Compline is a new style of wine and food destination in the heart of downtown Napa created by Master Sommelier Matt Stamp and Ryan Stetins.

Open for lunch, dinner and late-night dining, Compline focuses on Napa cuisine: we support local growers and purveyors throughout wine country's bountiful seasons, while drawing on techniques and cultural influences from around the globe. Favorite fall dishes include flatiron steak, spätzle with brown butter, llano seco pork, and our best-in-town burger and duck fat fries.

The wine bar is at the core of Compline. Our wine list focuses on handpicked local favorites and top-class Napa wines, placed among a large selection of worldwide classics. A separate retail shop selection allows our guests to grab a bottle to go.

We want to bring the Napa community and visitors to our valley together to eat good food, enjoy great wine, and experience our relaxed downtown Napa hospitality.

UPDATED: Small but excellent menu. Small wine shop stocked with interesting wines at reasonable prices. Corkage is $15. And they have an excellent wine list by glass and bottle.

Compline is obviously run by food and wine pros. Sommelier-level wine knowledge from our server. A small but thoughtful menu of fresh local items, impeccable wine list, and a casual feeling but richly appointed and very comfortable space.

Food and general atmosphere is good but the acoustics are not great. A very loud group of six came in. They were having fun. But the noise level was very annoying.

I thought the lunch menu was extremely limited, and though the food was passable the price was outrageous for what was served. The final insult was the 15% service charge for a party of 2?!?! Never again.

While Compline is known as a great wine bar, the food is fabulous. There is a wide selection of wines that are available for retail purchase or for with dinner and mostly reasonably priced. Hidden in the mall area of downtown Napa,
worth hunting for.

I’m on Napa local, I had walked by the restaurant before. I was not expecting a spacious restaurant inside, elegant dining & wine or elevated food. Pleasantly surprised to have all of the above! Would highly recommend to a friend.

One of our favorites in Napa, and never disappointed. There is a limited menu but we always find things we like as do friends we introduced to the restaurant. Great burgers but I always order the duck when it is on the menu. Chicken and fish are also favorites. No matter what you order, have the "duck-fat fries," decadent but worth the calories. Appetizers good too so you can eat light when you want. Wines by the glass or from their list offer interesting options, so interesting we often forgo the wine we brought and enjoy one or more by the glass, from the list. We have bought bottles in the shop after tasting and prices are reasonable. Corkage is reasonable.

Had the worst experience ever in Napa!

After spending $200 in a meal, the manager came to our table and told us that they have people waiting that we needed to leave. First and last time there! If you decide still to go there, remember that you’ll have to hurry up with your meal because they will kick you out!

So many other excellent places in Napa...never again Compline!

Friendly staff, but overall I felt Compline was not worth the price tag. My chicken came out more on the rare side of medium rare, and we were charged $15 to have a bottle of wine opened that we purchased from the store.

Almost a year old. This place is a great find when in the downtown area. The food is creative and tasty. A great combination. This visit we started with the Tostones. A little spice, but in a very good way. YUM. My wife had the burger and skips the fries. I would recommend that you don't pass on the duck fat fries. Have had them before and again...YUM. I tried the special for this night. Liberty Farm duck. Well executed. They did a great job of rendering the fat, getting the skin crisp and the meat medium rare. Again...YUM. To top the meal off...the flourless chocolate cake with caramel is a must. Highly recommended.

Our food was great. The wheat berry salad was scrumptious and my husband loved the duck confit salad. Chris was a friendly, knowledgeable, very pleasant server. We were able to speak with Matt Stamp, one of the owners, and he brought us a very lovely champagne for lunch! We have recommended this new restaurant to many people!
Just wonderful!
