Compass Arizona Grill - Hyatt Regency Phoenix Ratings and Reviews
The views and food are great! Service and desert could be better though. Nothing was bad about the service but we were never offered a wine list or asked for a drink order. This seems like a huge miss on the restaurants part. The black and white cake was dry with no flavor so we took one bite and left. This is rare for us not to finish anything sweet. We were the only people in the place since it opened early for the final four. Could not reserve on open table but did on yelp and it would only let us do 5:30 even though a hotel manager told us it would open at 5. I went to the hotel concierge to update our time but was told I would have to call once they opened because the concierge can not make reservations at the restaurant in the hotel. He also was not aware it was opening early. If I was a concierge I would call myself or use yelp myself for the customer if the hotel did not empower me to help a guest. Mind you he was not at valet or doing anything else. the elevator also did not work at 5pm so we had to get engineering to help us get up to the restaurant. seems like the hotel does not have good communication or customer service so just keep that in mind if you want to check this place out.
We arrived at 6pm for our reservation and were promptly seated with menus. Our server came to our table 15 minutes later to take our drink order and since we had so long before she arrived, we also placed out app / dinner orders also.
10 minutes later our appetizers come out from another servers but still our drinks had not arrived. Finally a full 30 minutes after we arrived and we sat at the table our drinks arrived.
The server was apologetic, but I don't believe that they "got it".
The apps and dinners we ordered we prepared well and were tasty.
After our dinners came out the manager came over to see how everything was. I explained the misteps at the start and she offered to comp the first round of drinks and offered the explanation that the kitchen was also in charge of the bar and that they were backed up. I dunno, but I've never heard of a kitchen also being in charge of the bar, but anyway.
While the Compass has an amazing rotating view, I would not go back again, nor recommend this restaurant to anyone because of how poor the service was.
We were hosting some company guests from Taiwan during MTT and thought it would be a neat experience for them to have dinner on a rotating platform. The set up is not design for business and was meant more for lounging, romantic dinners and or cocktails. Although the hostess did a great job to keep us in the same area, the set up was very tight and awkward which made communicating with our guest very difficult. The food comment from the team was very salty and the steak ahi was over cooked.
The hostess and waitress did an awesome job !!
We went for our anniversary and was sat by a group of 10-12, 10 year girls, who were aloud to be LOUD & Run around the restaurant, it was very unacceptable for a high class place to expect such an unprofessional environment. i will not be recommending this place nor go back. the waiter couldn't even speak up or refill our waters without having to ask 3 times. i was going to speak with a manager and demand a refund because of the whole thing but i didn't wanna ruin my anniversary more than your restaurant did.
For Senior Prom, myself along with 12 of my closest friends gathered at the Compass Arizona Grill for dinner. It was absolutely amazing. The food was wonderful and the staff was very attentive. Even with several calls to add guests to the reservation, they were more than accommodating. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a special dinner. And one more thing, make sure to get the Macaroni & Cheese... It is to die for!
Really neat place with the best scenic view for a restaurant in all of Phoenix, perfect for dates, very friendly service, and really good clean food, my only cons is not much of menu selection and alittle pricey, tables are kinda bunched so nose level is slightly higher than desired however the view and atmosphere make up for it
On a recent trip to Phoenix for a conference, a friend and I ate at the Compass Arizona Grill for a late dinner. We timed our Open Table reservation so that we would be in the restaurant when the sun set since it is a rotating restaurant with a fantastic view of the city. The food was excellent and the service was extraordinary. When the sun was setting, we were invited to get up and walk around to the other side of the restaurant to view the beautiful scene. This was my second visit and I know any time I am in Phoenix, I will be returning here.
Delicious food, competent and friendly service and a great view of the city! We made reservations for 6pm so we could enjoy the sunset around 7pm. The braised short rib entree is excellent, as is the pork tenderloin. The chef is very flexible about substituting side dishes. Not all fine restaurants are so agreeable so we appreciated this! Dinner includes delicious southwest style cornbread. Try it with the honey butter - so good! So good we ate here three nights in a row!
We are nursing students that are all over the age of 22 and it was like we were being treated like we were 12 years old.Additionally all of us typically tip over 20% so when she stressed the importance of the gratuity and not splitting the checks it was a little ridiculous.
Most of the food items offered at the Easter brunch were well prepared and presented but the variety and creativity were lacking across the board. The meal itself was worth perhaps half of the $74 per plate fee. This is no longer a "must" visit restaurant for gourmet dining, the food is better at resort affairs a little closer to the ground.
I took my family here for Easter brunch and was taken back by the quality of food, the wait staff was excellent and the view was incredibly beautiful. The ability to see all of Phoenix from above at the compass grill made the experience well worth the price tag. I foresee bringing customers and friends here in the future.
Food was good but cold. The salmon tasted good but it was warm not hot. Ambience and view were lovely but the constant moving was not pleasant to me. Felt nauseated and almost left. Will recommend to friends but I'll not return. The friends who dined with me did not mind the movement but did not love the food. Service was very pleasant. The overall experience was good but not great. It felt like a good place for tourists.
We had a group of 8 and seated at 2 separate tables, impossible to talk to couples at other table. Food was good not very hot, seemed like a long wait for entre. Waitress made it seem like soup or salad was part of the meal surprised when we received bill. Parking was a joke , we were there just over 3 hours our friends over 4 both validated we were charged 12 dollars our friends 4 dollars what's up with that. Would reccommend for special occasion but that would be all.
