The restaurant is charming and inviting. Staff was friendly and welcoming. They did a great job in greeting, explaining the menu and making us feel welcome.
We were disappointed in the food. We started with the Salumi Plate antipasti. There was a fairly generous portion of prosciutto and other meat but only had 4 very tiny crumbles of cheese. We also asked for some additional bread which the server brought out promptly.
I ordered the Cavatelli Ragu. It was so salty I had to send it back. Based on the reaction from our server, this seemed to be a common complaint with this dish. They re-made it and didn’t add any salt other than what was in the ragu sauce. It was a bit better but still quite salty.
My friend ordered Squid Ink Chitarra. It had more corn than Pasta and overall, it lacked the robust flavor you normally enjoy with squid ink pasta. The portion sizes were also a little small for the pricing of an entree.
The small plate and a salad were perfect for dinner. The pasta expertly al dente, and the sauce delicious. The olive oil used for the salad was nutty and mild with just a hint of lemon. Service was attentive and sweet. Quite a lovely place for a real Italian meal.
My family cooks a great deal, and when we go out to eat, we have high expectations. Coperta knocked it out of the park. We had one of the best dining experiences ever. It was obvious the food was well sourced, very well prepared, and presented. Congratulations to the staff and owners. All the best to you.
I’ve been to Coperta four times now and have always left very satisfied with my experience.
Outstanding service and exceptional food. This was a special get-together and the staff took it to the next level. Thank you!
Amazing food and service. I just returned from Italy and Coperta’s Cacio e Pepe was better than anything I had on my trip. Excellent wine recommendations during dinner as well.
We might be a bit old fashioned, but was a bit surprised at the dress attire of the hostess that seated us. We realize that things are much more casual than they used to be, but it did not make a very good first impression when we arrived. Besides that, we thoroughly enjoy Coperta.
Bad experience. Our drinks didn't arrive until after our food and we were never asked if we would like another. The wait staff was slow all night, and the food was bland and uninspired. The house salad was literally mixed greens with olive oil and salt, no other vegetables, no vinegar, nothing but salt and oil and leaves. In fact, every dish we had was terribly over salted, and lacked any interesting flavors. Besides a weird abundance of corn on the menu, there was hardly a vegetable in sight. Notably the carbonara was plain, salty and seemed to be coated in powdered mozzarella. I make better pasta for my toddler. We won't be returning.
We had a wonderful dinner and experience at Coperta. The wait staff were attentive and knowledgable and the food was excellent.
I was surprised by how busy it was on a Monday night. We had amazing service from Andrew & CJ. The tables are small so they can become a tad crowded depending on how you order and how many things are shared plates. It was quite noisy between 7-8 but easy to hear after that. The food is always divine. It can be pricey but typically well worth it.
Best Italian food I’ve had in Denver! All pasta is home made- yum!
We were so impressed we went back the next night. Amazing and authentic Italian food and superb service.
Great place for regional Italian food and wine with great service.
Great experience! Definitely get the Shishito peppers, cacio e pepe, and the steak. The only issue is there weren't many vegetarian/lactose-free options for our vegetarian, milk-intolerant person in the group. Still a great time!
Everything we had was VERY salty- like inedible salty! We told the server and the manager came over only to say how many good reviews they have received in the past from a few local magazines. Which We were aware of and respected (obviously why we were there)... anyways, if you like salt, this is your place.
We tried a variety of dishes (there were five of us) and each one was excellent! We will definitely return.
Excellent food and excellent service; Italian bistro atmosphere with focus on food from different regions of Italy changing each day.
My wife and I went to Coperta for a 5 year anniversary and it did not disappoint. We both ordered the prix-fix menu and each dish was delicious. I read once that the measure of an Southern Italian restaurant is their cacio e pepe because it’s a simple dish that can’t be faked, and if that’s the case then Coperta crushed it because theirs was delicious. Service was friendly and helpful for recommendations around town. Highly recommend.
Have been here several times and had fabulous service and food. This time it was a miss. Service was awful and made for a really bad experience.
The food was wonderful. The server seemed annoyed and frustrated with our group from the moment we sat down. I have eaten at Coperta about 6 times and every other time we have enjoyed a delightful server.
Fabulous food, wine choice is solid, and definitely try the deserts!
Yes, I would recommend Coperta, with a few caveats. This is our fourth time at Coperta-- first 2 times were great, the last 2 not so much. Do not go on a weekend. Service is extremely slow. It takes a long time for a drink order to be taken, let alone delivered. Serving sizes are disappointing. The entree size is not much bigger than the primi, yet costs almost double. The food is tasty and desserts are good. Just be prepared to spend a lot of money and time, and perhaps leave a little disappointed.
The food is delicious.
It feels a bit cramped and from my seat, it was not a pleasant view.
Service was quite good.
The room was fairly warm on a warm summer evening. They had a fan which helped a little. Food was very good and the portions were reasonable.
This was my first visit to Coperta. Team service was fantastic. Waiters knew the menu options well and made great recommendations. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. We had Aperol Spritzers for cocktails, and they were fantastic--best I've ever had. They had an interesting selection of starters, which were delicious -- suppli, a breaded and fried ball of risotto with mozzarella inside, and the other marinated olives with buffalo milk mozzarella. For primis we had Rigatoni Carbonara and Cavatelli Ragu--both delicious.
My only suggestion to the Coperta team : get better air conditioning!
Such an awesome place! A must go!!! The staff and food are soo delicious!
The best olive oil ice cream... hands down my favorite desert anywhere!
Wonderful food and server couldn’t have been nicer. She was very knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. We tried the chef’s recommended small plates to start followed by salad and pasta. So many delicious flavors! I can’t remember the last time I had such a great meal. The price was very reasonable for all that delicious food and a bottle of wine.
Always a great time at this restaurant. Food and service is superb, would highly recommend for any occasion
Fantastic in EVERY way!! Food was incredible, atmosphere was great! Our server, Gabriell did a wonderful job explaining the menu and recommending. I can not wait to go back - this is my absolute new favorite restaurant in Denver!!
Loved it. Felt like we were back in Italy. ❤️
Excellent food but noise level too high.
Difficult to speak to dinner companion.
One problem was that most of the food was over-salted for our taste.
a real gem
ask for Sarah she makes a great meal even better
The restaurant was very hospitable. The waiter was very engaging and did an excellent job waiting on our table of 5. The food was delicious, and served in a timely way. Our group was celebrating a birthday. Our waiter was very helpful in the selection of dessert that were appropriate to share, and all was delicious!
always love the authentic dishes! We will be back monthly
I absolutely love this place-southern Italian dishes, good wine, fun atmosphere. Whenever I'm in Denver I have to eat here. Delicious food, fun place to eat. Try everything, including the Spuzzarelli (little tastes of different things). There's nothing better than pasta with breadcrumbs on it!
Wished they had more variety and heartier dishes. More protein options. Not many kid options
Great service and excellent food!
Overall we had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, the air conditioner was not working or wasn't working very well and it made sitting through dinner miserable. Once we finished with dinner we were eager to leave.
