Food was excellent. Nice ambience. Surprised how many empty tables and completely empty bar on a Sat night. Cons: food was slow. And I swear there was a sign at parking garage entrance saying “we validate parking.” Upon leaving, wait staff said no, and man with sign was strangely gone. Hmmm.
Highly recommend Coohills especially during Denver Restaurant week! The half price bottle of wine made the evening even better. The staff take great pride in working at Coohills and it shows. They are very professional and personable group that provides attention to detail to their customers. Looking forward to dining at Coohills again.
We decided to celebrated our anniversary at Coohills. We were pleased with the limited menu that was offered for Denver Restaurant Week as we were able to try multiple items from the standard menu. Jamiee, our server, took the time to offer menu suggestions and recommended specialty cocktails that were smoked table side by Maria. We were very pleased with the experience that was provided by Jamiee, the sommelier, Jeremy, and the bartender, Skykar. We look forward to dining again soon.
All was good
First time there, very impressed with the patio and restaurant look and feel. Great service, well-paced and we felt taken care of. The food was excellent and will bring us back!
I desperately want to like this place. I have met the owners multiple times and they couldn’t be nicer. But the last three or four times I have been here, the service has been extremely slow. I keep hearing the wait staff say “the kitchen is a little backed up right now “but it seems to be a chronic problem. I go here before nuggets games and I have missed the beginning of every game as a result. We ordered at 7:30PM, it took 15 minutes for our salads to arrive and one full hour for entrées. I have had it even worse on other occasions. If it doesn’t get better, I will have to stop coming. Just wanted to give you feedback that you have a problem delivering food in a timely manner. Plus I have to say that the food quality has really declined. Our chicken was tasteless, the tartine was terrible, the snails were bad and the salad was limp and boring. I think you were having trouble finding good people for your kitchen and it shows.
Well Done Coohills...
Great Restaurant Menu !!
Food and Service were above expectations
Fantastic food, wonderful service, very friendly atmosphere. A fabulous treat.
We went for Restaurant Week and had a nice dinner with wine. Dinner was creative and tasty. The wine was very good and was a good deal. We would go back.
My favorite thing about Coohils would be the bar and luxurious cocktails. The food is trying a little too hard... keep it simple and don't worry about being extra.
We had such a wonderful time! The bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly and make amazing drinks... Skyler and Brian, you rock! Our server, Eric was superb and made the experience relaxing and enjoyable. I love this place!
I may have set the expectation higher than I should have. We went for restaurant week. We arrived 20 minutes ahead of our reservation and they were able to seat us immediately which was very accommodating. The 1st course arrived very speedy but I found a hair in my soup. I asked for a new one and they provided that in approximately 5 minutes. The wine I had ordered with my menu selections arrived after my 1st course. The 2nd round of snails (for my husband) and chicken were speedy and delicious. However, our 3rd round took over 30 minutes from when we finished our 2nd course. I've never experienced this at restaurant week or any other prefixed menu meal. I wish I could say they were busy but most of the bar seating - almost half the restaurant was empty (this was now 7:15pm, more than an hour after we were sat). Once the bill arrived there was no mention of the hair and no compensation. I don't like to make a scene, so I paid the bill. Unfortunately we had to get the 3rd course to go because it had been so long (30+ minutes since finishing previous course) we weren't hungry anymore. I'll probably go back for a redemption but will sit and the bar and only get wine and those snails.
Great place for romantic meal - only come when you have plenty of time to enjoy the experience.😊 Well worth every penny - will be back.
I had made reservations for two. My friend got to Coohills before I did. He was setting at the bar and I joined him instead of at a table. The food and drink at the bar was awesome and the staff was attentive and very welcoming. We had on the glass tickets to the Avalanche game and to the Lexus dining room at the Pepsi Center. We both felt very lucky we ate at Coohills not in the Lexus dining room. We will be back.
Service were great!
But the food.. hm. We ordered a steak au poivre, there was nothing au poivre about it! Came with a reduction sauce and the meat was not the best quality, quite chewy and hard. I will say the charcuterie board and desserts were pretty good.
Wouldn’t come again. But loved our waitress!
We picked Coohill specifically because they advertised they were serving their regular menu and not just a fixed menu. Upon being seated we were told the chef, supposedly just that morning, decided to do a strict fixed menu at $80+ per person. I was told I could go somewhere else but where are you going to go on Valentines Day at 8:45pm? No one ever apologized, though they readily admitted they did indeed advertise a full menu. I had invited guests to dinner and was put in a difficult position with regards to now being forced to spend more per person than we had expected. It would have been appreciated if some small consideration, say a complimentary glass of champagne or any kind of courtesy was made to acknowledge the situation there last minute change caused us. They did however acknowledge that more than a few of their dinners had expressed the same displeasure with the circumstances. The most disappointing aspect of the entire evening was the fact the staff immediately acknowledgment that they did make a last second decision to go to a fixed menu, offered no apologies for the position that put us in, they acknowledged that other dinners that evening were also put off by this decision and yet no manager or chef ever stopped by or offered even the smallest of courtesies to reflect they understood why so many were disappointed. It is no use to speak to the quality of the food or table service when you feel like you have been mistreated and lied to by management and the chef before you even sat down at your table.
