Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Centerville
Great service and good food, but awfully small portions.
The food was great, just somewhat slow especially for number of people. Everyone was very friendly. I’m giving overall 4 stars.
Wines only from Illinois? At a table wine level. Expensive. No real wine list. Most are blends poorly identified in origin. Cheese plate was with butter bread, no toast. A small pot with yogurt? as per my wife with oil, I thought aioli without garlic. The manager said burrata, recognized not the burrata I showed him in my cell. Clearly, not burrata as we have tasted in Italy, Peru, France or bought at Dorothy Lane Mkt. In Dayton. My churrasco with chimichurri was a charbroiled piece of meat with soggy fries, charred vegetables and a light green sauce cream base. Not chimichurri as eaten in Argentina, Peru, NY or Chicago. I returned the plate.
We have eaten at Cooper Hawk many times mostly at Liberty Towncenter. Were very excited when they opened one closer. The food was very good particularly the surf and turf salmon and filet. The others in the party had grouper and cheeseburger which were enjoyed. Unfortunately one couple ordered salad which did not arrive till after they received and were already eating their meal. And we had to remind the waiter. They appeared slightly disorganized which is not normal for Cooper Hawk. Was little disappointed as I had raced about the restaurant and the service did not meet expectations. Will go back and give them another chance but hope this was anomaly
The appetizers and wine flights were fantastic! The steak was one of the best ones I’ve had in a long time
Love this place!
Server forgot to put in our entree order. Then when manager said he was putting it is a rush, still took 15 ish minutes to come out. Sides were not cold, but not fresh either. Food was decent, service was decent, prices were decent. Nothing amazing. Very loud inside. Need sound damoeners like curtains.
As always Cooper's Hawk delivers! Every dish I've tried has been excellent! This is the best local restaurant having consistently delivered excellence!
This was my first experience dining in. I was there for a girls night out dinner. I walked in and it was rather busy which was nice to see for a new Cooper's Hawk location. I found the hostess stand and gave them my name. I had made a reservation ahead of time and was so glad that I did because they were so busy for a Friday evening. The hostess said she would seat me closer to my reservation time. I only had to wait about 5 minutes or so as I had arrived a little earlier. I was seated. My friends arrived shortly after and were taken to the table. The server came to us about 3 minutes upon sitting. She was very sweet. She was very patient with us as we were talking more than looking at the menu to figure out what we wanted. After ordering, our food arrived about 20/25 minutes after. My friend and I ordered the steak and veggies. The steak was good (rather small though for the price). The vegetables were undercooked and I did not enjoy them. My friend thought the same. My other friend ordered the rib rack. She felt like the meat was too salty. For the price, I feel like maybe an extra side could be offered like a baked or mashed potatoes. Or perhaps a variety of vegetables to choose from. Maybe that was the case, but I wasn't aware if so.
We ordered a bottle of the Sauvignon Blanc... delicious! We also ordered the chocolate cake for dessert. 10/10 with those two items!
It was really loud where we were sitting (in a booth against the wall). I'm not sure if I would visit again due to the overpriced food. It's a cool concept though so maybe a place to stop for wine and dessert!
Service was good not great....their team needs more training as they seem to playing in the fine dining category. Table wasn’t cleared, sloppy presentation of meals.
Jake at the wine tasting table was great! The manger Mike helped us with our wine selection. It was an overall great evening.
We sat by a window around 5pm and the sun came thru even though the shades were down very irritating. Our waiter was talking to the people behind us I thought he should have checked on us to tell our bread was being made instead of telling us later after our dinner was served. The wine was wonderful and food was delicious l would go again.
Nice lunch. Quiet. Expansive menu. A great addition to the Dayton dinning scene
Staff was amazing. Liz at the tasting bar. Food was great
Very crowded at 6:00. Hostess seemed a bit scattered. Make a reservation!
It was B-Day for my husband and we made reservations and was sat in middle of a room at a table instead of a booth. The lighting under the table need to have a dimmer switch for evening ambience. The server was awesome and the food was average. This was our second visit and it was ok. If you sell a prime rib sandwich on the menu why wouldn’t you serve it as a menu item.?
