Take Connie and Ted’s for what it is and you will love it: a fun, casual place to grab a cold beer and some oysters with friends. Just don't listen to the hype and expect much more.
Just love this place.......my wife is from Rhode Island and got me into R.I. seafood. Have always loved raw clams and this is the only place in LA that I've found with good raw clams. Stuffies!!! love them and can get them no where else. The fried clams with bellies are the real deal. The grilled fresh fish is always great and always offers varieties that I've never had. I need to start going to the bar for a beer, clams and stuffies, getting hungry again...............the place is expensive but worth it if you crave your east coast fix!
Delicious seafood. Incredible oysters. Try the fish and chips and the lobster roll....all the fish is fresh and wonderful.
Absolutely wonderful place that was thw highlight of the tree day trip to LA with regards to eating. Very, very creative appetizers - we ate scallops hokaido dog and albacore tartar that were exquisite and imaginative. Reccomended for foodies.
My wife and I go here for dinner maybe once a month and it's always a treat. Outstanding seafood, great service and a really interesting beer list. Highly recommend the lobster roll (hot or cold, both great) and chowder. The cocktails are also interesting and tasty. Just a great meal every time we go, which keeps us going back.
I've been twice before - not for a while – during the first year it opened - and had a fabulous lobster roll. This time opted for fish and chips which was tasteless and greasy. As were the fries and onion rings.
Friends had breaded/grilled fish which was OK and one enjoyed his chowder. The house salads were gigantic – something it would've been nice to know as we would've split one or two – but we ended up with 3 half eaten salads. My wife had pasta which was way spicy. We said at the outset she couldn't have anything spicy (recovering from throat cancer ) but were not alerted to the marinara being served this way. The waitress was lovely and very amenable and brought her plain pasta, but it was dreadful. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this except for the lobster roll - which we remember is fabulous.
This place is really nice for outdoor dining, food is fresh and good tasting, service is cordual
Amazing service and food. Our server was Erin and her attention to detail was awesome. Will be back!
Food was a little salty.
My OpenTable account states that I'm a vegetarian and gluten free. It would be nice if the restaurant waiter was aware of that so there's no meat in my food.
The valet service is horrible and the way they cooked food is very cheap and wasted. I would rather go to McDonald's for a filet O fish instead of having batter chip cod here.
The stuffies are amazing and so tradionally the same as cape cod area! Love them!
Connie and Ted's continues to be a favorite for us. Our most recent visit was on Saturday evening. It was very busy, yet the server was timely and friendly. As for the food, the fish was fresh and prepared perfectly. And I love the trio of clam chowders! The Rhode Island version is memorably good but I can't give up having the other two also. The Indian pudding topped off our dinner beautifully. The ambiance is casual; it reminds me of the Jersey shore but we enjoy it.
out of town friend
Was a great meal! We both got the DineLA selection along with the hot rolls and 3 sample soup. The only issue was my very last bite into my lobster roll I ended up pulling 2 pieces of shell out of my mouth. I was finished with my meal so I didn't end up saying anything to the waiter, but was a bit bummed about it. Other than that the food was wonderful and yummy and would 100% come back! :-)
Went during restaurant week; thus good value. Server was informative, patient, professional, and efficient. Ordered the lobster roll, always delicious. Chose to sit inside, though it was noisy as the table was close to the bar, and a bit chilly as the location was right near the door.
This visit we we a bit disappointed with the fish and chips. Luke warm and bit soggy. The hot lobster roll was delicious.
We absolutely will return:)
Food is fantastic and you can't beat the awesome service. The restaurant is really busy but very well ran. Great management team.
We really liked the selection of dishes available on the DineLA menu. The oysters, chowder trio, smoked yellowtail and fish sandwich are all delicious. We shared the yellowtail with aioli, frisee & yellow potatoes which we recommend sharing as it is a rich dish with a generous portion.
Booked table for 5 - forced to sit at small table - rude staff
Our lunch was perfection! My friend was in heaven over the New England Clam Chowder. (I avoided it because it contained pork.) He followed that with the Oyster Sandwich, evidently to his great pleasure. I had the Hand Crafted Linguine With Mussels And Clams. Comes with a lot of garlic, but fortunately they were in big enough slivers that I could fish them out relatively easily. Then I was in absolute heaven too! The seafood elements were fresh and tender -- no surprise that they would get that part right; the pasta was silky, but with great body; and the marinara was sooo flavorful and rich, with a nice kick to it. Except for the specials, prices are generally on the high side, but even if your wallet ends up hurting a bit, you'll have a very happy belly.
Service was not good, food was very slow
We had a reservation for 4 people, yet they seated 2 of us, so I thought they were using common sense because they weren't that busy anyway. We were seated and had been presented with menus and our waiter had taken a drinks order. Then a woman who never introduced herself, approached the table and said their policy was to require all in a party to be present before being seated, so she expected us to return to the bar. I replied: "but your colleague already seated us and we've already ordered drinks" to which she only repeated the policy. I explained we were happy to order food and drinks while we waited for our other 2 guests to arrive but she, for the 3rd time, repeated the policy. I explained to her that we were not going to leave the table and she leaned over and removed the menus, silverware, plates and water! We waited 15 more minutes then our guests arrived. Our poor waiter was embarrassed by her behavior and tried the rest of the night to make up for her atrocious actions. The food is good, not exceptional so I would encourage anyone looking for a pleasant evening and seafood to avoid Connie & Ted's on Santa Monica Blvd.
