Contigo is a Spanish and Catalan tapas restaurant in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Our menu features rustic dishes inspired by the vivid flavors of Barcelona. In addition, we offer artisanal Spanish and American hams and a daily Catalan coca (flatbread) from our wood burning oven. We cook everything from scratch using the products of our local, organic, and humane farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and artisans.

What Insiders Are Saying

The Infatuation
7.6

We probably wouldn't venture to Noe Valley just for a meal at Contigo, but we're happy this lively spot exists in an otherwise tame area.

Ratings 7.5-8.0:These are restaurants that are reliable, tasty, and particularly good for whatever we have deemed them “Perfect For.” Hit up a 7.7 for Date Night with confidence, as long as you don’t need the restaurant to be the most interesting thing that happens that night.

Always a great mix of small dishes and larger Catalan dishes. Give the squid ink risotto a try.

Unfortunately, the waiter was reduced friendly and it took him 30 min. to serve our table for the first time, as well the water came with the bill and not when we arrived. Everything took too long, the bread was reduced to a minimum and when we ordered more, it were exact one slice per person. I have been at Contigo a few time and the service was only moderate, but this time it was unprofessional. In general, the tapas are good, but tiny compared to other locations and the Spanish standard. The location is average, as it is too expensive for the quality, quantity, a bit too noisy and mostly the service lacks terrible. A pity!

Overpriced. Some food was decent, but not worth the price. Good sangria and wine list. They had plenty of seating inside but sat us in the back outside.

Only issue was we got our water after asking 4-5 different servers. The rest of the experience was FLAWLESS. Will come back soon!

Food, service, and ambiance was good... just wished there was was a larger selection of tapas. Purchasing tapas by the piece was a little different, so was pacing out the tapas in courses. It was much more enjoyable when we finally told our server to bring things out when they were ready. Part of the fun of having tapas is picking and choosing from a variety of dishes on the table. Pricing was a bit on the high side.

A $17 glass of wine should be larger than a taster size... I was surprised and disappointed in the size of the serving, but not the wine - which was fine.

Our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. I’m very familiar with Spanish food- did not expect to be wowed- but the food was great. I thought the steak was pricey for the size 4 oz $28! The sangria was very watered down.
Overall a pleasant surprise-I will be back

We made a reservation for 7pm on valentines day. We were seated promptly and the server explained the menu to us. Food and ambiance was good. I just wish I knew that they had nothing indoor and outdoor seating when I made my reservation, so I would have a choice. Overall we had a very good experience.

Great place . . . from the warm and gracious hosts . . . to exceptional food . . . and really good waiters (they know the food and wines very well . . . and they are pleasant and efficient). Unlike lost tapas places, Contigo has mastered the metered flow of food -- in intervals that match the pace of a relaxed meal.

I have dined with family and friends at Contigo a number of times since it opened a few years ago. It is a desirable restaurant for many reasons.

I am confident that when I need a special place to have dinner, I can bring my party to Contigo for excellent food, service and ambiance. The prices are reasonable, and it's helpful that we live in the neighborhood.

I took my wife there for her birthday on a friend's recommendation. He's friends with the sous chef. We did the tapas taster. it was excellent and we walked out of their stuffed. The taster was comprised of 4-5 courses and the food was excellent. Very fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend Contigo for an enjoyable atmosphere and great food.

We had two tapas, an appetizer, and two entrees for our meal. The meatball appetizer was great, made with beef, lamb, and something else, maybe ham. Everything we ate was tasty and beautifully presented. Our excellent waiter was Javier, who was born in Barcelona. He still speaks in a strong Spanish accent. We had five glasses of wine. The bill was about $100.
