Uneven experience. Some food was great. But, some of our dishes were so salty, they were almost inedible. The asparagus mousse was so salty, we couldn’t taste anything but salt. Several of the pasta dishes were likewise incredibly salty.
Calamari was good. Gelato and donuts very nice.
We had nice service with a knowledgeable waiter, but we were dining on Mother’s Day with 2 mothers, yet the hostess barely smiled or greeted us.
We will probably give it another try, but if the food is as salty again, we won’t go back.
I love this place! Great neighborhood feel, and this month's Sardinia feature menu hit right on the money. Will is fantastic - at this point I just let him order for me and it's always great.
Great overall experience. We enjoyed all of the courses and the pace was relaxed, never rushed. Our server was exceptional.
Pasta was tasteless. Been there a few times. Loved the eggplant. Would not recommend it. the appetizer was good but expensive for the size.
We like the location, facing the park and the openers and light of the rooms. The calamari was outstanding, as was the ravioli. Worth a visit.
My friend and I had a lovely experience at Coperta. I thought the soup was too salty but everything else was wonderful. I would rather be in a restaurant with a less than “energetic” noise level, but since we got there early we had time when we could have a conversation before the restaurant got really busy. The service was excellent and so were the Manhattans! Thank you.
Very satisfied with everything about our experience. Highly recommend you enjoy as well. Thank you one and all. Exceedingly amazing on every level.
We love Coperta! It's the closest thing to eating in Italy :) The food and the service are phenomenal!
Our experience at Coperta was quite good for my partner's birthday dinner. The host was pleasant when she greeted us, and we were seated promptly even though we were a few minutes early for our reservation. The large windows at the front of the restaurant make for great evening light in the summer, and the space felt vibrant (it helps that it smelled amazing as we walked in!). Our server seemed a little harried, but she was kind and willingly offered recommendations. Our starter, the salumi plate, was delicious! The pickled onions and the house-made beef lengua were both something we would return for. The cavatelli is absolutely to die for. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the ragu was flavorful and complex without being overbearing. I would eat it every night if I could. The mezzaluna special with bacalao was tasty, and well worth trying. On the downside, the service we received was lacking. We noticed other tables were brought bread and dipping oil to start, which we did not receive (perhaps because we ordered a starter?), and the beverage service was very slow (my partner did not receive his beer with dinner at all, and our server wasn't around enough for us to let her know). The support staff kept our waters filled and our plates always arrived at the table hot; however, our server left near the end of the meal and handed us off to another server who was curt to say the least. She was even less attentive than the first, and we felt rushed as we ate dessert; she did not stay long enough when dropping the check for us to address the beer that never came. I must say that I am grateful to the sous chef who dropped off dessert menus, marked our table, and checked on us, and to the support staff who made sure that we didn't feel entirely neglected. The food was truly wonderful, and we will be back to give the team another chance.
Incredible flavor profiles and outstanding level of service!
Coperta is wonderful restaurant with a cozy, old neighborhood feel to it.
The menu specials change regularly as they focus on various regions of Italy.
However, they alwasy have an option of a small & regular plate size of some of their pasta dishes, which is a great idea.
Service is always first rate - the staff if knowledgeable and attentive.
Since moving to Denver, we've been looking for an Italian spot with good cacio e pepe, as it's one of our favorite dishes. Coperta has that, with a lot more. Everything we ordered was delicious, and our service was excellent. The restaurant feels authentic and cozy, like you're at a cafe in Europe. We'd happily go again and recommend to our friends.
We were fortunate to have a knowledgeable server who paired wines with our different courses.
His recommendations of wine and food was spot on. A wonderful mixture of tastes that delighted
our palate paired with the perfect wines. Absolutely delicious!
Coperta was an excellent date night spot! Our waiter was knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. Will definitely be returning.
We have a wonderful evening at Coperta. We asked our waitor if the chef could just pick out some things for us over a couple of courses, and boy, did he or she ever! Everything we tried was excellent! I felt like I was in Italy. My top two favorite things were the whole roasted fish and the lamb ragu. I would go back in a heartbeat!
Great waiter, helpful with wine list. Cheese was amazing I
We have found very few places, not just in Denver but in the States, that capture the simple yet delicious food of Southern Italy. Coperta is like finding a Roman gem.
