Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Reston
Food and service was great. Noise levels very high.
Service was slow and food order was incorrect. Once food order was correct, the food was mediocre at best.Disappointing because was had a good experience in the past.
Excellent service. A little pricey. A little too much sauce on some of the dishes. Will come again, though.
They need to be less worried about customer flow, and more about customers being relaxed and not rushed. Plates removed while the last bite was being taken. Desert menu offered before all members of the party were finished.
Jorge was our wait staff and was fun and engaging! Like he actually enjoyed his job!! The temp and humidity were perfect for outdoor seating at 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We spent 2 fun hours catching up with each other and planning future things together. We had a shrimp appetizer on top of guacamole that was quite tasty. My husband had a flight of wine and had a glass of a Pinot Noir after tasting another that I did not care for. They offer tastes so you can branch out without wasting money. All of the staff works together and kept in touch with us to be sure all of our needs were being met along the way. Can't say enough good things about this place.
Coopers Hawk is always a great dining experience. The food and staff are exceptional. The value for the $8 wine tasting unmatched!
It was our first time in the expanded outside seating. Absolutely delightful!
The food was very good. Loved the wine selection. The waiter sat down at our table to explain the wines and menu. We are first-timers and would definitely go back!
The food we had was mostly good and the wine pairing suggestions made choosing a breeze. The menu is varied and there is something that will appeal to almost everyone on it. However, the Short Ribs were a little too salty. My husband, who adds salt to everything, felt his food was salty. My Parmesan Crusted Shrimp was good. The noise level was high but not so high we couldn’t carry on a conversation. The service is excellent and the wine choices are vast. We will go back and try something else on the menu because most of our meal was good.
We went for a wine tasting and happy hour! The wine tasting was great, and we were able to substitute a few wines when we wanted to. Happy Hour was good, too! There was a wait to get our drinks, but the food came quickly. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable!
Our family dined here for a Friday outing and enjoyed it very much. Great food!
Good, Lord, I have tried to like this place. But, after a dozen visits, I give up. The hostesses have usually been weird and unfriendly, and on this visit, three of them were talking among themselves and ignored me. The staff often does know about the wine. I requested a quiet booth for a business meeting and my colleague and I had to literally cup our hands around our mouths and scream at each other. We finally had to request to be moved. This was handled with grace and expediency. Yet... my expensive strip steak was mediocre and flavorless. The kitchen closed at 9:30 on a Friday night so we were very grudgingly served coffee and dessert after dinner. Our waiter took our wine serving device from us as we drank our coffee because his back hurt and he had to clean it. The wine is mediocre and the wine club is hyped and pushed. The wine advertised on our table was not available by the bottle unless we joined the wine club (roll eyes). This is typical of this place, in my experience. For the prices and the schtick, this place is not measuring up. I am finished. Too many other good options close by.
Waitress did the best she could but the manager had her assigned to two sections at different corners of the patio.
Food was okay, limited vegetarian options for one guest. I had crab cakes and they were grilled & burned. Not good value, would recommend different location next time.
Marilyn in the wine tasting area was fabulous...She was helpful with the membership and was helpful with the wine recommendations. Jordan was our server and he was so congenial and flexible. We had a lovely get together! Thank you for the great experience!
Quite honestly I have no idea how CH Reston is always so packed - I’ve been multiple times trying to be optimistic about my previous experiences but each time the service is honestly awful. The food is good and the wine is okay (sometimes a real hit, other times a real miss), but it’s the service every time that has been disappointing. This last time was just last night (06/19/19) and while our server was friendly, he was spending all his time socializing with other tables instead of asking us for refills of wine (which we would’ve ordered had he bothered to stop by) or refilling our waters/generally checking in. Was going to order dessert but decided not to as we guessed it would probably take another 30 min to order that. We then went to pick up some bottles of wine from the tasting bar because we are part of the club. Three people working, two of which weren’t busy with customers, and had to wait 10 min for anyone to notice us. When she did (she was the most busy of the three) she said she’d be right with us soon - still had to wait another 5 min for her to actually help us despite her not helping other customers in those 5 min. Going to try to cancel our membership if it’s such a hassle just to pick up bottles of wine. I really recommend trying to train all of your staff to better manage the volume of customers.
Meatball entree came out cold. We let the waiter know after the fact and he said that we should have let him know at the time so he could reheat it.
Always a great experience and value.
I usually have a great time at Cooper’s Hawk. Unfortunately, tonight wasn’t that great. Tony did our wine tasting, and he was extremely disengaged. He was just basically a wine pourer; not what we’ve come to expect.
My husband also told the manager about the fact that there was no soap in the men’s restroom. She wasn’t super concerned and said, “We’re working on it.” Yuck!
The bright spot of the night was our server Yuri! He was charming and attentive.
However, based on the performance of the rest of the cast and crew, I’m reconsidering my Cooper’s Hawk membership. Hopefully tonight was just a one off.
love to dine in Cooper's Hawk. Will be back for more
We go to Cooper's Hawk usually once a month. While the food is consistently good and the service in the restaurant and at the bar is typically excellent, the service at the tasting bar is inconsistent at best. Depending on which staff member you get the tasting experience can be engaging and informative, or on the other end of the spectrum, downright awful making you feel as if you've created a huge burden by stepping up to the bar.
