What Insiders Are Saying
Take Connie and Ted’s for what it is and you will love it: a fun, casual place to grab a cold beer and some oysters with friends. Just don't listen to the hype and expect much more.
If you get there at the shift change, be prepared to be ignored. The server left and we sat there waiting for someone to come to our table. I bnb ordered New England clam chowder that looked like Manhattan clam chowder. I ate it anyway. Standard scolding soup that is too hot to eat when it is brought to the table. Had a burger and the soft shell crab sandwich which were both okay. Good selection of oysters.
Best fish in Los Angeles. They have varieties of fish and oysters that no other restaurant has. Extremely fresh and consistent.
Michelle was an excellent server. And the food was delicious. Love those clam cakes and hot lobster rolls!
Great food, service and experience!
Food was very good but portions very small. Had East coast Clambake type dinner, but only 3 mussels and 3 clams! could have easily and cheaply added more mollusks. was really craving a good filling portion of shellfish. Swordfish was delicious but again a very small piece. Should give bread with dinner, not charge $6. Fresh Shrimp appetizer also delicious. Greeting host was not friendly or social, even though we had a reservation, but waiter service was nice, nothing to brag about. as we left, manager was sweet and gave us salt water taffy, the whole experience left us with a very Cape Cod feeling. will definitely come back but hope they up the ante with all the choices to eat in LA.
Good food, thoughtfully prepared. The service is very aggressive! Extremely LOUD!
Fun West Hollywood restaurant. Charming ambience, very friendly and attentive waitstaff and delicious food. Wide selection of fresh fish, great salads, creative drink options, and freshly made desserts. We had a great time.
Like many reviewers, we're ex New England ers. The ambience, the service, the great menu choices were what one might expect from Cimirusti. But we ordered New England stuff and we're moderately disappointed. Deep fried clam bellies were beautifully cooked in excellent batter and tasty oil, but, slas, the bellies were not plump nor tasty. Similarly for the clams on pasta... Just missing that old New England freshness. We will go back but stick to the Pacific bounty.
We love Connie and stares. Great food and great service. We feel like we are family.
Fresh seafood with lots of choices in a casual atmosphere makes this a great choice. Bar seating is fun, and there are also outside tables. Valet parking is convenient. The best oysters I've had in a long time -- up there with my all-time favorite oyster spot in NY's Oyster Bar. Friendly professional servers at the bar and dining area. The best place in Los Angeles for seafood.
My date and I ordered different fresh catches. Both of them were really, really undercooked in the center. The waitress said that is the way the fish is cooked- but, we could have it cooked a little more. After starting a meal and eating almost half of it sending it back does not wirk. Why not just do it right at the start, like almost all fish places?
Quite high priced, $9 valet, and just not very goid. There are far better seafood place to eat. Connie and Teds used to be a whole lot better.
Cod was really underdone
It was just lovely! Our server was very sweet, accommodating and knowledgeable. The food was amazing as usual. Overall such an awesome experience! Connie and Ted’s never disappoints!
I have a shellfish allergy and love fish and they took good care not to cross contaminate me which is a very hard task in that place considering the menu is 85% shellfish , Connie and ted thanks for having me and keeping me safe while I enjoyed your awesome fish sandwich
I'm originally from Boston, so FISH, especially FRIED CLAMS, was the draw. I was not disappointed. I suggested that my brother. who flies to Boston just to get fried clams with the bellies, come down to check out the restaurant. As repeatedly stated by the terminator, "I'll be back."
We come here and often as we live in the neighborhood and love the food!
However, the last few times have been extremely poor service.
We had dinner at 5:30pm, which I understand is a staff switch time.
The other night the server forgot to put in the fried chicken orders for the table.
He was somewhat apologetic, but did not offer anything else...everyone else at their food and we were ready to leave by the time the chicken arrived.
On top of this, once the waiter took our order we never saw him again. No water refills. No inquiry as to whether we may want another glass of tea or wine.
It was extremely disappointing as we used to love coming here and now every time the customer service gets worse.
Came for dinner after years of going for fabulous lunches. I was surprised that the whole vibe of good seafood in a casual atmosphere was thwarted with dinner. Took serious dinning to a weirdly expensive average dinner. The fish described was totally the opposite of what received - the service was fair secondary to time timing of the food received. Stick with lunch, chowders and lobster rolls are fantastic!
Some of the best food around. Lobster Roll is top notch, chowder sampler is awesome, deserts are fantastic. Go check this place out asap.
Had a hot lobster roll and a cold one. Both were good. Outstanding onion rings. Great selection of oysters.
I was just there for the first time, so I don't know how many of the checkboxes above apply to this restaurant. However, I plan to know this place very well. The food and the service were both outstanding. Relatively speaking, I think it was reasonably priced too. I have been bragging about it to my foodie friends ever since that night.