We arrived at 7:50 for an 8pm reservation. The hostess area was very chaotic and crowded. We were told they would seat us shortly...around 8:05, but we weren't seated until 8:25. Then no one approached our table for the next 15 minutes. We didn't get a morsel of food at our table until 9:15. The food was okay...nothing special, but the service was so bad that we would never consider a return visit. When we got the bill there were items we hadn't ordered on the bill...all I. All just bad service
So glad a friend recommended Connie & Ted's! Food. My lobster roll was delicious. My friend has several allergies and our server was diligent about addressing them. And she was really pleased with the gluten-free chowder. I'll be back for sure.
Gave us the worst table in the restaurant.
the oysters were so good. the food was good, the dessert was not so sweet, a plus!
Went on a Saturday night during DineLA. Arrived about 15 minutes early and was seated right away. Outside patio seating but had heaters overhead and plastic covers to block some wind. Did not order from the DineLA menu as my girlfriend just wanted to order things to try. Got the Live Sea Urchin, half dozen Kumamotos, Grilled Calamari, New England Clam Chowder, Portugese Fish Stew, and Lobster Roll. Uni and Kumamotos were great starters and delicious. Grilled Calamari was cooked well but I felt the sauce wasn't too interesting. Almost like a marinara. Clam chowder was good, not too creamy so if that's the style you like, this may not be your favorite. Fish stew was good but I felt the linguica sausage basically overwhelmed everything in the stew. Lastly the lobster roll...maybe just not my thing. Lobster was very well cooked, but not my favorite as it's not in a roll, but on a buttered thick toast folded in half. The toast was nice, but not a roll. Mostly, the service was just a miss for us. Our meal took 2 hours. The wait between dishes got up to 10+ minute at one point while we watched others near us on the DineLA menu get their food immediately. Also our wait staff didn't seem to be too aware of us as there the tables were all full. All in all, the meal was fine but nothing memorable. Still would recommend to others that love seafood but just another restaurant among the many in Los Angeles.
Wow! The food was delicious! The Lobster Roll was unbelievable! Great service as well! We will definitely be coming back!
Poor device at the bar by food was great (restaurant week deal)
So it was a very chilly day and we walk into this energetic restaurant with a reservation only to be seated on the enclosed patio where it felt like a million degrees. They had every heater to the maximum. This issue probably changed my experience. The first waiter was so nice, took our orders and turned off one of the heaters. Then we were assigned to a different waiter. Our first course came and I actually ordered off the menu a side salad. This salad was huge and very good to start. Along came the heater police, all this woman did was look up at the ceiling at the heaters and turn them up with her remote control. The lobster roll was amazing. I've had them on the east coast and didn't expect much, I saw great reviews on Yelp and they were spot on, yum! For dessert my friend ordered the Blondie off of the DineLA menu and said it was really good. Our waiter had more tables and seemed very annoyed as our bill arrived, literally shouting at some poor young employee to deal with us. Would I come back? Yes, for the food, but the experience left something to be desired. By the way, the area is permit parking, the lot is $8, and if you get lucky you might find a meter. Welcome to WeHo! Like other people who wrote reviews on Yelp, have a training day in customer service.
All of the food was excellent and very fresh. The dessert was amazing!! They leave there without trying the blondie
The blondie dessert was the best!
Everything was great. Portion was a little small but exceptional.
Visited here for dineL.A with a friend to enjoy their dinner menu. Savored oysters, calamari, lobster roll and catch of the day as well as both desserts on offer - loved it!
EXCELLENT RESTAURANT IN ALL RESPECTS -- QUALITY FRESH FISH AND SHELLFISH, CREATIVE MENU, GREATSERVICE, LIVELY AMBIENCE. ALWAYS DELIVERS A FIRST RATE EXPERIENCE.
Service, while good, could have been more attentive. Very pleasant experience overall.
Good seafood lunch. Service was slow but it was dine LA week so maybe that's why.
We've been to Connie & Ted's several times and we've never been disappointed. From the
service to the quality of the food has always been a home run.
Great experience. Great food. Chowder trio was great. Burger was fantastic. Would def go back. We are in the industry and everything was up to our standards and beyond.
Cold and drafty.
Service was slow.
My 2nd time here, I like their brunch menu best. This time We wanted to try lunch, but missed it by 2 minutes & the staff wouldn't budge. We did Dinner and it was ok.. The entree took sometime, although the restaurant was empty, led me to believe they weren't quiet ready for dinner. The lobster roll needed seasoning. Kumamoto Oysters were fresh, but not much variety of oysters in the menu. Not sure I would try them again.. But hopeful they can improve on customer service.
