Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Reston
I had a great experience for my son’s Birthday....
Food was delicious!!Service was great! Always an enjoyable time
Excellent food and service! Never disappointed at Cooper’s Hawk
Excellent food and service. Great meal. Would recommend highly!!!!!!!!!!!!!'!!!!!
It took the waiter some time to come to our table at first. I went by the front to talk to one of the hostess to let them know. They were absolutely amazing and sincerely apologized. The service was great. Definitely recommend it. Food and drinks are always amazing!
Very good food and awesome service. The Chicken entrees were really good.
Wine tasting was great; we had a good time there, but the table service has been lacking 3 out of the last 4 or so times we've dined in your Reston location. The servers seem new and inexperienced
I found Cooper's Hawk to be a bit meh. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad it was fine. I ordered a filet cooked medium with Betty's mashed potatoes. I got a filet that was cooked well done, the part that wasn't well done was medium well and it was chewy. The steak was seasoned nicely but cooked wrong and for $30+ it should be right. It also came out with mac and cheese which was not what I ordered. I tried the mac and it was okay but it had been baked, had about 1/4" of breadcrumbs on top and the ends of the pasta were baked hard and crunchy which was not great. Normally I'd flag our server right away and have it recooked or something but we'd waited quite a while for it to come out and our server was already kind of slow about coming over and checking in so I ate some of it. I saved about half to show the server it was wrong and he apologized and took the plate. I wasn't sure if he was going to have it re-made or comp that part of the meal.
We ordered a key lime pie for desert. It was also in the okay range, I wouldn't order again. The pie was pretty small and it had very little in the way of key lime filling. Most of the pie was graham cracker and the whole thing was buried under about 6 inches of whipped cream. The little bit of filling in the pie tasted good but there was just not enough of it.
In the end the manager comped the desert. Did that make up for messing up $34 of filet? Nope. The manager didn't even come over he/she just took it off the check so there was no discussion over it.
In the end it comes down to this. The food tastes pretty good but my order was wrong and I felt like the remedy was unsatisfactory. Service was meh but I chalk it up to a busy weekend, they had a ton of servers running around but it kind of seemed unorganized. Key lime pie is not a good dessert option unless you have a thing for graham crackers and whipped cream. Would I eat there again? maybe but probably not.
Kind busy place for Mother's Day. We had a good experience other times that's why we came back but for that special occasion it was very difficult, sorry!
Reservation went smoothly and we had a nice table. Service was prompt and friendly. However, we ordered a soup and that was forgotten. The food presentation was very nice and delicious though we had an issue with the small portion of the fish dish. The deserts were very good as well
Enjoyable Mother’s Day. Our waiter Patrick was excellent. Love Cooper’s Hawk
Our server Jonathan was amazing, friendly and recommended some delicious dishes.
Overall experience was fine. There was a longer than necessary and desired wait to be greeted by a server (had to ask a hostess to find someone), but the server we got was awesome. It was Mother’s Day and a man was walking around handing out roses but never came to my table. I didn’t mind too much but it was the thought of being passed over that didn’t feel good (it was me, my husband and 4 kids so it was clear I was a Mom). Last year we were offered a feee glass of sparkling wine and a chocolate cover star berry (I think) so I was expecting something special for Moms this year too. Also the server never mentioned a chocolate covered strawberry was included in kids meal and we never got them. None of these things are a big deal but worth mentioning. Food is still wonderful.
It was our first time here. The food was good, but very small portions. The waiter forgot my Mom's Wine on Mother's Day, I had to remind him and she didn't get the wine until we were about to leave and still charged us for it.
Food was absolutely delicious. So many food and drink options. We had a reservation and it still took them 20+ minutes to seat us. It was another 20+ minutes after we were seated to even get a drink. The wait staff was super slow that would be my main complaint but the food made it worth the wait.
It was so cold in the restaurant - we asked twice for temperature to be adjusted warmer - I ate with my coat on and so did the table next to me - we rushed to our dinner just to leave and be warmer
The food was good, although it came very late and the steak was overdone. The service was very slow and this was entirely due to our server. The tables around us came after us and were served prior to us. the manager was fantastic and apologized and paid for our meal. The server seemed overwhelmed and was undertrained. would return in hopes that the service improves.
I think they were having an off night as my husband has been here many times and has had good experiences. We waited in the super crowded lobby for quite some time until we were seated for our reservation. While our waiter was outstanding, our appetizer took a long time to come out (30ish minutes). A manager came over and apologized. Our dinner was served before we were done our appetizer and the table was crammed. My salmon was dry, almost as it had been ready and sitting out for some time. Also, place was ridiculously cold and I was freezing the entire time (in pants and a long sleeved blouse). Will likely give the one in Ashburn a shot but with so many great places to go out in Reston, I wouldn’t pick it for a date night again. Disappointed.
