Communitea strives to involve a 'community' of people to bring this vision together. Come in for lunch and enjoy our delicious soups, salads and sandwiches along with your tea and sweet treats!
Our visit was very pleasant. The food was delicious from the sandwiches to the scrumptious scones! The tea was hot and wonderful. Only the service was slow but otherwise we had a great visit and will be back
I booked this weeks in advance, received reminders and messages to confirm also, yet when I got there was told “open table has been messing up”, they didn’t have ya on the schedule. Nothing was explained about, food was subpar, parking is basically non existent.
Communitea really is a hidden gem!
Great food, good service, and the BEST scones!
I highly recommend, but I'd make a reservation first.
The Cafe was fantastic and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a friendly tea with family and friends
We enjoyed our high tea very much because of the delicious food and cosy authentic atmosphere. Like stepping back in time.
Our experience at Communitea was mediocre. It was our first time there, but none of the staff explained anything about the cafe to us. I had purchased 3 Group On coupons--one for each of two friends and one for myself. The coupon included a pot of tea and a scone. Our intention was to use the coupons and purchase a small salad or soup or something to our lunches. However, I was immediately told we could not use 3 coupons in one visit at our table. This did not seem to be clear at all in the Groupon ad, nor was it clear on the coupon. My friends suggested that I use the coupon for my lunch--which the "host" seemed ok with, but it defeated the "gifts" for my friends. Service was VERY slow, and the "host" was distant and not very helpful at all. The salad I purchased was supposed to have "candied" walnuts, but the walnuts were simply, walnuts. The salad was not as pictured on the menu, it was smaller. At one point, the host asked who had the "small" salad--we were not aware there were 2 sizes. The room itself was pleasant, relaxing, but we did not feel welcomed and, since none of us was impressed enough to make the 25 min drive to return there, the extra two coupons I purchased will not be used. Sorry, but some warmth from the host would have gone a VERY long way. Unfortunately, I was left feeling like I insulted her by buying 3 coupons and inviting 2 friends to try this new experience. We will look elsewhere for a girls lunch after this.
The idea of this place is very cute. The atmosphere is adorable. And there's really not a whole lot like it in the area. However, the service was abysmal. I said multiple times we had never been to the place and they never explained anything. I ordered high tea which was fine but had to ask multiple questions to understand any part of it. We waited forever to receive our tea. And then about another 30 minutes in between pots because the server kept forgetting. We did receive a $5 discount, but I would not tell somebody to go here oh, because the service was very lackluster and the food was just so-so. I'm glad to say have experience to tea room but that is my take away.
This little cafe is quaint. Very personalized service. Enjoyable meal, great dining experience.
Original reservation was for 2, but unfortunately I was the only one that could make it. At entrance no one greeted me and I had no idea where to go. Once I got someone’s attention (which I think was the owner), she lead me into the eating area and instead of seating me at the table by the window that was available and where she was leading me to, she must have thought that was too nice of a spot for a solo diner, so she asked a couple who was already settled at their table to move to the table by the window. She then continued with a very cold attitude for the rest of the service. She didn’t explain any of the foods brought to the table, like she did for every other person in the room. She also then charged me for 2 afternoon teas when clearly there was only 1 diner. It was a disappointing experience and the food had a stale cover to it, as if it had been prepared and not stored appropriately for the entire day.
Enjoyable experience. We had preordered a gluten free high tea, and everything was delicious including the gluten free scones with authentic clotted cream and scrumptious raspberry jam. My daughter and I had fun picking out our individual tea pots and choosing our teas (decaf). Friendly atmosphere and quaint, but pretty decor and color schemes. I plan to go again.
We had a Great Hight Tea! Food was wonderful! We got to pick our own tea pots to use. The tea was delicious! We also picked hats to wear for pictures! Lots of fun!
Adorable place, great atmosphere! It was fun to pick out your own teapot and even try on the hats for pictures afterward. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We will have to come back for high tea because the 3-tiered plates of goodies looked amazing. A great place for an afternoon with the girls!
A little rude to me about the clotted cream on the scone Didn’t appreciate it. If the tea wasn’t so good I wouldn’t come back
We absolutely love this cute little hidden gem and the Dayton area. Highly recommend
Enjoyed the high tea with a friend. Service was great.
Food and ambiance were good, but it was slow. They were short handed.
