Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Reston
I always enjoy the food at Cooper's Hawk. I had the meatballs and the BBQ chicken salad--the lighter version. My friends had the chicken burger. My only issue was that our server seemed non existent. I'm a wine club member and he took my card at the start of the meal and then proceeded to mention the wine club at the table twice. These two times, however, were the only two times he dropped by our table. There were long periods where he was not in sight or he simply walked by us and didn't bother to ask if we wanted something else to drink. Because he took more than 20 minutes to stop by after we had finished the entire meal, we didn't wait for him to ask about dessert--we just asked for the check and left. The place was not that busy and the waiter seemed as if he was on a different planet when he spoke. Thankfully, we were with an old friend and had a lot to talk about--but it would have been nice to have had an additional glass of wine or think about dessert. I'll be back but now I'll know to ask for a different waiter from now on.
We sat outside on the patio and it was quiet and intimate. One of the specials was the roadhouse burger and it was delicious! Wine was great as always and the service was also quality.
We just had wine and appetizers but I look forward to returning for dinner.
Goooooood service. Woooonderful wine. Fantastic food.
The service and food were very good. The manager, Darcy, dealt graciously with several seating number changes. Our server was excellent (great job, Max!) and the gluten free menu had a dairy-free option for our party member who needed both. The seating was so-so (high traffic area) and noise level a tad loud. Not enough to ruin anyone's experience.
Food is always excellent! The Brussel Sprouts the the best I’ve tasted.
Excellent food and excellent service. We were seated on time and the drinks and food came out at the right time.
Had an early dinner so it wasn't too crowded in the window area yet. Food was delicious as always and service was great. It was pretty cold when we first sat down, but when we mentioned the temperature to the waiter he quickly adjusted it so it warmed up. Overall another great experience at Cooper's Hawk.
Chicken madeira was very good but grouper sauce was very salty and the fish
pieces were thin more like flounder than grouper which in my experience is a
much thicker piece of fish.
Waiter was helpful but service seemed slow.
The food was very salty and the waiter wasn’t polite. He never smiled or had conversations with us. I understand he was busy but that’s what makes it a good experience.
Excellent food and atmosphere.
First time dining here. Great service, great space, and enjoyable (reasonably-priced) wine flight tastings --- but very mediocre food. The pistachio-encrusted grouper was especially disappointing (soggy, greasy mush). Looks like we'll be sticking with the local NoVA chain of Great American restaurants for our fish dishes (always well-prepared and tasty). Cooper's Hawk has a huge menu (and perhaps that's part of the problem). We'll try them again - and hope for a better experience on the food front.
Beautiful restaurant, great wine and service . Food was good .. love the pairing reccomendations
Pariss was exceptional! He guided us through the menu and had a wonderful sense of humor (which resonated very well with my enthusiastic group). A portion of my group did a wine tasting prior to dinner and Brian saved their day! (apparently the original wine pourer wasn’t able to answer some of their questions so Brian was brought it and my friends said he hit a grand slam). The food and wine were sublime. Definitely recommend Coopers Hawk for special/celebratory occasions. Thank you for a memorable experience!
Seemed a bit understaffed so longer waited for everything
Surprised that food portions were so large and good! We do not drink much; so nice that one can still enjoy the experience.
Terrible food - sure the fries were frozen ... just a wine bar really - horrible food
General comment: Difficult to carry on conversation at times. Great experience though and we will be back. Love the gluten free options!
My reservation was there yet hostess sat us at wrong table. I run a lunch time group of ladies and as a result a new member could not find us. The waiter for the table was not accommodating whatsoever. We had to keep chasing him for service.
Amazing restaurant. Love the wine and food. Patrick at the tasting bar is wonderful.
We had a mini reunion of friends for lunch on a weekday. The waiter was very accommodating for various food needs, gave good reviews of the food and wine. Was spot-on for our wine selection. The menu had many twists on favorite lunch meals which made it desirable to return. The food was very fresh and dessert looked like it had just been handmade right for our order. All delicious. Wish I had indeed done the Wine Club as he had suggested.
We are somewhat frequent visitors to the Reston area and always try to have a meal at Cooper's Hawk. We love the food and the atmosphere. Keep up the good work!
Dinner was perfect. Our server was patient and accommodating!
Been here twice and the food is always very good. Love the menu and I have yet to be disappointed with anything on the menu. Service is definitely lacking though, each time we've visited there have been a few service issues. First visit a server accidentally broke a glass at our table on my friend's plate, and everyone understands that accidents happen, but no manager touched the table, no food was remade, serious mis-step in service. Our last visit was just as impressive concerning the menu selections just marred by unattentive and slow service.
The setup of the restaurant is attractive and the ambience is fine. Our reservations were honored right on time. We were a little early, but free tastings of two wines were provided while we waited. The appetizers we had were very large, enough for more than two people. Two of our party ordered barramundi, and the fish arrived a bit overcooked; they weren't bad, but they could have been better.
Great menu that has tons of options and is not at all expensive.
21st Birthday dinner for my niece
We tried a variety of appetizers and dinner entrees. Everyone really enjoyed their tasty meals. The wine and drink options were great too.
Very good food service and wine . The server was very good.
Service was not good that evening. Appetizers came, but we had to wait for silverware. Wine decanter came but had to wait for the wine. Not a great experience as we were treating friends from Canada.
Jonathon is over the top attentive and hilarious and we try to sit at his table for service. The overall ambiance is electric and the buzz is contagious..we are a small group of 4 ladies who meet monthly and can’t imagine being anywhere else. The wine is delicious and the apps are soooo good. We love the vibe and the fact that they allow happy hour in the dining room..It’s better than therapy!
Food was good. Surprisingly wine was not very good.
The short rib risotto was delicious. Our server was delightful, professional and helpful. We’ll be back often.
Coopers Hawk has awesome food. Waiters are very nice and helpful.
Thanks for anniversary tribute. Appreciated the complimentary flutes of champagne to toast our night out !!
We loved everything the only thing was that the lights kept flickering.
My fiancé and I celebrated our anniversary at Cooper Hawk, and I plan to make this a regular date night. Our server, Jeff, was fabulous and gave us great wine and dinner suggestions, plus champagne and truffles on the house to finish our evening. We look forward to many more date nights at Cooper Hawk!
Everything was superb, the greeting, food, service, just fantastic! I should emphasize the food was outstanding! I mentioned to the waiter that I had brought my son there for his birthday (25th), and he had the kitchen fix a little something for him-on the house, which was over the top service!
We will return and I definitely recommend Cooper's Hawk in Reston, VA!
Thank you for a great experience Cooper's Hawk!
