Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - St. Charles
Dinner out to celebrate my parents buying a new house in St. Charles. Kat, our server, was fantastic, and we had an amazing time. If you have ever gone to CH and thought “Geez it’s good but too loud,” then come back to CH on a Monday night. It was incredible.
Had a fabulous dinner with family. Food and service stellar!
Wine sommelier was terrible!! & where we were seating (under the lights) we were way too hot!!
Being club members for 10+ years we have been to Cooper's many times. We have always been impressed with the service, food and wine. This evening was a disappointment in the food category. We have always bragged about the food quality and quantity. Saturday evening we were with customers who had never been to Cooper's. My husband was bragging about the pistachio crusted grouper and has always talked it up and recommended it to others dining with us. He and our guest ordered it because of the recommendation. The plate arrived and looked like it was missing something...grouper! There were two small, extremely thin slices of grouper on the plate and a scoop of mashed potatoes, and a whole lot of plate showing. It was embarrassing to say the least. In all previous orders this dish was served had a very thick and huge grouper filet. The plate presentation as well as the serving was almost overwhelming to look at. My husband and others who have had it in the past would rave about the taste, quality, presentation and quantity of the meal. They could sometimes not even finish the entire helping. However, this was to the other extreme. My husband and guest were finished in 6 bites of the fish. You should have more than 6 bites for $27.99. The manager came by to see if everything was alright. My husband was embarrassed and didn't want to make a scene in front of our guests by saying anything. On the way home he called the manager. He explained the situation of past and present dishes really only to bring it to he and the chefs attention. The manager said there had been no changes. Pretty much saying my husband was a liar. He told the mgr. he wasn't sure how long the manager had been there but this has never been the case over the years of him ordering it. He then said he would check with the chef and offered us a coupon for an entree. We were not looking for a coupon, but to bring it to someones attention. Hopefully, it will be looked into. Won't order that again.
We had an early reservation for 5:15 p.m. We arrived on time and I immediately received a text from the restaurant stating our table was ready. When we approached the host stand, we were told we would have to wait for our table. I explained we received a text from the restaurant stating our table was ready. However, the host, who was polite, still said we would have to wait. Fortunately, it was a short wait, about five minutes, but when we were being seated, we noticed approximately thirty percent of the tables were unoccupied and had been set for dining. It seems odd that we had to wait, although several tables were available. I am not certain if making us needlessly wait was a ploy to convince us to order drinks from the bar while we waited for our table or just poor management. Regardless, this was our last visit to Cooper's Hawk. (We should not our server was great!)
Getting samples of wine in advance is a huge plus. I'm no wine expert so tasting a few gave me direction when deciding what to purchase.
Awesome server, awesome food! Always a great time at Cooper’s Hawk!
Service just met expectations. Nice guy but seemed overly busy. I had a bottle of sparkling wine and I kept my own glass full.
We sat in the bar area, for the first time, it was nice and a friendly environment. Food was good, as I tried a new entree.
Love going to Cooper’s Hawk! Char & I love having Alma & Beverly help us out for our wine tastings and the special, shrimp with grits, was to die for!
Overpriced poor quality food. Ahi tuna (had it several times before) was not good. Last few visits we have not been impressed for the high price...over $100for a burger, buttered noodles, tuna and a couple drinks.
It seems like the food quality is going down a bit from the past. The french fries were ice cold and the bread kind of burnt. I also had eaten there the previous evening and didn't like my BBQ Chicken salad at all. The chicken tasted old.
It's been a bit disappointing.
Service was not good, they ran out of steak, never came to refill water, and didn’t recognize it was a birthday even after mentioning a birthday reward and it was checked on open table. Very disappointing. I feel like they were understaffed.
It was very hot in the restaurant. Uncomfortably hot! Meals were not consistent. Three Caesar salads were three different sizes. Two were under dressed and one over dressed. Two groupers also significantly different in size. Waiter was pleasant. He was uncomfortably hot also!!! Said he would talk to his manager.
Ok, good for what we expected
Would always highly recommend Cooper's hawk, great menu, and god solid wines if that is what you like
Paige was our server. Everything was positive about the experience. When we are in Illinois again, will return
When our food came, I had to send the fries back as they were cold (this is not the first time),
Also, on another plate the vegetables were cold.
I love this place but nothing worse than cold fries and vegetables.
Great staff, ambiance and food & wine was delicious.
The food at this particular restaurant was good. For a chain restaurant - the quality of food and the value was good. I would recommend it to others.
Everything was wonderful
Tried the grilled cheese with some kind of meat. Way too much bread. My friend enjoyed her dinner, Good place to go. Just a bad dinner choice on my part.
I had the chicken piccata and as always very good. Our server Cat was friendly and very attentive to all our needs.
When we received the appetizers they were Luke warm not hot. This was the same with my dinner, I had the Salmon (of which I have allot when I come here) the Salmon was luke warm and was overcooked.
Food was fabulous as always! Spent a very special evening at Cooper's Hawk with friends.
Amazing food, amazing service, my favorite place to go for a nice meal!
We enjoyed a lovely date night together with delicious food and accompanied by a great vintage!
Great dinner - love the new lower calorie section on the menu! would love to see calories on all the entrees eventually! Celebrated a friend's birthday - it was great!
Nice people the manager came over and introduced himself that was a nice touch. The problem I have are the tables are too close together. And those booths made for two are fine in the summer but not in the winter when you wish to take off your coat. And the spotlights on the ceiling shine down on some of those tables too brightly.
We love coming to Cooper's. The food is always excellent and the help are well trained