Communitea is a truly delightful experience. The ambiance is as unique and creative as the delicious food. Any age group can expect a fun and exceptional "tea time". I've had lunch and tea with friends, family and granddaughters and enjoyed every minute, from picking our teapot to biting into a delicious scone, heaped with clotted cream and lemon sauce. I've had multiple items from the menu and was delighted with the flavor and presentation of each. Soup, salads, sandwiches are all yummy. The desserts are exceptional. The staff members are helpful, couteous, efficient and create a feeling of a" family" meal. I look forward, withexcitment, to my next visit.
Family was in town and wanted the to experience Communitea Cafe. The Cafe offers friendly, slow-paced ambiance. Nicely decorated with Dayton memoriablia and tea related items. We picked out hats & boas (provided) and had our picture(s) taken within a frame. Very cute idea.
Owner is very friendly and answered our multiple questions. Getting our food from ordering to table could have been quicker, but then again we were not in a hurry.
All food and drinks were delicious!
My biggest complaint was the room smelled moldy. The experience was nice and food was good. The service and tea were excellent.
this place was referred to me by a co-worker at the Dayton VA Medical Center where I work in Nursing Service. this was a very special event because my mother was here and my daughter just moved here from California and I had not seen my daughter for 7 months and this was a special early Mother's Day event for the 3 of us. the staff were most cordial and accommodating. will be back on a frequent basis with my daughter Lauren. Thank you for making it special!
Very charming. Never felt rushed. Excellent service. Wonderful high tea shared with a friend for her birthday. She loved it. Want to try ordering from the menu next time! Just a lovely place.
It’s a very girly place. So welcoming but no one was welcoming us as we walked in. We were a little confused because no one was at the door/there was no sign telling us to wait or to sit. We wondered around until we found someone. Over the food was good and so was the tea! We had a wonderful afternoon there. Probably won’t go back unless I bring kids with me/us.
Love Communitea! Charming setting and delicious food!
Just Awesome! Service was up and beyond
Wonderful food and adorable atmosphere. Great value at a fun and unique, Dayton original restaurant.
Felt the atmosphere could be cozied up a bit but with that said was a bitterly cold day and when the front door opened, brrrrrrr! Food was good to very good. The scone cake was very good but unlike a typical scone. Skimpy on the clotted cream and the scone cake was small for 4 people. Would rather have had more of that and less of the variety on the top tray. The little sandwiches were very good as was the tea!
Had a really great time. The ambiance was wonderful. Only one suggestion if you care, I have celiacs and require gluten free options. Gluten free bread always tends to be super dry. What I do at home for sandwiches is that I toast the bread. It makes it way yummier. Just a suggestion.
I took my two little grandgirls for their birthday tea and they just loved it.
I went with a dear friend. We try to find, new and interesting places to meet. We loved Communitea! Food was delicious! We ordered off the menu because I didn’t know enough about High Tea to make that decision for us. We will definitely go back for that! Staff was great.
We’ll both be advertising for Communitea Cafe.
The high tea was fantastic - tasty, well presented and filling. All the food was delicious. The place was busy but not too noisy and we had a great time.
The atmosphere was great. The bread was hard, crackers were stale, pretzel were soft.
Great atmosphere and wonderful tea and scones! So much fun to pick out your own tea pot too. Can't wait to have a group high tea!
The high tea is so much fun, and the food is delicious! The service could be improved though. I called beforehand, and the person who answered just said "hello" and didn't even mention the name of the café. I wondered if I had accidentally dialed someone's personal phone, but it did end up being the right number. Once we got there, the servers were friendly and cheerful, but no one ever took my credit card so I could pay, so I eventually just walked across the restaurant and took it to a server to process so we could leave. Overall, this is a great place and a great experience and while the service could be a more professional, I'd still recommend this high tea to anyone!
Communitea Cafe is lovely and quaint! The servers were friendly, the food was delicious, and the tea was delightful. We had High Tea and the sweets and savories were wonderful. My favorite part of the meal in addition to the tea was the scones served at the end. I recommend this for a girls day out or special occasion.
I was disappointed because i had took my granddaughter for her 6th birthday an I had ordered the platter for the 24 hour notice an first the sandwiches were kinda dried out but i thought that my granddaughter got the peanut an jelly for kids platter. She only ate the fruit. For a day for that price was not what I had expected. I had to stop after an get her something else😳
