Server was great!
Food and service was great. I had the mad Hatcher chicken and half dozen oysters both were excellent. I had a taste of the gnocchi from my friends plate and it was to die for.
Excellent foodie quality place in hotel with open kitchen and open floor plan
Great food and presentation. Everything tasted fresh.
First : arrived at 920 for our 930 Reservation that was held under $90 if we weren’t able to keep it.
The salad was so bitter and was lacking the shaved fruits to balance the harsh flavor with something sweet.
The risotto and crab cakes were decent.
The filet was okay.
The chocolate cake was nothing special.
Overall very disappointed in the service/value for a $350 dinner. Wouldn’t return, couldn’t recommend.
A romantic fireside table for Valentine’s Day.
Excellent four course dinner paired with champagne.
Service was outstanding and the food and drinks and delicious.
My boyfriend and I ate dinner for the first time at Conversation on Valentine's Day. I made reservations via Open Table and looked at the menu on that site. I didn't see if Open Table stated there was a special Valentine's Day pre-set meal (if they did it wasn't obvious). I thought the regular menu looked amazing but when getting there we saw that it was pre-set. The set price was $90/person which didn't bode well with me since I thought we would eat from their regular meal. While the food was great, I wasn't expecting to pay $90/person for dinner that night so to me it didn't seem like it was worth $90. That being said, everything I ate was prepared well and tasty. Also, I asked our waiter what entree he liked best and he said they were all good. I like to hear their opinions and descriptions of the food. Maybe they don't allow the waiters to try anything and he didn't want to tell us that.
Very disappointing. Incredibly expensive for very average food on the Valentines Fixed menu and one bottle of wine. The service seemed to get worse with each course. Won’t be returning.
Worst dining experience of my life as far as service goes. Didn’t even get to try the food after 1.5 hours of waiting on an appetizer and being treated by rude staff, we decided to just eat elsewhere because we were so hungry.
Definitely never coming back here. Staff really need some customer service training. Nobody ever came to check on us to see who we were doing or even apologize for the delay. We had to hunt down workers to find out when our appetizer will be ready after waiting for 1.5 hours. And would get a rude snarky response from the manager “well we’re working on it”. McDonald’s has better customer service and this is supposed to be a very nice restaurant.
Everything from the food and drinks to the service was wonderful. Will be going back.
The setting was great, the wait staff also perfect. I had read some negative reviews so was a little nervous. I really enjoyed the food and the whole experience.
Excellent service. Food was delicious and portions were a good size for an upscale restaurant.
Over charged us
This was some of the slowest service we have experienced in Seattle. Food was ok, but the time for order/drinks/dinner etc was awful. Do not recommend.
To start… delicious. My entree featuring black cod was the best prepared fish I've ever tasted. The attention to detail in the presentation of each course left us feeling how much pride the chefs feel about their craft. Service met the chef's performance and was also exceptional.
The restaraunt at the bottom of the Thompson hotel had a sexy modern, after-hours vibe. The service was great (note the 20% gratuity already added to the bill). The food was delicious, with small sharable portions. The wine menu was the biggest dissapointment - only PNW options (Washington to Northern California) and the prices were grossly inflated. $40 for a 5oz poor of a local wine from 2017?? I prefer paying those prices for an earlier vintage from France or Italy. My party of 4 considered sharing a bottle but with everything totalling $85+ just didn't feel worth it.
The experience was exquisite and exceeded our expectations. Our server was amazing, kind, and helpful. Every course got better and better hats off to chef and a great restaurant team. One of my new favorite spots!
Excellent food and ambiance in the center of Seattle. I have short ribs - possibly the best and the most tender I have in a long time. It came with roasted mushrooms and broccoli - incredible combination. My waiter was very attentive and served with a smile and professionalism. Would highly recommend the restaurant.
A really great meal in a hotel restaurant! It is possible!
The starters were great. However, the main course (mine a s my wife's) was really salty, almost to the point of us not being able to eat. The only reason we did not send back was because it took SO long between the starter and main course to get to our table. We were late to the Symphony because they took so long to prepare the food...
Our water glasses kept running empty too, and we kept having to ask for more water. Why not just leave the water bottle in our table already?
In all due respect, we ordered a very simple breakfast, so culinary swag was not expected. However, everything was delicious and precisely as ordered. This is a real gem of a find for tourists staying in the area as well as those who are in the Pike Place area in-between appointments/visiting with friends or associates because you can have a good conversation in this place. The atmosphere is open, but not at all noisy, and cozy without too much intimacy. I really liked this place and will find a reason to come back.