Creative and delicious menu, excellent service, reasonable wine list. Loved the 2 size options for pasta dishes. We’ll be back.
Parents came into town and LOVED Coperta. Wonderful staff, great atmosphere and even more phenomenal cuisine.
We just skimmed the reviews for this restaurant before going, as it's in our new neighborhood. After our meal at Coperta, we went home, scratching our heads and looked closely over the past months' reviews and we discovered there was indeed a complaint that kept popping up: TOO MUCH SALT.
Wow. We thought the starter was a bit salty, but let it go but then I tried the soup. OMG - delicious flavors overpowered by TOO MUCH SALT. I couldn't finish it.
Then came our entrees - mine eggplant parmesan and my partner got ravioli. Again, the heavy-handed salt application allowed us to only enjoy the other flavors in fits and starts and were both unable to finish our meals.
The waitstaff was outstanding and handled the issue deftly and our waiter even mentioned that they used to get a lot of complaints about too much salt. Not sure if it was a day that the new Kosher salt shipment got delivered or the cook was feeling very dehydrated but OMG.
No wonder there weren't salt shakers on the table. Perhaps this ups their guests' (alcoholic) beverage consumption? Very puzzling, indeed. For the record, we have been to Southern Italy and never encountered this kind of sodium application. And we are not folks who often or easily complain or send stuff back - this was a rare and upsetting occurrence - we so wanted to love this place and its food and were very disappointed!
For a restaurant that seems to have a lot going for it, this is surely something that can be managed and overcome.
House made mozzarella was fresh and flavorful - wonderful served with basil and roasted tomatoes. Other menu items served were equally tasty and well-executed. Sevice was warm and efficient. Top notch.
We had guests in from out of town who had lived in Naples and Sardinia. They thought the menu and the wine list were quite authentic, and the sips of Mirto we had brought us back to the old country. Fantastic sea bass and numerous sides. Altogether a fantastic experience and William our waiter was terrific!
Great food and service, as always. Coperta is our go-to for romantic dinners or meet-ups with friends. Never disappoints!
This was great food, great service: a time we will remember! They had some classic pasta dishes but a lot of things (particularly veg which is my wheelhouse) that I had not had before. The service was just outstanding and I look forward to going again very soon.
First class classic Italian cooking, the best meal of this kind I've had in years.
I love this restaurant. The food is always delicious. The service is always just the right balance between attentive and leaving-you-alone.
It is a little too loud for my taste; the space is reverberant because there is not enough sound-absorbing material in it. My only criticism.
Worth the walk in April Showers,
My wife and I decided to walk over for dinner at Coperta. It was worth the walk in the April showers on Friday night. Excellent food, wine and services as usual. We love eating at Coperta. If you are looking for a traditional Italian meal I would suggest that you try Coperta. We travel to Italy every other year. Don't expect a lot of "red sauce" at Coperta but, rather what is served traditionally in the small towns of Italy. Another great meal - Thank you!
Worth the walk or drive.
The food and service at this restaurant were both outstanding!
very much enjoyable food as always and experience. i love the spuzzilia and mozzarella! the pasta disappoints me a little as it’s a little thick and chewy. but still a very fun and unique place to eat!
Food was good but not great. Service was great. We felt it was overpriced for the quality.
The rib appetizer was amazing! Cocktails were wonderful, wine was wonderful. Pasta was perfect. Dessert was fantastic. Everything was great. We will be back!
Perfect as always!
I was at another restaurant recently where it was hard to choose because nothing jumped out at me. At Coperta it was hard to choose because everything (but lamb) jumped out at me. Only downside, a little loud for four older women to have much conversation.
I go out of my way to have a least one meal every time I am in Denver.
So good! Great specials octopus and sea bass were standouts as well as the sun-chokes! Will always go back.
Great little spot in uptown serving amazing Italian. Cute or building. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend!
The food and the service were good. The portions were very small which made it the wrong choice after skiing. The kids portions were larger than the adult portions. The appetizers were positively tiny. I wouldn’t go back.
5 star experience - lunch was outstanding. I had the ragú and the carbonara, both were phenomenal. The service was also second to none.
