Seafood
At Connie and Ted’s you’ll find simply prepared fish and shellfish, inspired by the classic clam shacks, oyster bars, and fish houses, that dot the New England Seaboard and the Western Coast.

Enjoy one (or two) of 24 California craft beers on tap, while sampling from our large variety of oysters, clams and shellfish, shucked to order, at our Raw Bar. Wind down the day with a classic cocktail at the bar, or enjoy a warm lobster roll outside on the covered, open-air patio overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard.

What Insiders Are Saying

The Infatuation
7.5

Take Connie and Ted’s for what it is and you will love it: a fun, casual place to grab a cold beer and some oysters with friends. Just don't listen to the hype and expect much more.

Ratings 7.0-7.5:These are your neighborhood standbys - the places that you’ll happily hit for some pasta or a quick salad, but not a restaurant you are bringing your parents or (god forbid) a date to. The true embodiment of good but not great.

The fish & chips were bland and greasy - onion rings also. There were only two positives 1) special cocktail and 2) the trio of chowders appetizer. I specifically asked the waitress how large the fish portion was - she indicated it would be about a six inch piece. There were (2) larger pieces in each order. Had we know, we would have only ordered one entree and would have gotten extra sides. The ala carte prices are exorbitant. A $100 meal on a Tuesday evening should have been been more satisfying - sad to say, it was lackluster, at best.

I just ate the best salmon I have ever had, not to mention my boyfriend's love for the best oysters anywhere. I love that everything on the menu is wild caught and sustainable! The crab salad is to die for! Also if your friends are going and you're not sure - their steaks are some of the best in town too!

We got to the restaurant a few minutes prior to our reservation time. We didn’t get seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time. It sounded like the hostess messed up and gave our table away. They didn’t bother explaining anything to us and told us “our table is almost ready”. After being seated, it took some time for our waitress to take our order. Our food took a really long time to come. We watched other tables get their meals before us. Our water was never filled. We had to track someone down if we needed anything. It was a really disappointing experience for the money we spent.

Waitress was not attentive but kept letting us know she was taking her tables as they come.

Drink times were 15-20 minutes.

Oysters and a salad took 30 minutes.

Lobster roll great, fish and chips mediocre.

Batter fell off the fish.

Always reliable. Great scene/vibe and place is always lively and bustling. Great/accommodating staff (friendly, courteous and responsive). Food is always reliable and can always count on a solid meal. Seafood always fresh and tasty, love the lobster roll and fried clams (with bellies). Check out the daily menu/specials as lots of interesting stuff.

Arrived on time, and 2 in our party were running late as one was a nurse who had worked the night shift. The restaurant which was not full, has do seat policy if not all guest are present. This is a West Hollywood thing, which not living in the area I was not happy with. Anyway we were seated 10 minutes later, as the host shift was changing. In fact the same shift change impacted our server, so that is why it's only a 4 and not a 5, as the food is always good.

Great restaurant with great food just had not the best birthday dinner because our service was quite slow even tho they weren't packed. And it seemed like the server paid more attention to his large party table then us, a party of 2, but the food is great just took awhile to get.

We were seated outside in the corner near the busing section. Female Server was as uptight and unfriendly as u can be, yet she was professional. Food portions are TINY!
Overpriced average food. Inside dining area is louder than a club scene on a saturday night.

Seated quickly despite arriving a little before reservations and one short. Service initially slow enough to aggravate husband but once waiter located all good. “ born in East LA” one of their signature drinks and a margarita like variant excellent, cole slaw and Mac and cheese sides wonderful ( Mac and cheese exceptional), ling and black cod fresh fish options good. Their blonde dessert is decadent buttery and worth the trip alone

My good friend often raves about the clam chowder from Connie and Ted’s, so we finally went so that I could test it. I was extremely impressed by the clam chowder as well as the oysters. Both were super fresh. The service was lovely, everything was properly attended to when asked for, and my ridiculous request for the thickest Seabass filet was fulfilled!

