Great new brunch menu. The Scotch egg and the fried oyster dishes were excellent.
Great service and bloody marys
Wasn't impressed with the preparation of dishes I had ordered. The Escargot in marrow butter served inside a bone was a little over the top. Couldn't taste the escargot and was greasy.
The rabbit prep was good as was the presentation. Not a fan of the smoked taste with this dish. Would have enjoyed much better if was just fried without all the :"extra" Had no idea what to do with the sauces served with it.
I had the chicken skin sandwich, Delish!!!! Met a friend for lunch. She had chicken salad, very good. Nice atmosphere. This fall they will have a rooftop deck open...
Our first time dining on the roof top patio. A very pleasant atmosphere . Wednesday is fried chicken night. Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, collard greens, and corn bread. It was all delicious. Be sure and ask for the house made hot sauce!
Attentive, but not overbearing service. My wife had the rabbit, which she found tender and enjoyed tremendously. I had the squid ink pasta with clams, mussels and shrimp. This dish was prepared superbly. It had a reduction on it that gave it an interesting flavor that made you want to keep having another taste. The shrimp were perfect.
This was our first visit and we'll definitely be back.
They also brought us a complimentary piece of honey pie with ice cream to share, because they thought we had to wait too long for our food. Not necessary at all, but the pie was terrific as well. We enjoyed every bite and we are not usually dessert eaters.
My wife and I decided to go here on a date and the entire experience was absolutely outstanding. Our server, Isaac, was very well-versed in the menu and the offerings of the restaurant. We came in not being experienced with fine dining, and Isaac took very good care of us. The food is absolutely amazing. Worth every cent.
Overall experience was excellent. The food selections are different but each one we ordered was more than we expected. The salads were perfect and I came for the first time because of the recommendation of a friend for the lamb osso buco and it was done perfectly. The only negative is parking. We were lucky to find a place right in front on the street, which is the only place (that I know of) where you can park. Don't let that dissuade you from enjoying some of the best food in the tri-state, bar none!
It was fantastic...one of our new favorite restaurants!
One of the best meals I've had from start to finish. The biscuts with homemade jam rival that of any country grandma. The hanger steak was cooked to perfection with the fries and homemade aioli and homemade ketchup were the perfect accompaniment. The salted honey pie with buttermilk icecream was the perfect finish to an amazing meal.
Add in the amazing staff who take such care to make sure everyone is happy and you can't go wrong with a meal at Commonwealth!!
Biscuits were outstanding. Rabbit was well cooked but very under-seasoned. No hint of salt or pepper in the crust or the meat itself. Necessitated using the sauce with every bite unfortunately. The sides were delicious.
Top notch service, gorgeous architecture and decor, fantastic flavor combinations made from local favorites. Feels upscale in your mouth while achieving a perfectly casual vibe. Get a creative cocktail (or two) and gorge on a variety of satisfying small plates. The gnocchi and biscuits are not to be missed!
Went with 6 people and had a nice time; Food quality was excellent and was very fresh! I wasn't expecting the type of biscuits they had but would much rather have preferred the old fashioned kind. It's just a preference.
I would definitely go back.
Outstanding restaurant and experience. Wednesday night is fried chicken night, and you're missing out if you don't order it. Gourmet comfort food.
Reunited with some old friends at Commonwealth and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Great drinks at the bar prior to dining, wonderful wait staff and a menu refreshingly different than most restaurants in the area. Hats off to the chef and all involved with Commonwealth. Thanks for your investment in Main Strasse, Covington.
Excellent service, unique local food, and great atmosphere. I had the fried rabbit and will be returning to have the chicken & dumplings next since the biscuit that came with my rabbit was the best I have had at a restaurant.
Memorable dining experience! Food you can't find anywhere else, excellent service (especially Chris), great specialty cocktails, warm atmosphere. They made our group of five feel like VIP's. Spread the word to Cincinnati foodies - a real gem.
The food was delicious! We had a group of four...Two of us ordered the special (the cherry BBQ sauce was great with a little kick!), one ordered the steak frites and one ordered the chicken... All fantastic! We also ordered the pie with buttermilk ice cream and the chocolate spice torte... Both desserts were fantastic, as well. The decor is comfortable, with just the right amount of rustic. The leaded glass looking into the kitchen is awesome.
It was a little loud, but not so loud that you couldn't talk to everyone at the table.
It was too cool to sit out side, but we'll be back to enjoy the patio and to try out the brunch menu!
Excellent food. Great service. Local gem. If you have not already tried Commonwealth Bistro, book it today.
One of the best dinners we've had in Cincinnati. Definitely recommend the house specials; though you cannot go wrong with the biscuits or gnocchi.
A great spot in Covington. If you are looking for great food, definitely worthwhile to check it out.
