Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Annapolis
Checked in at the hostess stand at 6:20 for our 6:30 reservation and were told they were running about 10 minutes behind with reservations. We waited another 30 minutes and noticed people who checked in with later reservations than us were being seated. We asked how much longer and the hostess said she didn’t know what happened to our reservation but we would be seated next. Both hostesses had seen us standing there for a long time, knew we had checked in earlier and never made any attempt to check on why we were standing all that time. We get seated finally order two appetizers and one of our appetizers never makes it out until way later. Our sever was very nice and apologetic. Luckily this meal was bought on a gift card. The food was good, but the hostess experience with a reservation has sealed this deal and I will not be going back. The place is very busy and probably doesn’t need my business anyway. There are lots of excellent restaurants in Annapolis to choose from, and I will give them my business.
While I greatly enjoyed my appetizer and entree, my friend did not. She ordered calamari that was prepared like fish n chips and crab cakes she had to send back. I ordered the pork belly tostadas and the soy ginger salmon and greatly enjoyed both. I ordered the key lime pie for dessert. It was definitely NOT key lime pie but a nice light dessert. As for the service, it was horrible! Our waitress had absolutely NO personality! She offered no suggestions and when we asked questions, she looked at us as if we were idiots. She disappeared for 30 mins at a time, leaving me with no water and my friend waiting for a to go container. I would definitely not want to be served by her again. With all this being said, I would go back and give the restaurant a 2nd chance if for no other reason than my delicious food.
Our server was great and one of the Managers Brian is all some
Service started slow but quickly improved. Wonderful meal, wine and service means I will be back.
It was an awesome place for our 22nd Anniversary. Loved it!
This restaurant has dynamite food. We have eaten here many times. Portions are extremely generous. We can’t say enough good things about the food at this restaurant. The only complaint we have ever had is on two separate occasions the server didn’t come back to our table in a timely manner and see if we needed anything. We have had to either wait longer than we should’ve for our drinks to arrive or been sitting there for to long waiting to get more drinks. But for all I know they may have been short handed and the servers were covering more tables than there norm. Since they’re always busy this could certainly have been the case. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Loved it !
My experience was nice. My date was satisfied and enjoyed your establishment as well. It was her first time and definitely will not be her last..
Best Calamari I've had in a long time and the Grouper was great. Our server was awesome!!
Natalie was amazing. She answered all our question and gave great recommendations for us. Love the complimentary wine in the lobby as we waited 10 minutes for our table. Great service and clean
I’m general I love Coopers Hawk. However, it’s unfortunate that the restroom on such a lovely day (Valentines day) was unclean and messy!
Additionally, we were served our food and had to ask 3 people for utensils before we finally got them from our waitress. Good thing our food hasn’t gotten cold.
Valentine’s Day good menu choices
It was great as always. My steak was actually over cooked and they fixed it very quickly for me.
Probably the best meal we have had out in a few years.
We have already recommended Cooper's Hawk to our friends and definitely plan to go there again.
The food was absolutely delicious. We had items from your happy hour menu and it was plenty to share. We didn’t think the waitress was very personable, however, she was a very business-like server and did it well.
Valentine’s Day dinner with my love and it was perfect!! Little loud but always a great place. We always come there. We are wine club members!
Excellent restaurant. I know I will return because there are so many selections o try.......
Was there with four friends and family members who had never been there before. All four found it to be an excellent experience.
We went on the weekend before Valentines Day and a lot of the menu wasn’t available. That pretty much ruined my experience.
Everything was great. The atmosphere was wonderful the food was amazing and the wine spectacular.
The food and service are always superb! Our waitress, Mariah, was great too. Happy and friendly! This place makes us feel a little more at home! The staff always come by and say hey and it’s just a nice place to go and feel welcome, not like they’re ever too busy to stop and chat. I know they probably are because it’s always crazy busy here!
The restaurant is always lively and the staff very accommodating. I had reservations and was seated within minutes of arrival. The server we had was okay having to be reminded of requests a couple of times before we got what we asked for. The drinks and wine were both very good. The salad was very generous but the crab lobster bisque lacked any evidence of lobster or crab meat. It was instead loaded with small diced vegetables and while flavorful was disappointing. The dinners were very good, the skirt steak was perfectly done and very tender. The roasted vegetables were good but slightly undercooked. Overall Cooper's Hawk provides a consistently good meal at a reasonable price with a lively atmosphere.