I think I would need to return a 2nd time to get a better sense. We were a few minutes late for a reservation. The hostess scolded us then after a few minutes we were seated. They didn't give us a high chair even though I included in the reservation that we had an infant with us. Because we were hungry I tried to tell the waiter (who took a while to get to us) that we wanted to order right away. He insisted on bringing us water first. That's fine. We finally ordered it took about 15-20min for us to get our food. We were also given one tiny loaf of bread for 4 adults. We looked at other tables that received one loaf of bread per two people. We asked for more bread and never got it. The child's food came out right away which was nice. The food was pretty good. I enjoyed my burger, "the leonard" and my dad really liked his maui shrimp. My mom got the surf and turf which was not a lot of food and my sister got a turkey burger which was ok. Apparently they were really busy. I would try them again though, and hope for another more responsive waiter. We arrived around 3:25pm for 3:15pm reservations but didn't get our food until after 4pm. I was disappointed because originally I had mother's day reservations at Mon Ami Gabi but cancelled them to try something new.
Once again we had a wonderful experience! Celebrated early Mother's Day, the service and food outstanding! Best part of being a member, being able to give bottles of wine as gifts right there after the tasting, knowing the wines will be enjoyed also at home.
We LOVE the concept!
Our waiter was very polite and professional, the hostess was ready for us when we came in, and had a table open, our waiter came over as soon as we sat down to ask if we’d like anything to drink, very prompt service. The food was excellent, albeit on the pricier side, but this is a more upscale establishment. Overall I’d say it was a pretty great meal.
We love this restaurant. The food and wine are very good. They offer dry, sweet, fruity, wines.
The risotto dishes are wonderful. These are my go to dishes. The steak salad is my favorite salad.
Most times the service is exceptional, but this time it was very slow and the server was forgetful.
Worst service ever. Server forgot our appetizers. Food took over 1 hour to come. Not up to usual standards. Almost ruined my sister’s birthday.
We eat at Cooper's Hawk 4-5 times/ month and it never disappoints. The food is always good and wine is a real value ... We prefer the Barrel Reserve!!
The food quality and presentation is normally better the flank steak had too much juice on plate, dessert was outstanding
Tried the ahi sashimi appetizer for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the balance of flavors, reenforcing my preference for the appetizer section of the menu. Smaller plates packed with flavor, texture, and fresh ingredients. Can never go wrong with the chicken pot stickers served over a mild salad and the tostadas.
My daughters birthday
We celebrated my birthday with dinner and wine on the back patio. Our table was ready for us, even though we spent a little longer at the wine-tasting bar. Appetizer, entrees were all excellent. Service friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
Having had pleasant experiences here before, we booked the restaurant for an anniversary dinner. Unfortunately, the service was surprisingly negligent and almost nonexistent.
It took five minutes after being seated to be even noticed, we had to ask for silverware and napkins after the bread was dumped at our table, and while we ordered our drinks and entrees together, we didn’t see our server until far after our food was delivered.
Even then, we sat for about 30 minutes with no attention at all. In fact, we had friends also celebrating an anniversary at an adjacent table, and we watched their server drop by frequently, deliver a slice of celebratory cake, and come to our table to give us drinks on them.
Meanwhile, we had to wave down our server to ask for the check and only then did he say “I only knew it was your anniversary until half way though- did you want some champagne?”
We declined because we were past done.
Probably for lunch or non-weekend meal. It was too busy and although our waiter was awesome, he had too many tables/patrons so it was a very long dining experience.
I want to love Coopers Hawk but they are consistently inconsistent. They have been open too long for the issues not to be taken care of. I ordered scallops. I got 5 scallops for a dinner portion. Seems like I got shorted 1 scallop. One of my dinner companions thought their meal was overpriced for what they received.
I'm a wine club member at CH so it's a regular restaurant for my wife and I as well as friends. Great food, great wine and great service. Great for any event!!
Ashburn location is much better than Reston.
Service was terrible. I'm not going back to Reston.
Max was my server and he was great! He gave awesome recommendations for food, had a good sense of humor, and checked ik on us often. He immediately made me and my best friend feel right at home while still remaining professional. As a wine club member, I will definitely be back and will be asking for Max!!!
Max was our server and he was PHENOMENAL! Very attentive AND personable. He ROCKS!
We were impressed - there's a comfort level from the moment you walk in. We're not big wine drinkers, but the waitstaff didn't treat us any differently than the other diners - many of whom had these cool wine dispensers perched on their tables.
Hubs had the prime rib sandwich - looked & smelled wonderful & included crispy fries. I had a small salad that was fresh & flavorful, plus the Caprese flatbread. We both took home leftovers which were quite yummy the next day, btw.
We will put C-H into our date night rotation, for sure.
Had a great dinner and Jonathan, our server, was fantastic. We are wine members and frequent Coopers at least once a month to eat and then pick up our monthly wines. Food is always great - wonderful presentation, and service is great too.
