Coombe The Melba Estate
Located within the restored motor house and historic clock tower and under the helm of Chef Neil Cunningham, our restaurant serves Contemporary Modern Australian a la carte menu options.
An inspiring selection of seasonal and predominantly estate grown produce will be on offer for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea 6 days a week.
The restaurant is modern, spacious yet intimate and overlooks the landscaped market-style courtyard of the beautifully restored facilities. The view from the conservatory is of the Coombe cottage garden ‘avenue’ and gives glimpses of the oldest swimming pool in Victoria.
On arrival we felt very welcome, food was amazing, wine was very nice, View was beautiful and the room was bright and lovely .The waitress was just lovely and attentive to us. Can not wait to return for another amazing experience
What a great experience, the food, service wine ambiance and great value for money. I will definitely be going back and next time do the tour of the gardens and house. From what I saw I was very impressed.
The food was really lovely. We both enjoyed our entrees of Asparagus and Duck Breast and the Mains of Pork and Baramundi. It's a nice relaxed food in a winery seating. More of a casual dining experience, which is great for families. The views from the dining room are gorgeous.
However, don't come here for the service. We had a few issues. Wrong food being sent, tables being cleared when still eating, not being informed of a discount in the wine shop after eating at the restaraunt.
Gift voucher was used
Service from entering the venue was very attentive
Staff and waitresses very efficient , friendly and knowledgeable
Food very acceptable and enjoyed all we had
I was there last Friday for lunch with some visitors from Canberra. It was an amazing experience . Customer service was at the best. Food was delicious and a reasonable choice. Ambiance was breathtaking. Lovely sceneries. Would highly recommend.
The quality of my meal (fillet of beef) was superb.
as a friend of coombe I invited 4 guests for lunch. it was very well received by all.
Poor view. Just a normal resultant without any view to vineyard. The food is so-so. Doesn’t worth the money you spend.
Family’s favourite spot for a special occasion, never fails. Food is divine, staff are always friendly and accommodating and the grounds are beautiful to walk through.
Location, architecture, restaurant fit-out and setting superb; surrounds beautiful. Food quality and presentation first-class although daily fixed menu was fish for both courses and built around same sauce. The staff seemed to be straight out of training school - inattentive, fawning, unusually quick to remove everything not currently being used, including bread and butter plates
The service was great with friendly staff.Good menu and well presented meals.
We had the loveliest meal. Two or three courses of local produce prepared thoughtfully.
Combe Yarra Valley is a great choice for family groups and celebrating special occasions. The food is consistently good any time of year and the setting delightful.
I’m a regular here and come usually once a month. The Pork Scotch which is the most tender piece
Of Pork you could ever taste with amazing potatoes and salad on the side. For the first time we encountered average service however I’ve based my rating on the many times I’ve been there and always the service was impeccable. Thank you to Nami who took over from the first couple of waitresses we had a rectified what was turning out to be a disastrous service.
We were attending 'high tea' on the occasion of 'joint' birthday celebrations.it was lovely to attend a venue so local to home.thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Great Venue, great food. History of the place makes it extra special
The ambience, staff attention and food - all Great !
Celebrated a friends birthday - fitting venue, lovely Sunday lunch/afternoon - loved the pork dish with the black pudding
Lunch at historic Coombe is memorable for so many reasons. Wonderful food, excellent service, relaxing ambience and a lovely peaceful spot on the edge of the beautiful Yarra Valley. A lunch with friends and/or family ay Coombe is an event to savour.
Convenient excellent service $49 lunch (barramundi)not as good as last time(pork fillet which was10).
We had a wonderful experience with a high tea for a birthday celebration. The staff were welcoming and attentive, all the food delicious and the atmosphere had a good vibe.
The staff were attentive and friendly. They were very professional in serving food and wine. The Lamb shoulder serving for two was far to big for this day and age, almost all the tables where the shoulder was served plastic containers were supplied for patrons to take the leftover meat home with them. The Entree and sweets, as well as the lamb shoulder were delicious and beautifully presented.
Excellent service in a modern environment with beautiful surroundings.
The very best Devonshire Tea in Melbourne. There are scones and then there are Coombe scones! Delicious. This a beautiful restaurant with very attentive service. Highly recommended
Love the food and atmosphere
Whilst we enjoyed our high tea tower. We had almost finished eating when I assumed we were not going to receive any hot drinks so had to ask. We then had our order taken after a few minutes but then waited a good 10 minutes for the tea orders and 15 or more for the coffee. We alsohaf no idea what was on the tower. Usually it would be described on delivery. Wait staff not really very friendly either. We have certainly had many better high tea experiences and ones with better value.
We had a lovely high tea for my birthday. Attentive staff, unlimited (quality) sparkling wine and beautiful food. Highly recommended.
Always a treat to head to Coombe as we are residents of the Yarra Valley. Food and service are always exemplary so we return at least once a year because of the consistency. Even on a wet miserable winter's day the ambience is warm and friendly and the garden and hedge views outside the windows are amazing. Highly recommended for families with celebrations.
A spectacular spot for lunch and a wonderful meal. This was the treat we both needed and we will bring our families next time.
Lovely afternoon tea and catchup with girlfriends.
I should have booked a house tour before but was able to visit a winery and dairy en route so it topped off an enjoyable day in the Yarra Valley.
We went to celebrate my mother’s 73rd birthday. Just right for all.
The food is well presented on the plate, tasty and has you wanting a little more. Perhaps there could be an option to have, main and dessert as well as entree and main in the set price menu option. The venue in the historical estate makes it a lovely place to have lunch, will visit again when the gardens are open.
It was the first time my partner and I had been here, it had been recommended to us. We did a wine tasting first which was lovely, and then went in to lunch.
It's a beautiful building and the staff were very friendly and super efficient. The food was delicious and served so fast. Both the staff on the cellar door and the staff in the restaurant were open, warm and friendly. The whole experience was fantastic.
Frnt desk staff are super friendly and helpful. The lamb shoulder for 2 is a must. Tender and tasty and more than enough for two.
Fantastic food and very friendly and helpful staff
The lamb dish is amazing but you only need 1 serve for three people
Food and Service whilst at the Cellar door and inside the restaurant was great. However the hostess with the bun and green scrunchie was very condescending to my friends and i on arrival. There was no need for her attitude, especially when were being friendly and happy, as it was our friends birthday. She was nice when we were paying, but the whole arrival and "welcome" was very off-putting.
As always, we had a magical experience at Coombe. Superb food and wines, superlative staff and beautiful ambience in the restaurant with views of the Melba estate. What more could you ask for?
The grounds and original buildings are amzing. It was so fantastic after all these years growing up in the outer east and driving past this location, to finally see behind the secret hedge. The food and wine were some of the best we have ever had. The cellar door staff went above and beyond and made you feel nothing was too much to ask. I can not wait to come back soon for a full tour and maybe high tea
A lovely place to have lunch. Great ambiance, beautiful outlook and great food and service.
It was our anniversary and We went with our two boys, the restaurant is extremely kid friendly. They got two activity packs which kept them occupied and we were able enjoy
The restaurant ambience is very nice with large windows right round
Food was fantastic would recommend to anyone who want to get away and have a nice meal with good wine