Overall, we really enjoyed our brunch! The quiche was tasty, service friendly (for took a while to come out & it was not super bust yet), my husband loved the burger/fries, Bloody Mary was spicy/delicious & draft beer list interesting. There was one disappointment based on past experiences dining there. The hash browns used to be CRAVABLE... the best. This time, they were not only super greasy, they tasted like meat/pork. I couldn't eat them (my husband did but gave a thumbs down). Perhaps it was a fluke. I hope the kitchen keeps the hash browns away from the pork products on the grill down the road... took away the "magic" & being a non pork eater = turn off.
Great and interesting food options. Excellent service. Unique and enjoyable.
The food was very good. Staff was also very good and attentive. I realize that your
restaurant is quite small but the noise level was out of control. Please do something
to control the sound so that diners can speak across the table without yelling at each

What a great find right off Mainstrasse! Inventive menu - rabbit! Great wine list. Knowledgable servers. Interesting craft cocktails.
Had a lovely brunch right at 10am on a Sunday. Plenty of tasty options from a mile high savory quiche to a creative spin on biscuits and gravy. Friendly, unobtrusive service and bright, cheerful decor.
First time at Commonwealth Bistro, great location in the heart of MainStrasse. Service was outstanding and the menu was very different--not your typical dinner out, but we found something for everyone. They make a very different style of comfort biscuit that is lovely with salads and "green" dishes. The honey pie with ice cream was yummy! Great place, will definitely go back.
Love Commonwealth! Def recommend this restaurant. This was our second time there. The only improvement would be for them to add a chocolate dessert to the menu. :-)
Common Wealth Bistro was fantastic! My mother and I had dinner here before attending the opera. The food was delicious -- both my mother and I had the Rabbit which was delicious: it had a great crunchy breading on it, and did not have a gamey flavor. It was served with this delicious sauce (on the side), collard greens, and a homemade biscuit. All were very yummy. Reasonably priced entrees and drinks. Nice atmosphere, and great service. Server was very honest and knowledgeable about menu items. It was pretty quiet when we arrived at 545P. 10/10 will go again.
Why wasn't this terrific place packed?! I mean, lines all the way to Dayton and a 3 month wait for a reservation?
This is fine food, beautifully considered and prepared. There is no silly here, but it is a mouth party without the hangover.
Thank you, Commonwealth for restoring my faith in American cooking.
P.S. Be brave... have the smelt.
While I like Commonwealth, I am disappointed in the summer menu. The Kentucky bibb lettuce salad is going and it should be a staple. The new drinks are fun but loosing the bibb and the shrimp while keeping a cold weather pork shank was a shame. Looking forward to their next change.
The good news -- the summer drink Strawberry-Cucumber Smash was a smash with us. So refreshing. Things went downhill from there. The waiter was pushing a lamb belly BLT and it sounded yummy. When it came, it was on slices of focaccia so thick it completely overwhelmed the belly (so salty!), greens and marmalade filling. Both of us had to take the bread away and eat the 'sandwich' as a salad.
When we told the waiter the bread should be changed he told us -- and this kills me -- (paraphrasing) "The bread we normally serve it on is 16 Bricks (a favorite!) (and clearly the correct choice) but we ran out so the chef used this." SERIOUSLY??? This is how they treat customers? The better choice would have been to pull the sandwich from the menu until the appropriate bread was available again. We felt cheated, and we won't be back.
This was a great find! My husband and I split 2 of the small bites, and then an entree. Our food was delicious and unique. I'd be interested to go back again during a different season to see how the menu changes. Our server was extremely attentive without hovering. The atmosphere is great - it feels very casual and yet elegant with the quality of the food you're eating.
Excellent experience and awesome food. Service was excellent
The good: The service was outstanding. The servers were very personable and attentive. Well done. The fried green tomatoes were excellent and the ambience was great. Super cool space.
The bad: The food was very mediocre. With such a unique menu, we expected it to be outstanding. It wasn't. The chicken dish had almost no flavor. Even the desserts were just ok. We expected much more out of this place.
The staff were friendly and we definitely enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere. It was extremely pricey though. The portions were small but the cost was not! Even though we enjoyed the local unique food we probably won't return just because of the cost.
Great food and staff. The restaurant was too noisy however which made table conversation difficult.
Great service and atmosphere! We were disappointed with the food! Would definitely go for drinks on the porch but that's about all!
The muscles are fabulous. We had them as an appetizer for the table and they were more than enough for the four of us. I had the steak frites entre and would recommend it. The steak was great and the frites were even better.
Food was delicious and server was ABSOLUTELY excellent. Will definitely be coming back
Food and Service were both great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend with the caveat that parking was a bit of an issue.