Connie and Ted’s keeps getting better. Great food, attentive service...a fun place! The only thing that could make it better...how about Fried Shrimp? That could be a great addition to the menu!
Wait staff is excellent and very pleasant. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Casual ambiance.
Moderate sound level. Go early (6:30) if possible. Noise level better early in evening.
I made a reservation, which I'm glad I did as it was a busy Friday night. We only waited for a minutes in the bar lounge. Our server was apparently a bit behind so one of the managers attended to us, and we received great service. She had wonderful recommendations, as my husband and I had never dined there before. The food was very flavorful and the portions perfect. My husband did not like the soft shelled crab sandwich because he thought it was not as authentically prepared as he is used to at East Coast eateries but other than that we thoroughly enjoyed it. They even had some fun and tasty cocktails on the menu as well.
Great meal when you are missing the East Coast seafood and feel like an escape to an eastern seafood diner! Fun and scrumptious
I am from boston and eat a lot of good New England Clam Chowder. I was told it was different than what I am used to, but worth getting. The waiter was right. The pieces of clam were large and tender. The broth was very good.
Great West Coasr version of a New England restaurant. Love that it has steamed clams! Great sides and salads, too.
The food here is great. On our last visit service was slow. On several visits now the hostess has been very rude. When we asked to sit outside she made a face and when she took us to table she just throws down the menus and walks away. It's been more than one occasion and always the same girl.
No real parking option except for valet which was $9.00. Food was very good, service was average. We were celebrating a birthday and there was no complimentary birthday dessert. Rolls are to die for, absolutely the best, almost like eating cake...sinful. Fish and chips were good, fries were salty. Mac n Cheese was a hit at the table.
Always great. Shrimp cocktail, fish and chips are classics always perfectly done. Great cocktails
I came for Dine LA and the food was excellent. I ordered the calamari and seafood stew, and they were both delicious. Service was a little bit slow, but it was quite busy.
Colleen the Manager is Amazing!
She is very efficient snd remains calm snd friendly, even when it is busy.
Food was not as spectacular as I had hoped it would be. Sat around for 20 minutes before a waiter came by to see us. Once he showed up, he was great but the whole waitstaff was not very attentive. Arrived at 7:45 for an 8pm reservation, wasn't seated until 8:20pm. Fish was not as fresh as we had expected it would be considering it is a fish house. The Blondie (for dessert) is the only reason I would consider going back. Otherwise, would not go back.
The food was excellent - and great value we each had lobster rolls and oysters. . very yummy. . . and there was an issue with the bill. . . restaurant manager called and said we had been over-charged and that he was correcting and refunding the appropriate amount. . .great service!! Will be back!
Food was good although not quite as good as before. However the service was painfully slow, wait staff aren’t attentive, didn’t get to order a second round of drinks.
Terrible waitress, came to table once but everything else good as usual
Very very energetic.. So if you're not up for loud convos everywhere then this isn't the place.. The food was good and comes out relatively quick. My waitress didn't have much of a personality but the hostess was pretty awesome! I watched her as she remembered names of people leaving.. I thought that was quite the touch with her very sparkly, upbeat presence. That alone made me want to return..
Was seated 30 minutes after our reservation time. Hostess didn't have the courtesy to keep us informed, in fact she had to be reminded twice we were still waiting. We honestly felt she'd forgotten us as she didn't remember our name with each inquiry. Guided to sit in the lounge area where we were told a server would take our drink orders while we waited for our table. Never happened, was ignored, we gave up and just went to the bar to order drinks. Not just loud but extremely loud atmosphere. If you're looking to have a conversation, better be versed in sign language. Very pricy. 3 glasses of wine, 1 hors d'oeuvres and 3 entrees with tax and tip was over $200. My party won't be going back.
Super repas, produits frais. Dommage que la table réservée n était pas dispo à l heure mais sinon c était un super dîner copieux et très bon.
Went for DineLA. The Oysters were amazing! I have only had them a few times but my companion ordered them and they were so fresh. My favorite thing was the grilled calamari. LOVED IT! I am a huge fan of calamari and love it when I can find it NOT deep fried. I also prepare it myself just sauteed in the pan with lemon olive oil garlic and butter, but this was such a great flavor!! It had a slightly grill taste and had a touch of tomato concentrated puree with it which added great flavor. We also had the lobster roll which they are famous for and that was very tasty and fresh with not too much mayo so you can really taste the lobster. The fish and chips I heard that they were good, but they were just OK, I have had better at other places. The last course we had the Blondie brownie which was almost too sweet, but such rich buttery butterscotch flavor and delicious. The only thing was that we had to wait for a table for just about a half hour, even though we had a 8:30pm reservation, but the place was packed.
What’s the point in making a reservation when the restaurant will still make you wait 40 minutes to be seated? They sat walk ins before my party. Totally unprofessional.
