Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Virginia Beach
I was pleasantly surprised by the large open entry with all the options of wines out for you to see and sample. The food was delicious. I had crabcakes and they rival Watermans without having to go all the way to the oceanfront. I will be back again. Try the sweet red wine or the red wine blend.
I heard this restaurant opened up while I was out of town so once I got back I looked forward to giving it a try. It did not disappoint! Great food, fabulous wine, and good service - all in all a great experience. Thanks! I will be returning.
It's worth the visit for the wine and cocktails. I wouldn't go with a large appetite; appetizers are fairly decent by the main courses leave something to be desired.
I would have given it a 5 but wine tasting staff person was uneducated and no personality. They even told us they didn’t like wine and have never tasted it.
Great girls night out, we was not expecting such a great experience
My husband and I both ordered the filet mignon and the outside was burnt to a crisp! Had other guests with us so we did not return the food but for $70.00 we should have! Did tell the waiter but he didn’t really have ANYTHING to say! The appetizers were fantastic though so if I go again that is what I will get. Definitely did not get our money’s worth! Oh, the dessert was fantastic also...the Reese’s cookie!!!
My new favorite restaurant!
My only complaint is smoking was allowed on the patio off main dining room and cigarette smoke was filling dining area during our meal. They need to restrict smoking in this area.
This was one of the best customer service experiences I have had in years! PJ and Jason were very accommodating of our needs and request creating a specialty drink for our occasion. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable offering great food and wine suggestions. Everything was great from the tasting as you walk in the door to the truffles as we were walking out. I highly recommend this restaurant particularly this location. I am sure my friends and I will be back in the very near future!
Preretirement dinner got a coworker. Food was great!
We had a wonderful visit. The server was incredibly nice and helpful. Will come back soon!
We went for an evening with friends and had a fantastic time. The menu is extensive, but reasonable. We had six different meals and three different desserts all of them were excellent. I will definitely return. My meal the Shrimp & Polenta was outstanding and the Mexican Drunken Shrimp appetizer was excellent as well.
Loved the place.. became a member!!
The tasting experience was awesome. My attendant was very attentive and knowledgeable. Purchased a few bottles of my favorites. Agitated the attendant could only accept cash tips. Service at restaurant was horrible. First waiter mumbled couldn’t make out what he was saying in introduction. We ordered drinks and maybe 10 minutes later a different waiter stoped by to say he was taking over our table. He had the first waiter bring drinks he brought bread and then food. There was no other interaction had to flag down another waiter to get our bill and to go boxes. I ordered jambalaya it was ok, really spicy nothing to write home about. The atmosphere is nice! I will be back for another tasting, not sure I will eat there again.
My friend and I ate here at 7:15 on Saturday night. I would not recommend doing that! It was very loud and so busy the waitress couldn't get to us for quite a while. I asked for the gluten free menu and it has a lot of choices however, the waitress seemed very confused when I ordered off of it. She was unfamiliar with the items and kept calling my chicken carbonara, "chicken gnocchi." I said, no it's not gnocchi it should be gluten free noodles, it says nothing about gnocchi and she said, "oh okay." When someone else brought the meal they also called it chicken gnocchi but it did have penne noodles so I don't know what was going on. The sauce was described as creamy garlic sauce but it looked and tasted pretty much like chicken broth? That alone was $20! What a huge disappointment. Also the table next to us was so upset and a man was adamantly saying, "I never complain but this was unacceptable!" I don't know what was wrong but I sympathize with him because it was totally unacceptable. The wait, the food, the price. I also ordered a salad and a glass of wine. With a tip it was $50 for just me. If I had enjoyed the food it would be at least "ok" but the fact that the food was gross, cold, and not anything like the description and paired with an overly busy waitress and kitchen staff I would never ever come back here. I think my expectation were too high. I saw good reviews, an extensive gluten free menu and a lovely wine selection. SO sad!!!
We really enjoyed the whole experience and left by buying a membership. The only downside was it took the service a while to get to our table. Once at our table they talk and explain a lot (I would think that’s why they run behind). Every dish we had was delicious and the wine was flavorful!
