Como's Restaurant

Don't be in a hurry or have theater tickets for afterwards if you plan to eat at Como's on a Saturday night. Spent 10 minutes waiting at our empty table for a waitperson to come by with menus and water, followed by a 35 minute wait for our pizzas.
I’m a foodie who eats gluten free and plant based. I stumbled across Como’s during a search for area restaurants that would accommodate my diet, WOW am I glad I did! I sampled the waffle fries with garlic and rosemary (incredible), 2 different vegan /GF pizzas (phenomenal- the flavors!!! Omg), and the B Nektar Tuco-style freakout mead (light, crisp, and simply perfect). All of these exceeded my expectations, and I cannot wait to return! The ambiance has changed a lot (for the better) since the last time I visited this place in 2009. It is now open, modern, comfortable and inviting. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and the overall experience was great.
Food was great, but the booths were incredibly uncomfortable. The sloped backs made it very hard to sit and in a comfortable position and then if you used a cushion, you were being pushed into the table.
Food and service was amazing
Noisy, service was okay but not great. Food was outstanding.
Salad was fresh and plentiful. Pizza was great. Server was great.
With my kids
Great service!
The service was perfect.
Excellent pizza, as always, Great Caesar salad, and good drinks! It is definitely one of the best Detroit style pizzas in town.
The pizza was amazing as usual, obviously well known for it! A member of my party ordered a dish she didn’t care for and staff was very accommodating and offered to bring her something else. She ended up joining in our pizza and another member took her plate. But the chef came out and asked for honest feedback on how to improve the dish and again offered to make her something else. Great customer service and friendly staff! The drinks are delicious too, and in the summer there is no better patio in all of Ferndale and Royal Oak area.
The pizza was excellent.
We had a great salad.
The service was excellent.
We will go back.
Very good service with a lot of friendly people. Vegan pizza was amazing highly recommend
Best pizza in Detroit!
I did struggle a bit on whether I would recommend to a friend or not. The service (our waitress was Hannah) was awesome and the pizza was good if you are a deep dish pizza lover. The primary reason for the no on recommendation is due to the ridiculously small tables. Even when the manger sat us she said that she knows the table she sat us at is too small. If you get a booth, then you'll be fine. If you have 2 people, or maybe three, you'll be ok. But four people at one of the tables in the center? Forget about it. When the two small pizzas came to our table, I had to move to the corner of an already condensed environment. I actually gave the water back to have more room. So if you are going out with 4 people in your party and you get a booth, enjoy. If you have people and are seated at one of the small tables in the center, well, good luck.
The gluten free pizza is the best around!
Came for Sunday brunch. No Kids menu available. Requested to get a grilled cheese or something similar but we were told it was 11:45 and too early. Had to wait until 3 pm. Had to order a small pizza with cheese in order to try to get a 3 year old to eat something. Should not have been hard to make a grilled cheese. I didnt care what the cost was. No breadstick/ cheese bread on menu. Should be?? Pizza very good. Chicken waffles good also.
Good fun food
My friend from Kentucky loved the experience, the pizza and the meatballs were outstanding as always.
Love the delicious food and service so much... My fave pizza! But the techno music they loudly play at 4pm is just awful! No one could hear one another to have a convo! A nostalgiac place should have nostalgiac music during early dining hours...it was really annoying...
We heard the pizza is good. We didn’t know they are making the Sicilian style pizza ala Cloverleaf and Buddy’s. How cool. We enjoyed a traditional pepperoni, cheese pizza called The Granny. The Bibb and Beet Salad with grapes, corn and roasted walnuts is very good. Food is great. Assuredly worth a visit. I can see us going back. There’s parking in the back and a rear entrance.
Pizza crust is wonderful! Lemon dressing on the salad was tasty. Our server was very attentive.
Great restaurant works really good pizza and drinks. Went with friends Saturday and had a great experience. It was very busy, but service was still great and very fast. Awesome experience, will be back
The food and service are always excellent! It’s one of my favorite restaurants.
Super yummy gluten free pizza and good wine. Great prices and super friendly service
Waitress barely said 2 words.
Bbq ribs had all the taste boiled out of them. Only taste was the bbq sauce which was ok. Wings were barely ok to eat. Burger was very basic burger. Salmon was a small serving.
Everything was over priced.
It's a pizza place, nothing more. I suggest sticking with th he over priced pizza if you end up in this place for whatever reason.
The pizza is very good, however, I think it’s overpriced. $15 for 4 slices is quite a bit.
It’s no Buddy’s. It’s adequate but there are better. For a Zack Sklar place, the setting and food are surprisingly mediocre.
Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The items on the menu I felt were over priced for the type of food being served. Even though the menu is a bit pricey the food was great.
The best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had! The service was excellent and it’s a great menu. I truly appreciate all of the gluten free options. If I lived closer, I’m sure I would eat here on a weekly basis.
The food was amazing! It was a little loud for a date night but the food and the service was great.
Great pizza!
There was a festival so the menu was limited. This was not told to me by hostess or waitress. I was set on ordering the salmon as I reviewed the menu before I went. I was disappointed to see it was not available due to the limited menu. I also had the meatballs and they were cold, like they were recently taken out of the refrigerator. The manager took them off the bill. I love the restaurant and have eaten there before but this time there were some disappointments. I will go back. Love the patio and music and the food has been great when I dined there before.
Como’s pizza is nothing less than outstanding . Crusty edges delicious toppings. Great appetizers . And the key lime pie is great with supper thick graham cracker crust .
1. Asked the server if the meatballs we wanted were spicy. He said flat out, no. Just the opposite - the sauce used on there is chili powder/sauce - the same stuff you would put in a pot of chili. Couldn't eat the meatballs.
2. The drink I ordered had too many other items in it - I've never had a drink with so much ice, cucumber, and basil? with no straw.
3. Pizza (LGBT) had a sauce issue too. Too spicy - but waiter didn't seem to know that.
Lack of basic communication (and someone that can prepare a drink) put a huge damper on our dining experience that night.
Food and service was good, noisy and parking could be a problem.
Music was way too loud and couldn’t even hear each other at one of the small four tops. Food was just okay for the price. Disappointing for a Sklar restaurant.
Music on patio was so loud, had to shout to hear someone across the table. Pizza sauce tasted funky which sucked bc the crust was amazing
Always a great time! Food & service, perfect! Best Pizza!
pizzas got expensive bc each topping was extra. Crust on gluten free pizza was tasty! Brick chicken had good flavor but was more breading than chicken
