently surprised. Food was great and service was amazing. Can't wait to go back for the regular menu.
The service and staff were very polite. Chef Claudio even came and met me which was a great honor. The food was absolutely amazing!!!!!
The interior is quite lovely and casual, but so elegant. Service was absolutely perfect, not a doubt in my mind this restaurant deserves its high rating. The meal was very indulgent. Delicious, fresh, and watching the kitchen work was my favourite part. Will definitely come back!
Business takes me to Toronto a few times a year and each time I try to take in a new restaurant. Being an avid fan of Masterchef Canada I decided to try Chef Claudio’s Copetin. I was a bit star struck when he was actually at the restaurant working! Everyone, including Chef Claudio was incredibly friendly and interactive. If I lived in Toronto I think this would be my go-to place for Friday’s after work.
The food was fabulous and I had the most tender calamari ever. For the main I chose Salmon and for the record I am extremely fussy about the cook and often send fish back because so many chefs send it out overdone. The cook on my salmon was perfect! I highly recommend Copetin.
I did have to send a glass of wine back as it was corked. Not a big deal but don’t bartenders check?
Overall, a very positive experience!
You know when you have a ‘what-if’ moment? Mine happened! Claudio Aprile was working, and cooking AND talked to me! The food was amazing (he may of cooked my food) the service was outstanding, and it was all around a fantastic experience (maybe because I’m a small town visitor)
Amazing experience! Highly recommended!
We are very happy we tried Copetin for the first time. The appetizers and mains were amazingly delicious with complex and creative layers of flavours. The portion sizes were not too small or large, leaving us feeling very satisfied yet wanting some more. We will be back hopefully with friends! Thank you!
I was told they did not have my booking but found out at the end they did. I knew they did as Open Table did remind me.
After finishing dinner I overheard a couple ordering one of my favourites dishes which wasn’t offered on the menu I was given.
On the way out I asked the hostess why I wasn’t given that menu. She said I should have asked for it. I said I hadn’t been there before so how would I know to ask?! Her response was a blank face.
For a $211 plus 20% tip meal for 2 people I would expect better trained hostesses.
I received a call 2 hrs prior to our 7:15 reso stating that their was a scheduling error and the dinner menu would not be available but we could still enjoy the tapas plates. No dinner menu at a restaurant!
When they brought the Tapas menu they were sold out of three dishes leaving only 6 to choose from, two being edamame and oysters. We decided not to eat there and were told that someone would reach out the next day but of course nothing.
It was our one year anniversary and I made the reso 3 weeks in advance , terrible customer service and don’t recommmend.
Amazing beet salad! Truly enjoyed the ambience. Outstanding service.
This used to be Origin. Origin was much better.
The Beef tartare was dry and overly salty.
The duck tacos are still great. You have to know to ask for them as they're not on the menu.
The place is a little loud.
The bartender is friendly and excellent.
Food was pretty good - not amazing, but I enjoyed it. Menu had very few options, so definitely a very bad place if you have any kind of dietary restrictions. Honestly, I just thought it was way too expensive for what it was. It wasn't spectacular. Service was very good - no complaints there.
Claudio has done it again!
Presentation was like edible art. Flavours were off the charts!
Ambiance was quite pleasant with a flare of vibrancy!
I assume since we were the only table in the restaurant on the night of the ice storm, chef was off! The scallops were almost unbearable salty, the steak tartar was sent back as it was essentially awful. The octopus was good. The wine pricing is insane which left us feeling unsatisfied. I had high hopes and since we were the only table, we figured it would be amazing. Service was great. The free oysters were appreciated. Than it went down hill. Maybe they should have just closed up shop for the night if all the chefs are off and the second level staff cooking our overpriced food. Too bad!
edgar was great, dylan was great, sommelier was a great touch. loved echo and the bunnyman
First visit to the old Origin space, it's just as pretty. Service and food was excellent, try the duck taco and the crab curry. Ambience lacking slightly, very quiet on the lounge side of the restaurant for a Saturday night however the dining area seemed a bit livelier.
Terrible! We sat down for over 10 minutes and didn’t have any of the 5 staff acknowledge us. There was a reason they were empty and I strongly advise others to stay away! Left and don’t plan on returning.
wednesday was a very quiet day at this restaurant when my friend and I ate lunch- so i can't comment on the above. Have eaten at this restaurant when it is busy and the noise level is awful then.
