Absolutely wonderful! This week I had the pleasure of having brunch one day and lunch another day at Contessas. Brunch was delightful. Portions were more than we expected. And Cappuccino was so perfect! Lunch was amazing the lobster with angel hair, fried chicken, arugula with squash so many unique dishes and all were great! My husbands steak was cooked to perfection. Special experience both times with the best service. We will be back next time we visit Boston.

We were forgotten after our initial server finished their shift. We weren’t introduced to our new server so we didn’t know who to ask initially about our food. I had to yell over at a server nearby to get their attention as they were busy chatting away with other guests. We got our dessert for free because of this, but expected more for the inconvenience and better service at this beautiful restaurant.

We were strongly disappointed with the food. My veal Milanese was more like a dry out piece of leather, so dried out that I had to swallow water with every bite. the French toast Milanese for breakfast were good, but the parsley potatoes that came with the breakfast were so over cooked that they were barely eatable, and some were truly burned. Both the scrabble eggs that my husband orders and my over-and-easy eggs were also over done. McDonald makes better eggs that what we ate that one morning. Over all we found the food over cooked and a great disappointment. I also found that the only lettuce served was arugula which is very bitter to me and ruins my sense of smell as well as taste. It came with breakfast as well as the veal. There are so many other wonderful lettuces that we ate in Italy that had no bitter taste and complemented the meal. I have traveled a lot and will never recommend this restaurant to any of my friends. They are so many great restaurants in Boston that to us Contessa was a total waste of good money. The only reason we ate breakfast there is because we wanted to do some sightseen near the coast and wanted a early morning breakfast. After that we found room service breakfast were better cooked and delicious. The Newbury Boston Hotel was wonderful and the staff was beyond friendly, helpful and hard working.

Contessa is a delight that you cannot refuse! I enjoyed an incredible Wednesday lunch on a beautiful early afternoon. The atmosphere of the restaurant is beyond exceptional — I even had the pleasure of meeting the florist for the establishment, of whom was as beautiful as her designs. I indulged in a quaint solo lunch, to celebrate the release of my first poetry book. Francisco took great care of me, from start to finish. The Seasonal Bellini was a refreshing treat, as I enjoyed the Daily Imported Burrata as my Antipasti. The presentation & taste was perfection. Next on the table was the Ricotta Gnudi di Pecora, which may I recommend. . . This was undoubtedly the BEST dish that I have ever experienced. There is significant passion and purpose poured into this dish — applause to the entire culinary team for this piece. Seriously. If you are fond of great company, thoughtful wine, and outstanding cuisine — Contessa is a must. Special appreciation for the team who made this visit extraordinary.
