Food was good. Service was horrible!
This was my first time here since the pandemic changed so much. Overall it was fine, just a few hiccups in terms of the waitperson taking our orders and then remembering to check on refills, whether we needed anything else, that sort of stuff.
Fantastic experience - the ambiance was great and the service and food was even better. Original, inventive dishes. Unique combinations we’ve never tried before - everything exceeded expectations. Highly recommend!
Ask for max - he’s a great server and also makes an amazing cappuccino!
Dinner with a friend before a concert.
The service was terrible. We didn’t get seated for over an hour AFTER our reservation. We also arrived early. I could tell they were short staffed. Training was in progress as well. We ALL know it’s because of “covid” but what a disappointment. Hopefully one day we will go back to people wanting to work and fully staffed. Just sad to see such a great place suffer so much from a clearly avoidable issue.
Food quality and plating was EXCELLENT. Prompt and attentive service. Thank you
Excellent and imaginative food combined with first rate service made our dinner a delight.
It is right across from the beach. Staff was friendly.
Everyone was so attentive & accommodating! Food was delicious!
The menu was VERY limited. There were very few basic menu items. However salad was very good.
Excellent and unique food. The servers and ambiance were outstanding. It’s a very relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It’s well worth a visit and we will be back.
I have introduced so many friends and family here for lunch and dinner. The food is outstanding! We usually eat outside on the patio. The wait staff are all so nice and attentive. I never feel rushed there. Its just wonderful.
Food was great, but prices has taken a turn upward for sure.
Food was very good.Service was fast and frindly.
My only suggestion would be to change the background music. It was noisy. Maybe some Jazz?
But overall our experience was very good
We had a wonderful time, however the restaurant was experiencing a bit of a crowd and this put the kitchen behind. Other than that, everything was wonderful.
Outstanding in large part to our waiter - Antonio! He was knowledgeable and informative resulting in an excellent experience. Definitely plan to return.
The food has changed is not as good as it used to be… The service was horrible
We were stuck in traffic, 25 minutes late. We called and they were so understanding. Yeh food was great the the staff were very friendly. Nice view of the water too.
Everything was just perfect about this restaurant. Food, service, ambiance, complementary valet parking… etc. thank you convivial. We will be back for sure.
Great food and great service. Wonderful spot for our 10 year wedding anniversary.
the tapas are great, as are the mains. lovely setting, looking at the palms & ocean.
Lovely dining experience. The food and service were wonderful. The cocktails are delicious at this restaurant.
Bland steak not cooked properly, way too rare. They sent it back and cooked the already sliced steak which made it more like well. They didn’t really care but offered us two $10 desserts for the $48 mistake. The ribs are terribly dry and bland. The pasta and focaccia was good. The wine selections were also decent. The ambiance was nice but there was just no getting over how complacent the staff was about the steak being completely wrong and the lame attempt to correct it.
Labor Day family gathering
Great place to eat in Santa Barbera. Service was outstanding the was very good
My brick oven Pizza was a little less than expected but that is a west coast
thing. I am an East Coast pizza snob.
Go there when in Santa Barbara you will not be dissapointed
Pretty noisy in light of the limited occupancy when I was there.
Tremendous food and great view. Unfortunately our waiter was making it clear he didn't want to be there, and he had trouble keeping his nose covered by his mask. Definitely worth a visit, hopefully you get one of the other friendly waitstaff.
It is a beautiful restaurant with outdoor or indoor dining. You have a view of the road and the ocean behind it. Our service was great but the food was only mediocre. I had the ribs which were not seasoned well and not tender. My husband had a pizza and it was okay. We were with another couple and their food was okay. They don't have very many gluten free options (no GF pizza crust and no GF pasta and no risotto). I was a little disappointed.
The food and service at Convivo is always excellent and the setting is lovely. One of our very favorite spots in Santa Barbara!
Food was only ok, not great. Sitting outside was very nice, but the service was the worst we've experienced in decades. I am not a complainer. If you were able to read my other reviews, you'd find I'm effusive in my praise for the places we've dined. What made this a bad experience was not the average food, but the horrible service. As an aside, my wife and I both woke up in the middle of the night with intense shooting pains in our abdomens that lasted for a couple of hours. I'm not putting that on the restaurant, but it is a heck of a coincidence. If you are in Santa Barbara, dine at Toma.
Ambiance very nice on outdoor patio for “safer” dining.
Service nice, but food not fabulous. Too much “pickled” vegetables as side dish. Food decent but not a place for a “foodie” dining experience.
Very nice place, the food looks amazing, it just needs a little more flavor to that. I order a sea bass and it had no flavor, everything else was good. Their outdoor dining is absolutely fabulous
We enjoyed the pizza & pasta. Pasta was very delicious and fresh. The view overlooking the ocean is lovely, especially to sit outside. Our server was professional and service was very fast. Would recommend.
Nice outside venue with beach view and excellent service
Horrible wait staff. Our waiter barely even looked over to check on us.
I'll begin with what they got right. Our server David was excellent. The ambiance however, was frenetic and noisy due to an in improbable and too loud playlist, as well as a large gathering adjacent, it definitely did not have a romantic vibe. The food was so-so, the seabass looked beautiful, but was overcooked and dry and tough. The pickled vegetables were cloyingly oversweet. There was just nothing special about either the meal or the ambiance. Maybe we'll try it again in a couple of years.
Wonderful inventive menu with delicious food. Currently -- due to Pandemic contingencies -- Convivo is a little understaffed but if you can live with that you'll have a great meal.
As always the menu is innovative, delicious and presented with style! Can’t beat the ambiance outside in a lovely Mediterranean garden directly across from Pacific. My special love is the carrots and baba ghanush , lamb meatballs and ink spaghetti.
Love this place!!