Conversation was wonderful! We were there for Saturday brunch and the offerings were amazing! The slab bacon, Eggs Benedict, the roasted potatoes were exceptional, but the star of the meal was their, truly, house made Bloody Mary. The list of ingredients is noteworthy and the taste is phenomenal! Or server, Mika, was attentive, knowledgeable, personable and efficient. Mika was also a most adept mixologist! An absolutely wonderful experience!!!
New Year’s Eve!
We were there for the NYE set course dinner.
The oyster starter wasn't fresh. First-course scallops were too salty. The Cod main was meh.
They had a DJ for the night and the music level was too loud that we had to scream at each other to have a conversation at a restaurant called "Conversation."
The staff was super attentive and kind. There were some good dishes (we had a large group so the table ordered every option). Overall, it was meh. I didn't feel the dishes + experience of screaming at each other was worth the $70 per person cost (plus 20% gratuity auto added). But again, it was NYE so I'm sure there's a premium because of the night.
After reading all the reviews, our expectations for Conversation were high, but we were not disappointed. In fact, dinner exceeded our expectations because it was delicious, innovative, and satisfying.
It was Christmas so perhaps they were understaffed? I went w/my elderly mom for brunch and we were abt 10-15 mins early for our Open Table reservation. They had us wait though it was quite obvious several 2 top tables were open after watching them sit a walk in 2 top I just pointed to a table and asked if we cld be seated there. The hostess and the server were VERY nice and amiable just a bit out of it or maybe overwhelmed/discombobulated for some reason ( again perhaps understaffed or staffed with the less seasoned staff..?).
Granted, this was Christmas Eve so I don't want to be too Scroogey....but the sequencing and the pacing were so off as to be super irritating. 20 minutes would pass between drink order and delivery. FOUR TIMES the waiter brought someone else's food to our table (there aren't that many tables....not sure how it was confusing every time). We had to keep saying, "No....not ours" while waiting FOREVER for our own dinner. The saving grace was that the food was delicious and saved the whole thing. Based on the clunky waitstaff and timing, we were sure the food was going to reflect the same but were pleasantly surprised. Work out the kinks and I'd recommend it, otherwise super frustrating.
Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for your honest review, I am so sorry your experience was not up to par, I have just sent you a direct message as well, I look forward to connecting further on ways we can improve! Thank you so much John
Nice location and very personable waiters and waitresses. The food was good but kind of pricey!
We had a good time the food was fantastic! service was good as well.
Thank you so much for your Review, I am so glad you enjoyed your time with us! Thank you, John
The chef is amazing! I worked with her briefly at another location. She is super talented! Every morsel was perfectly prepared, complex, and delicious. The service was great as well.
SeattleGent, Thank you so much for joining us! I am glad you had a great time and enjoyed the chefs food! Cheers, Conversation Team
We made reservations for dinner and a wine tasting. I measure a restaurant by its duck. Foie gras jus was fine, but duck was ... grainy. My husband's short rib reminded me of my grandmother's pot roast -- good, but not what was described on the menu. Our starter -- the charcuterie -- was another "fine."
The dessert? We would come back for. Great location near the Market. Get a pot of tea, the peanut crunch, the panna cotta or some other sweet thing, sit back and watch the rain.
Really yummy food.
I’m vegan and the online menu said options were available. The breakfast menu actually has no vegan options but they made me a veggie & potato hash that was incredible (actually want it now as I type).
I love a restaurant that has chef’s that can prepare a dish to meet specific needs right on the spot and without hesitation.
I’ll be returning for sure.
The food is very tasty and our server was absolutely delightful, but the portions are very small from what you'd expect from the prices.
Lovely new find in Seattle. Excellent wine. Four small plates and 1 glass of wine each made for an excellent dinner for two of us. The menu is a little limited, but we loved what we had (gem lettuce salads, gnocchi, and the hummus). Watch the wine prices....a little bit steep. Food seemed priced about right for what we got but the wine felt a little high. Lovely plating, fun details in menu presentation etc.
Beyond Expectations. Went here for Thanksgiving, which started with glasses of champagne at Nest. Dinner was a perfect combination of traditional feast and fine dining experience. Turkey, salmon, multiple sides, and champagne at Nest included. Wine pairings for an extra $45 per person. Would definitely do Thanksgiving here next year.
Good ambiance. Great food. Excellent service.
Service was good. Food was pretty good but expected better for the price. The squash hummus appetizer was good. Mains were just ok. Might be more fun with a group than a date night. There was one conversation card in the menu. We were expecting a more unique experience.
I dine here once before when it was Scout. I just feel like this place, even as conversation, is lacking some substance. Fancy food, fancy prices not a lot of depth.
Best service. Great time.
Conversation will never disappoint your tastebuds