We had a really disappointing Valentines Day experience. We've been here before, but not in a couple of years, and we were really looking forward to returning. When we reserved, we were not told that they were offering only a prix fixe menu. Even after arriving we weren't told there was a three course option to the six course menu until after we expressed disappointment. It felt like a bait and switch. Despite the limited number of dishes they needed to prepare, service was horribly slow and most courses arrived cold. The meat course (supposedly a New York strip) was not only cold, but tough and tasteless. We had one cocktail (an astonishing $21 for a Manhattan!) and three glasses of wine, and even with one of us having the shorter version of the meal, with tip it came to $225. I felt totally ripped off and won't return to a place we once cherished.
Valentine’s Day and we had our wedding at the restaurant. 7 months and going strong! :)
Great choice for an early dinner before the symphony on St. Valentine's. Our wait staff was very sensitive to our time needs and made the right call on menu items.
It was a concert night at Pepsi Center (8 pm concert) - we had 7:15 reservations & made it clear to waitstaff that we were not going to concert - so we ordered drinks & appetizers & waited to order entrees until 7:45, when most of the restaurant cleared out - thought this would be easier on the kitchen. Although there remained only a handful of tables at 7:45, we did not get our entrees until 9 pm! No apologies or explanations were offered. Food was delicious but should have been at our table MUCH sooner.
The steaks were good , Salmon was cold and undercooked. Both plates lacked garnishments. The service was poor.
We have been there several times before and enjoyed everything, but its gone down hill.
Coohill’s never disappoints. Ever. There’s a reason this restaurant has stood the test of time as Tom is continually refining and developing the menu and beverage program. It’s my go-to restaurant whether I’m entertaining for business or out for an intimate dinner with a loved one or friend.
It was a good experience.
Food was awful and pricey, especially for awful food
We happened to catch them on a night when they were understaffed. The food was great however the service was definitely lacking. Luckily the manager stepped in and helped out our server.
Service was not good but it was very busy and there were several private events going on. Our server kept forgetting to bring things and he was flustered the entire time.
Best dinner I’ve had in Denver! Such amazing staff and ambience at Coohill’s!
Great waiter and very good meal and wine. Wish he would put one in Highlands Ranch
This was a family dinner with 2 birthdays; my husband said it was the most expensive restaurant bill he's ever paid for. I as one of the birthday girls, made the reservation myself and was disappointed. My vegetarian dish looked like they had left half of the meal out and did not match the waiter's description.
Everyone else was very happy with their food.
Service was extremely slow. We had a table for 8 and a reservation on NYE and the service was painfully slow. We saw people come in after us and leave before us. One of my friends meal had a pastry that was under-cooked. He asked for a new plate but never received on. Ended up having to ask again for his plate. Food was good but the service was lacking.
The restaurant was out of three entrées and numerous bar drinks that were all part of the regular menu. The duck confit was extremely dry. The service was good but the food did not match. We are not rushing back.
Starters were great, but main course very disappointing because the Coq au vin was everything but a Coq au vin( I am French and this was not French cuisine): bland flavor and chicken on lots of mashed potatoes.
There was a private party behind a curtain and it was very noisy. The waitress was nice, the wine was good. Pricy for what we got.
Bad food. It seemed bad for all four of us at the time, one of them actually got sick overnight. White flaky fish should never taste that fishy.
Coohills is my favorite restaurant in Denver. Trendy flavor-of-the-week restaurants come and go but Tom and Diane Coohill have stayed the course through thick and thin, delivering some of the best food in Denver since they opened. The restaurant says “excellence” in every aspect, from the service to the cocktail offerings to the wine list and of course, the food! If you haven’t made it to Coohill’s yet, do it soon and you’ll understand!
A French eatery in name only. French origin of "Coohills"??? Coq Au Vin in a spicy, near bar-b-sauce??? I ordered a salmon appetizer/side dish. Came on platter size plate with three separate dollop size suggestions of salmon. Server translated this was the artistic creation of the chef. Then go to art school. While for ought to be well presented, we came for French Cuisine not to visit an art gallery. (See photo). Not worth time or money. False advertising at best!
We have enjoyed our visit to Coohills on many occasions prior to events at the Pepsi center however this experience was subpar. The wait staff was slow acknowledge us initially and when we received our meat and cheese selections we had to ask him to explain what was in front of us and unfortunately he really had no idea. We had to ask for someone to take our drink orders as well as to bring us bread and crackers. Fortunately we were so looking forward to seeing Michelle Obama that the disappointing experience was unable to taint our unbridled enthusiasm for the evening.
Outstanding service and mouth watering dishes. Will definitely be returning to experience more.
Flawless from start to finish. Cocktails were amazing, food was impeccable, service was friendly and prompt. Will definitely be coming back for special occasions.
