Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Rockville
If you are looking for a great collection of wines with some great food, this is the place to go.
The entry tasting bar was over crowded and the regulars seemed quite territorial. The main bar was also crowded but much less "stressful" and the bar tenders were friendly and attentive. As for the main dining room the lighting was too bright and the noise level nearly prohibited normal table conversation. In as much as we were celebrating our 22nd anniversary the entire evening was "a challenge." The server was quite good and very friendly. I doubt that we'll be rushing to return.
Great place...food and everything perfect!!!
As others have said the service leaves much to be desired. Had to ask waiter to remove appetizer plates as main dish was coming. Betty’s potato’s were a wet mush with no potato taste to it. Food is adequate but Stanford grille at a similar price point is MUCH better.
This was our first time at Cooper Hawk’s and frankly we were a little disappointed. There were six in our party and the quality of the food we ordered was very inconsistent. The one bright spot was the service which was quite good.
If we are to return the quality of the entrees would have to be improved significantly!
Our server was not as attentive as in the past. Also, brought out my food which was well overdone. Unable to eat it. Extremely noisy. Was very disappointed.
A really great place to dine, the only problem was the drunken idiots behind us.
We had a lovely dinner here. A bit hard to find location, but worth it.For those who have never been there, they are very generous in their wine tastings, offering tastings before you order even a glass of wine ... and not at all upset if you had a tasting then decided not to order. Wonderful to have a restaurant with background music and sound management such that you can actually carry on conversations! Food was obviously cooked to order and delivered promptly because everything was fresh, hot, and delicious.
First time there. Food, wine and service were great. Only complaint: loudness in the dining area.
It’s a really nice place with slot of choices on the menu! I’m looking forward to going back to try more choices!
Great experience. Our waitress Sara was amazing! Super attentive! Thanks for a great evening!
Service was excellent food as always was excellent and many choices.
Wish I could have given a better review because the food and wine is delicious and the restaurant is so cute! I waited to review after visiting several times and every time the service has been sub-par. This most recent visit was the worst. It took over 20 minutes for our wine flight to come and our server barely acknowledged our waiting and kept saying “I got you”...sadly he didn’t! I’m hoping you guys can get it together because you have a good product! Please figure out the service problem!! I think it will be awhile before myself, my family or several of our friends head back.
Just a really fun and fabulous time. I love the concept of starting with the wine tasting. Great service! The food was fabulous. So happy this restaurant is near us. We will be back this week
Appetizers were very good but 2 of our friends sent back their dinners since one fish dish was very salty and the shrimp dish was overcooked.
Late 8:30pm on a weekday
Restaurant was not crowded at all but our server kept disappearing- wants able to order our bottle of wine until almost done with our food. It was our first time here and will definitely come back and try again soon. Food and wine was good, good prices, big place nice decor
The service, Vincent, was extremely friendly. The food was pretty good. The only reasons why I didn't give it a full 5 star was because the prices were pretty high for how the food taste, and that other tables got bread and butter before their entrees and our table didn't.
Very nice restaurant very good food and great wine
Love this restaurant. Salad was served and dinner came while having salad.
Started off not so great but ended superbly! Our first time was as a result of a high recommendation from a friend. Our waiter, Evan allowed us to sample several wines before settling on the Cooper's Hawk Lux and an Old Vine Zin. We placed our food orders and then waited. In due time, Evan apologized for the wait and offered a comped soup. My mother and I declined but hubby chose the Lobster Bisque. Excellent! Then we waited some more. Finally, as the food was presented, Jacob came by and apologized again for the nearly 45 minute wait and explained that 4!!! cooks had simply not shown up. We completely understood and appreciated the honesty. He offered to comp our glasses of wine, the soup and a round of desserts. We decided against desserts but I asked for a second glass of the chardonnay. He not only provided the glass but also gave us a bottle to take home. This was way, above and beyond "Good Customer Service". The food was superb. The Jambalaya is outstanding. We will definitely be returning.
From the minute we entered, we were warmly greeted by the wine bar staff & offered a complimentary glass of wine. We sat on the patio as it was a lovely fall day. Michael our server was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. We had the corn chowder and crab and lobster bisque to start. Both were full of delicious morsels. Our entrees were chicken piccata which had just the right amount of lemon and gnocchi with spinach, mushrooms and butternut squash puree in a brown butter sage cream sauce. It was heaven on a plate. We saved room for dessert which was lemon Ice wine cheesecake with berries. A potent alcoholic yummy dessert. The carmelized banana bread with bananas, rum caramel sauce and candied walnuts is to die for. It is THE best banana bread and the portion could easily be shared with 3-4 guests.