I have been twice and my only complaint both times is the air temperature is freezing, I have said something each time to our waitress. It is air conditioning coming from the vents in WINTER, you can feel it blowing from the vents, change that and you get 5 stars
I made my reservations beforehand, but arrived early, and they had no problems seating our party of 4 at 5 pm. Enjoyed the wine (tried the Cooper Hawk Red), and had the flatbread appetizer (delicious). We all really enjoyed our meals, and the dessert was FANTASTIC! I'll be returning to this restaurant in the future, probably for a wine tasting or seating at the bar.
I was pleasantly surprised with the overall design, customers service and the food was nothing less than amazing. Cooper's Hawk Winery is a must try.
Although new (you can tell they're still figuring out staffing and such), this Coopers Hawk fits the standard set by other locations. They've got good food, good wine, and good staff. Plus they have plenty of gluten free options. I wish they would encourage people to stand closer together along the tasting. I saw groups of four with all four standing along the tasting bar. They would be able to fit more people if they stood in a semi circle instead.
This was our first time at Cooper's Hawk. We loved it! Our server Lafire was wonderful! Food was delicious! I'm not much of a brussel sprout lover, but the crispy brussel sprouts are fantastic! We joined the wine club and will definitely be back!
We’ve been her five times over the past three weeks. The staff is excellent and very friendly and the food is always well prepared.
The servers/service level is consistently excellent. they are very accommodating. The host/hostesses could take some tips from the servers. They were not very welcoming. One was wiping down menus and they were talking among themselves while they “checked” to see if there was a table available. This after they acknowledged that we had a reservation.
Not impressed! Service was ok. Our waitress was not fully familiar with the menu. The food was terrible. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was not good at all. I ordered the create your own surf and turf with the Steak medallions and grouper. Ordered my steak medium rare. The medallions were burnt and very well done. They also had some type of crust on them that was useless to the palette. The grouper serving was the smallest I have ever seen for a plate that cost $30. The Tap beer selection was dismal. (I know it’s a winery, but if you want to keep those of us who love beer but have spouses that like wine you need to have a better variety on tap). I ordered the Coopers Hawk Ale and was not impressed with the flavor or the quantity given based on the price. It was $7.50 and there might have been 10 ounces in the glass. Overall I would not go back and would recommend others stay away. Not worth the money.
I cant complain about anything. From the server, wine and food, and the teamwork was all exceptional!
Great service, good wine.
The restaurant was very clean. My wife and I were greeted right away. The hostess was very friendly. We were given a complimentary glass of wine when we came in and then we were helped promptly by the hostess and taken to our table with no wait whatsoever. The waitress was very prompt and helpful in helping us decide on our wine. We had the carne Asada flatbread. It was delicious. My wife had the trio of medallions and I had the pistachio crusted grouper with both meals we had Mary’s potatoes and asparagus. Everything was perfect. We definitely plan on coming back.
Very nice place , my food Dana’s chicken, was I thought very salty, but everything was still good !
We ordered too many appetizers so ended up just getting a flatbread for our dinner because we were full! Would probably order shrimp and Caesar salad next time. Calamari delicious but very heavy! Loved the wine and a real deal at $23 a bottle -
Great food. Good service. A little too noisy for fine dining
This was an excellent dining experience for my son and I. Our waitress, Xavier, was AMAZING!!
Great atmosphere and service. Thumbs up!
What a night! This place is beautiful, and the staff were so friendly and helpful!! Alicia was our server in the bar and she was fabulous. Emily was our assistant for our wine tasting and she was great! Can’t wait to go back! Thanks so much for a wonderful night out
Great experience. Very busy since it's only been open three weeks but service was great and timely. They've worked out a lot of the kinks lost new restaurants probably have when opening. Our waitress Alicia was very friendly and attentive!
Excellent food excellent fast service.
Food was great and wine selections are wonderful. But it’s very noisy and crowded, not what you want when you’re spending that kind of money. Would be good for dining in a group but not for an intimate occasion.
We had a reservation for 6:45pm on a Friday night. We were seated promptly and the atmosphere was great for chatting with friends over a nice bottle of wine. Calamari was excellent.
Exceptional customer service and excellent food. We’ll be back.
Food was great..lots of choices..portions were large..we were seated in the back of the restaurant..it was so cold we moved into the bar area where it was toasty
We joined with our friends in Naples, Fl and have been to the Va Beach location twice. We brought neighbors and they joined also. Already signed up for the Valentine's dinner on 2/12!! So happy Coopers Hawk came to our area!
