What Insiders Are Saying
A big, open indoor/outdoor space great for cocktails and Southern food.
Per usual, my experience at Contigo was solid. The food was delicious, love the barrel aged old fashioned, and the pie was a perfect dessert for our group. Our friend is moving, so we wanted somewhere that felt very Austin, and Contigo delivered.
The food was excellent once it finally arrived, but it took more than an hour, even with a reservation. We were told over and over again that the food would be just "five more minutes, and we were given excuses instead of an apology for the delay. Pretty irritated with the wait and the service and its reflection on me given that I booked the reservation for my party. At this point I'm not sure I'd return or recommend Contigo to others.
Delicious! Every single thing we ate was outstanding. Cool vibe and great service. Loved it!
We had dinner with another couple and found Contigo to be terrific. The food was a standout. Between us we had the steak and halibut after sharing appetizers of green beans, olives and fried avocado. Desserts stole the show. The carrot cake was accompanied by the most surprisingly delicious celery granita and the blueberry cobbler had the most lovely spice...cardamom? Drinks were also great. I had a pour of Jefferson's Ocean, which was a nice surprise on the bourbon menu. A lovely evening. We will definitely return.
Food was fantastic. good flavors that were well executed. the dishes were "dressy" without becoming pretentious.
Excellent food. Great service. Like the place BUT noise level was above par. Maybe because it was near end of happy hour. We will definitely return
Love this restaurant. We have been going since it opened eight or ten years ago. The food is fresh and creative, the staff friendly and able, the ambiance is relaxed and hip. Would be nice to see a little more variety on the brunch menu.
Love this place! Love how they've invested in the space to make it even better and it has always been great. Well done.
This is the third or fourth time we've been to Contigo. The atmosphere is great and the food is well worth the visit. We were delighted and impressed with each of the food offerings and felt like the meal was spot on. The service however left a lot to be desired. Our waiter, Dustin, didn't seem very interested or warm. We ordered a bottle of wine, but he didn't do wine service. He just poured the glasses not letting our host taste the bottle before pouring. The wine was great, so we wouldn't have sent it back, but it is serving 101 to perform wine service when bottles are ordered. We also ordered the porridge, but weren't provided with spoons. It took a few minutes to get them, another oversight. It left me with an impression that he was doing us a favor by serving us, rather than that he was welcoming us to the restaurant and providing hospitality. I think we'll be back to Contigo, but we'll probably ask to be sat in someone else's section.
Absolutely amazing food
An Austin classic! Causal, authentic and reasonably priced.
Spring in Austin = best time of year to go to Contigo. Outdoor seating, lots of dogs (on leash), good drinks and food.
A great spot for couples, families, foodies. Great cocktails, delicious food, but service was meh. Friendly, though. We've been twice, and will definitely go again!
Our waitress was very helpful and that set the tone for a great experience. Recommendations were great, loved the carrots...this place as my wife says reminds her of the episode of HIMYM, and the best burger....but for their sweet potato ice cream. Glad we found it again (3 years later) and it will be added to our regular rotation of places to eat. Love the outdoor eating space, dogs are welcome and definitely a place we will recommend. Only downside is the parking to patron ratio, might be happy hour related but empty tables and a full parking lot make it a little more like going through a roundabout. I’d recommend getting a valet just for parking, it’s small enough that people can find their cars after.
Another great night out at Contigo. Food service and experience was great!
Contigo did not have my reservation through OpenTable because they no longer use the service.
We had an excellent meal. Three of us shared small plates and an order of the rabbit dumplings. The drinks were delicious, the atmosphere was friendly, and our server was great!
Food was okay, but limited food options. Great patio!
Food was great, drinks were great, but our waiter was horrible. Our guys that were bringing us water and our food were fantastic. I wished I could have only tipped those humans.
I would have liked to have ordered more drinks, but after taking our order for food, our waiter failed to stop by our table again, and generally looked the other way when he walked by the table.