I will definitely be back to sample more of their delicious offerings.
Service was very slow, and we had to wait 15-20 mins for a table even though we had a reservation and arrived on time. Food was consistent and good.
Great time. Great server.
Excellent service. Excellent fiod
Great food and service! Thrilled to finally have a great restaurant in Rockville!
Lots of friendly and helpful servers and hostesses, but the kitchen was very slow. My steak was well done and not medium rare. I sent it back and just asked for the check.
My husband and I were not impressed at all. It is a very nice new restaurant, which is very tastefully decorated but the scallop main meal was very unimpressive. They highlighted this on their website and the waitress recommended it but looked like it was thrown on the plate.
VERY PLEASANT EVE, ALTHOUGH FOOD PREPARATION WAS SLOW. APPARENTLY, THE RESTAURANT WAS ALSO HOLDING A SPECIAL GROUP WHICH CAUSED THE DELAY.
I was disappointed in my blackened ahi tuna tacos. It was hard to even find the tuna sliver in each one. I know this was 400 calories but honestly I wonder if it even made into 400
Great food and wine. Will come back.
This is our second visit in on week. It’s a nice place but all alcohol drinks are very expensive! $10.25 for a rail drink?? Every thing is new so it’s pretty and clean, service is good. Lots of staff and managers around. The food is very good and well presented. My wife told me the ladies room was not well attended, lots of paper towels and trash and only three stalls.
This place is really great - we came here for a girls night and left members! Michelle did a great job with our wine tasting and made sure we had a blast!
What a delightful, good-looking winery bar/restaurant! My friend and I went for happy hour. We had complementary tastes of the barrel red of the day, plus the red wine of the month from John Legend's vineyards. Both very good. We took advantage of the happy hour prices for glasses of wine as well as a grazing meal of appetizers, all of which were so delicious, fresh and well-presented. Finishing touch was a fine key lime dessert. We had started at an early time so, by the time we were leaving, the place was "buzzing." Evidently the "word is out" to visit this new addition to the dining scene!
Final note: the staff members are very friendly and helpful from the front desk to the dining room waiters. We had a bubbly, knowledgeable waitress, Sarah, who we truly liked. I'm sure that if we had taken advantage of the wine tasting bar we would have found the bartenders to be equally friendly and helpful with tasting suggestions.
We went on a Monday night, fairly late for dinner. We were not asked if we preferred a table or booth though both were available. Our service had many mistakes. fir example, they didn't bring bread, then when they did we had to ask for plates.
The food was delicious but my portion size was huge and my friend's was small. In would think they should have been comparable since they were similarly priced entrees.
I have been to this restaurant in many cities and love the menu and concept but I didn't leave this particular meal feeling impressed.
An off night I guess.
The hostess was not very pleasant. We were 10 minutes early for a 7:00 Sunday evening reservation and she dismissively told me they would seat us at 7. There are nicer ways to say that we needed to wait. The server was lovely but the service was very slow. We were there for 2 hours and didn’t even get dessert. The food was good and it has a great menu.
Wait staff was very professional and polite, but it took too long to get what we ordered.
Food was great with excellent service.
We were unimpressed with the poor service. It was a busy evening but multiple mistakes were made in our orders. Also bread was not given in the beginning as told and we had to ask for it halfway through. Food was just ok considering the hype.
Super nice first time experience. Went there for anniversary dinner and was afraid I wouldn’t make it for reservation because of a nail in my tire. Called them up and explained the situation and they couldn’t have been more understanding. Still made it on time but it was a giant stress relief that they were so understanding. Ambiance is very nice, our sever was outstanding, and food was very good. Only think I will advise people of is that the food does take a bit longer than usual to get to you. But that’s to be expected of a new restaurant that’s very busy so don’t go there starving and you’ll enjoy yourselves. Eat some bread and enjoy the wine, of which there’s a good selection. Look forward to going back soon.
Taking our daughter out for her birthday. Service was excellent. Food overall was very good but my wife felt that her salmon was a little over done.