This was not the most pleasant experience. With a reservation we were seated at the second worse table, a small table next to a pillar near the kitchen in the flow of traffic. We were celebrating our 21st anniversary and heard so much about Cooper's Hawk that we had great expectations. My husband ordered a NY Strip with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. When he received his plate there was a small flat cut of fatty overcooked meat on a plate with fries and overcharred vegetables. We sent it back. When his second plate arrived we realized the first plate was actually a skirt steak and likely meant for another table. The other issue we had was the server for another table leaning against the pillar and his rear end brushing against our table every time he came to talk to his customers, while we were eating. When I said excuse me sir, he immediately moved off the pillar as if he knew it was not appropriate. I didn't have to say more. Our server was a really sweet young lady who made the experience tolerable. Overall, the portions are small in comparison with other restaurants in that price range. I'm not a drinker but the sangria was delicious. If you go, go for the wine and possibly appetizers. The wine selection is good.
We started our afternoon in the tasting room which was great. We then headed up and waited just a few minutes to get seated. Brad was our waiter. He was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. We really loved our time at Cooper's Hawk and would recommend it to friends.
Poor service, decent but not memorable food. Stark decor but nice wine bar.
Overall things were ok; our server wasn’t attentive and often tried to ‘rush’ us through our meal. We were asked “Are you done yet” more than “Is there anything else you need?” When you are waiting for your water to be refilled that’s not good.
The food was outstanding and the service was great and very friendly. The only drawback is the noise level can be a little high but everything else makes up for that.
We went at a very busy time but the food was well worth it. The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.
We had reservations at 5:30 and were not seated until nearly 6. They were very busy the weekend before Valentine's Day. The menu is quite extensive, something for everyone and a wine to be paired with it. The waiter was attentive but no overly so. They offer a complimentary glass of wine and pretzel roll which was perfect. We had the egg roll appetizer, house salad, an entree, dessert, and wine too go with each course. All delicious.
This is a hit or miss Restaurant with their food. The first time we went the food was bad, the second time in December the food was good, and this time my meal was not good. I had the salmon with asparagus and roasted veggies. The salmon was dry and the asparagus was mushy.
Table not ready for 20 min., despite reservation. Food was an hour late and mediocre at best. Very loud and fairly expensive. I won’t make this mistake again!
Good restaurant vibe. Well decorated. Friendly staff.
Two downsides to the experience. First, I ordered a steak medium well which the waiter said would be pink in the middle. It was cooked well done. The real issue I had was the waiter never asked if it was cooked to my liking. Second, table cleanup was incredible slow.
Overall I'm a fan of CH so I will probably go back
Always love coming to Coopers Hawk for wine tasting and for dinner. We are club members and have always had an outstanding experience. Can't wait to come back!
Terrible service. Bland food. Went with my daughter for a late afternoon lunch/dinner. It was packed but we were quickly seated as we had a 3:30 reservation. Server showed up quickly and brought water - the only water we are able to get throughout our entire meal. Pretzel bread was over-baked and nearly impossible to cut. Not worth eating. Ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon- the only redeeming part of the meal. Our server really talked up the "amazing Brussels sprouts appetizer" so we ordered them. Upon pouring our wine, out server took our order - my daughter had the Parmesan/crusted chicken. It was like eating cardboard - zero flavor, minimal lemon butter and Betty's potatoes were a disappointment. They're supposed to be shredded potatoes with white cheddar and scallions. No scallions were present nor was ANY flavor. We had to salt and pepper everything. I ordered the Bleu Cheese burger and the only tasty thing on it was the blue cheese crumbles. Really disappointing - it was the recommended dish to go with the Cabernet. Those "amazing Brussels sprouts" never showed up and neither did our server. We needed to get our own napkins and utensils from another table and pour water from water bottles we thankfully had in our purses. The server never came to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. She was M.I.A. the entire time. Most of the servers looked grumpy and didn't seem to like each other - definitely not helpful to each other. Overall , a disappointing experience and I doubt I will ever return especially given all the other exceptional options for good food in Annapolis. Live and learn. They should have been grateful for the being so busy - probably pre-Valentine's Day outings for some folks...and an excellent opportunity to earn tips. I'm a generous tipper- and I know people can have an "off" day, but this server seemed to simply have zero interest in doing anything for us. Her tip reflected her effort.
Great service, she was the best. Excellent food and wine. Great atmosphere. Appetizers were amazing.
1st time visit. Drinks were great. Food not so much.
The food was delicious, and our waitress was amazing. Will definitely come back at least once a month!
Everything we we told. Food was very good. Nice atmosphere and good wine.