Really bad experience. It was a disaster of an evening. Service was non-existent. Our waiter was switched out mid-order and then I barely saw the replacement waiter at all. I ordered the Surf and Turf and the size of the steak was just about the size of a silver dollar; incredibly small. Since no busboy would come to the table I decided to bus my own dirty dishes and then asked for my check since I couldn't find my waiter. The restaurant did provide a discount because of the situation but alas, not enough and I will most likely NOT be returning. It's a bummer because I have always really liked their food and visiting this restaurant. Something has certainly changed with how they run the restaurant and the attitude towards customers. I wish them well but without my patronage.

Seemed very crowded and a bit rushed. Oysters and grilled fish was excellent. The sides were lack luster to the main course. Tried the "anniversary special", did not seem to get the full value of what was ordered. Asked for a quiet room but felt like we were placed in a drum with a very loud table across from us.

this restaurant doesn't accommodate special diet needs. i don't know if its the waiter or the kitchen, but its a nono for me. also, its waaaay too expensive for not very good food, not enough choices, absolutely no ambiance, and 8 dollars to park your car in their-front -of -the- restaurant parking -area which you must use because its on busy busy busy santa monica blvd. overall, i wasted my time and money. the gal greeter is very nice.

Want so bad to absolutely love this place but every time we visit it takes so long to get seated even with reservations. Even once we’re seated we have to request the waiter/waitress come see us just to get water and drinks ordered. Food is amazing, staff is kind, but needs to work on management. Otherwise a great place.

I normally love Connie and Ted’s, but the overall experience of the meal was underwhelming. I didn’t love the seasonal cocktails; they were mediocre at best. My lobster roll was great and consistent. I made the fatal error of ordering dessert to go - the slice of cake was so small! I’ve cut pieces at my kids’ birthday parties that were larger than that. I’ve never had an experience like that before there. It was especially disappointing as it is something I routinely order. Yes, I am quibbling over an $11 piece of cake, but when you spend $200 on dinner, you expect a different experience.

The food is A-W-F-U-L. Truly horrible.
The fish dip was reasonably good but the fried calamari was a disaster. What the hell breading were they coated in? The fried clams were also coated in whatever that was and they were B-A-D. Granted I grew up on Howard Johnson’s fried clams and they were the best, bar none, in the history of the world but one would think that if one is paying $29 for a plate of them, they’d at least be edible. They weren’t. I am the Queen of the To Go/Doggie Bag brigade but they were so horrible that I didn’t eat more than 4 little strips and left the rest. The onion rings that one of my friends had were good though. He was also happy with his Angels on Horseback. My other dining companion thought the salmon was okay but it was a tiny portion. We each had a few “cocktails”. I use quotation marks because there was no discernible alcohol in them. And the prices are freaking RIDICULOUS. Grossly overpriced. Insanely overpriced.
I go there every few years and always forget that prison food would be better so I eventually go back. Each and every time I return, I get a solid reminder of just how bad this place is.
If you want decent prices, great food and excellent service, go a few blocks west to WeHo Bistro. You won’t be disappointed!

Waitress serving us looked high or having a bad day. Maybe she was asst Medmed across the street before her shift? Couldn't answer any of my menu questions without fail. Had to go ask the answer from others for every single question, not even joking. Only opened one of our wine bottles, didn't ask if we needed an ice bucket for the other. We even spoke to one of the bus boys in Spanish about her and they said she's been here five months and still can't keep up. They called her "tapada" in Spanish, which was so accurate. Only reason we didn't stiff her on the top was because we wanted the other wait staff to get something. Her advice on oyster varieties was completely useless. Both our grilled fish dishes came out ice cold. We like fish served rare to medium rare, but everything was cold, must have sat forgotten for a while on the counter, even Spinach and bacon side dish was room temp. No wonder it took so long. We didn't ask for a re-do because we already had waited so long and it the first time there with our guests so we didn't want to make them wait either. The only thing that was perfect was the Blondie. Such a shame because I always speak so highly of this place and this was the first bad experience we had.