Our server Monica was efficient, friendly. All the staff were exceptional.
Great Father's Day dinner. Nathan Jordan was an awesome server! We had a wonderful dining experience. We will be back to see you again!
I love Cooper’s Hawk and am a wine club member. The service today at the Reston location was way off, which was disappointing (table not cleaned off when we were seated, asked two people for a glass of wine- finally had to leave the table and go in search of someone, food took awhile). I’ll continue to go to Cooper’s Hawk, but will stick with the Ashburn location instead.
Our server, Jonathan, was amazing! He was prompt, attentive and had an energetic personality. The food was fresh and tasty, and we really appreciated the lunch sized portions. Wine pairings are suggested on the menu alongside the food offerings, which is helpful. I was there with my family for Father's Day, however I can see coming back with girlfriends for ladies' evening out.
We had a party of four. Great outside lounge area. We w fed up eating outside as well. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The wine was great(had the CH pinot noir and white blend). A friend and I got the steak medallion special with mushroom ravioli and lemon herb salad. It was delicious and the perfect portion of each! The only disappointment was that one of the steaks was over done. Asked for medium, but there was no pink center. The pork chops were the largest I’ve ever seen! It was our first time dining at CH, but we won’t hesitate to go back. Definitely check it out!
The server was excellent but he had too many tables. Food was really slow to come out but excellent.
Server was outstanding
Took very good care of us. Order had issues. Kept us informed and fixed it for us.
Great food and good wine. Had just apps and dessert last time. Saved room for entrees this time and not disappointed. Will be back more often.
Father’s Day celebration, the food was very good, my risotto with shrimp & scallops was delicious I truly appreciated our waiter who was very attentive & friendly with all of us, especially with my 2 grandsons, 2 1/2 & 1, he was very patient
Filet was under cooked sent back only to return under cooked again. Grouper was very salty it had a nice flavor but could not eat it. Wine so so. Server was good. It was our first time there probably will not come back. Oh! also the table next to us had French fries left on the floor and they remained there for longer than they should have. Gross!!
Worst experience ever. This brand is going way downhill. We were on a very special date, waited 25 minutes to be greeted by someone who wasnt even our server. Then when our server comes over, she doesnt introduce herself, just asks what we want to drink, order for apps and entrees, all in one foul swoop. The Churrasco Steak tasted like liver. I brought my date bc ive experienced great service on every level here, but I’m extremely embarrassed that I hyped this place up to be so good, and it was just meh. To be honest, save the money, go to Carabba’s or even Outback, food quality is the same, service is better. No manager visit or anything. Tim McHenry would be proud!
Well-lit for the dinner hour (but not too bright). Louder than I expected but there were several large tables full of people.
Pork belly tostadas were good but were literally the size of tortilla chips - pork was great, but the radishes were a pain and didn’t serve a purpose (the chip was already crunchy).
Fish and chips were tasty and the tartar sauce was killer, but the fries were a real bummer. Who wants shoestring French fries in place of legit “chips,” i.e. steak fries? A nice seasoned ketchup would have been great, too, but instead it was some weird chipotle mayo dip - not good and didn’t at all pair with fish and chips.
It was my birthday. While my husband told the staff, they didn’t offer to do anything for my birthday, even though other people at tables near us clearly were celebrated. Just a little disappointed with that.
Otherwise, everything was great
My friend and I had a most delightful lunch outdoors. He had the pork medallions and I had chicken picatta. What made the meal most amazing was Jorge, our server. He was friendly and quite fun--he also had the most engaging sense of humor and smile. Ask for him when you dine here--he's the best server on staff!
I really want to like this restaurant because the food is good. The service is another story. A business lunch and it takes 45 minutes to get our food after ordering! No apology or attention from our waiter. This is not the first slow lunch I've had so will not be booking for lunch again.
Overall very happy, outstanding service and great waiter. My only critique is that I requested a bottle of Almond Champaign at the table at the time of my visit. I confirmed the day before of my reservation and my request of a bottle of Almond Champaign ready at the table for my girlfriends birthday. Over the phone I was told I had nothing to worry about as they have my request in front of them and it would be fullfilled. Upon arriving and getting my table for my reservation, there was no champaign at the table so I had to order it from the server after double checking twice that it would be done. It would have been a nice surprise for my girlfriend to have her favorite champaign ready at the table as requested and double checked prior to our arrival.
Very pleased with the service and the staff was accommodating, serving us before, upon request, our reservation. Extremely appreciative.
Overall this is a great location with helpful, friendly staff that are very accommodating. The only reason this is not a full on 5 star event was 2 of our steaks were dry. The 6 other people at our table had flawless dinners. Love this location and will continue to support and recommend it to my friends.
The server was very forgetful. It had several times. He got our food mixed up and then we had to wait like five minutes for one entree (there was only three of us).