One word: Terrific!!!! Terrific! Terrific! Well that’s three words because the review box insists on 50 characters or wouldn’t move on! Now that’s annoying!
Allergic to garlic. Kitchen unable to accommodate. Very few items without garlic.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Gluten free options are necessary when we dine out and Cooper’s Hawk has an abundance of choices. The food was excellent as was the service. The only problem was getting a table. We stopped by at an early hour on a Saturday and were unable to get a table. We called on another Saturday and they were booked! I recommend making arrangements to eat there a few days in advance.
Our dinner was excellent, wine was good, service spotty.
Great service. Tyler was superb! Food was great. Everything was perfect
Really nice place with great food. The shrimp & scallop risotto was fantastic. Our server took good care of us. She wasn't that knowledgeable about the wines, but she did bring us several tastes to try to ensure we liked our selection.
It was incredible, the staff was great and very friendly. They were very personable and we appreciate that. Food came out at a good pace, we loved it!
Excellent food and drink. Good service. Horrible atmosphere. Loud and incredibly bright especially considering I was dining at 8pm. Needs some acoustic dampening and a dimmer on the lights.
The entire staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and how to accommodate someone with food allergies.
This is the best upscale restaurant dining experience that has happen in Dayton in a while
Our wait staff was very knowledgeable about all aspects of our dinning experience. We were able to taste several different wines for free to help with our evenings choice. The food was excellent and prepared to our expectations.
Anniversary dinner. Great good. Service was awesome. A great evening
Brussel sprouts were awesome. Scallops were ‘ok’ wouldn’t get them again. Atmosphere was really good. Server was kind and polite however needed more training on service. Table never was as cleaned up as it should have been. Plates left empty beer bottle etc. I’ll go back. Just expected more for what we paid.
Great place... highly recommend... amazing food, wine and dessert!!!!
The food was delicious and so was the wine! It was incredibly loud and difficult to hear one another. My son, who is disabled, had a hard time with the noise level. But it was easy to maneuver his wheelchair around. Our waiter was nice but kept trying to push things on us and lingered a little too long after we declined. I would definitely go back just for the food alone. They ran out of the dessert we wanted, so I would try to go earlier in the evening!
Mike aka “MJ” is so knowledgeable and an amazing Manager! Make sure to see Christina or Jake at the wine tasting! An amazing night out!
Our server, Robin was wonderful. She knew the menu, offered suggestions, was very attentive, and friendly. We will be back.
Sat at high top in bar with reservation @5:30p and floors were dirty and table wasn’t clean. As some what regulars to the Liberty Twp location, we still ate and enjoyed the food and ambiance. Service was on slow side.
First time dining here. Had a great time. Service was great. Only issues was had to send steak back two times for being over cooked.
Overall fabulous! Great wine flight ( Emily Wines- bravo!!). Food great. Server great. Only down was tooooo noisy towards end of visit (around 7:30)
Since CH is know for its wine, I suggest a separate server who only takes wine orders, gives suggestions, brings samples to tables, and finally brings wine to tables and a separate server who strictly takes food orders. Our server was fantastic, however she had many tables and felt it took a long time to receive wine samples before deciding what we wanted. As first time customers celebrating out wedding anniversary we had many questions about both food and wine.
Skirt steak was excellent and cooked a perfect medium rare.
Jambayla was bland.
October red blend is very nice.
Our experience was mixed. The wine was good and fairly priced. Service was fairly attentive but a bit slow. Two of us had grilled meats and those were acceptable. One of us had the jambalaya. It came to the table lukewarm and tasted like it had been poured from a can. Whatever seasoning was used had a strange, off-putting taste. We decided that we would go back, but will probably stick with the starters and small plates. Ambiance was not what I expected. It was more like a family restaurant than I expected it would be. As I said, we will return, but will better know what to expect.
We had heard great things about Cooper’s Hawk from multiple friends from Chicago, so we knew we had to check it out. Our experience did not disappoint!