We tried to make ourselves feel better by making up a story that his boyfriend just broke up with him and that is why we saw him on his phone all of the the time. He had to be so distraught that all of his things would be left at the curb at their apartment. I know I would. Although making up his story helped, it was still really frustrating coming to a place with the expectation of having drinks with friends, and getting served drinks one time. In retrospect, I should have just gone up to the bar and ordered our drinks for the table. At least then the bartenders would have been tipped instead of our horrible waiter.
We had a great time. The food was good. There were several vegetarian sides and salads but nothing on the entree menu except a slightly boring grilled cheese sandwich. The staff was very friendly and both my kids and my parents were happy with everything.
One of our favorite places...great food, drinks and atmosphere!
This was the second time eating here, we sat at a community table outside on a beautiful warm June evening. I had a great rabbit stew amazing, farm to table. Service was attentive, we enjoyed our friends and food. A definite "return to" spot when visiting Austin.
Food was good but the service was slow and inattentive at best.
Cool place. All open air. Appetizers and burgers were great. Drinks also hit the spot, and they had a nice $2 drafts happy hour. I'd go again.
Very nice place for brunch tasty food. Rabbit and dumplings, beef tongue hash and good bloody marys..wish the rabbit dish was more plentiful. .small portion especially if you exclude the bisquits
One of the best burgers in Austin. Fried green beans are pretty good, too.
I waited too long to come here. Won't wait so long to return. It was all incredibly good and the service was stellar.
Party of 8, including two elderly guests, seated in the sun outside. Reservations were made 3+ weeks in advance. While we were sweating it out in the sun...under umbrellas that covered maybe 1/3 of our table...there was an unused table for 8 in the covered area with ceiling fans, etc.
We had to ask repeatedly for more water and the staff seemed irked that we would bother them with such a request.
Food was very good, but not enough to overcome the overall bad experience.
Too bad...I thought I had found a cool, new spot, but they have a lot of work to do to learn how to take care of their customers.
Sat down for mothers day. Server told me twice she would take our drinks. Table next to me arrived after me and got their drinks before me.
My daughters orange juice didn't come with our drinks. Had to ask again.
Eggs Benedict was blah. Nothing special.
Maybe it's good for a beer but not for a meal.
Terrible service. Ruined mother's day. Never again.
Enjoyed our meal very much. A bit loud and a windy evening in an covered outdoor venue, so kind of hard to hear dinner conversation. Food is very good though and overall we had a nice time and an enjoyable evening.
I have wanted to try Contigo for a while but just kept forgetting about it. So glad I remembered this time and made my way there. Food and service were fantastic, and by the time we left at 7 it was packed. On a Tuesday. Guessing it attracts a lot of Mueller residents, who are lucky to have such a cool place so close by...we will definitely go back soon and often!
So great. Our server was awesome and honest giving us her opinion of what she thought was good and what she wasn't a fan of. Awesome vibe and a great deal
We arrived at 11am. 40 minutes later we still didn't have our drinks. Bottom line opinion on this place is that the food is good but service is awful. We had a party of 8 (6 adults and 2 kids). The server added 20% automatically which I also found a little presumptuous based on our experience. We won't likely be back.
Everything was great. Food and staff...
I would not recommend it for an Easter brunch. The eggs benedict were far from the quaility I would make at home. the tongue hash was good although
Atmosphere here is fantastic. Outdoor dining with nice weather was perfect. Excellent food, interesting choices, great, friendly, service. A+!
Though an open venue noise level was moderate. Food was OK - rabbit was nothing special. Staff was very busy covering multiple tables.
Due to SXSW craziness, I had to change my reservation at Contigo 3 times. Each time, and when I finally arrived, the host couldn't have been more understanding and friendly about the whole situation. I've been to Contigo just twice but it's marching up my lust of favorites, due to the great patio seating, the tasty food and drink - and now, the fantastic service.
This place never disappoints . The host was super friendly and accommodating even when we where 3 minutes late . Food is delish in the whole menu , drinks are amazing . Can't wait to try their sister restaurant Chicon
