Hi John, Thank you so much for your review and feedback, We hear you and will be expanding our menu with new tasty additions from Chef Alex as soon as next week. Keep an eye on our social media for the latest updates. Gratefully, KJ
Food was amazing as I expected from Alex! I was craving a burger it was fabulous! Our table had several apps, all great and the shrimp with homemade pasta! Will be back for food and an espresso martini!
Our first visit to The Commons Club. The restaurant, adjoing bar area and the hotel itself have great decor and a really good vibe, The wait staff were great and very attentive. The menu was a big disappointment - only 4 entree choices and no fish offering - in New Orleans? Really? The appetizer choices were equally limited.
The restaurant said the limited menu was because of supply shortages due to Hurricane IDA. Other dining establishments we visit are able to offer much more selection. For appetizers we had the mushroom fritters which were OK but had no mushroom flavor. One of our party skipped the entree due to the limited offering. 2 of us chose the smash burger which was good. Dessert choices were 2 items. Bottom line is we enjoyed the vibe and decor but the food and menu need to step up to match the surroundings. If and when they do we will revisit.

Great! Food was excellent.
Cheers! Thank you for joining us.
My second time in a week. The menu would be better with a few more (more than the current 4) entrees
Hi Mark, Thank you so much for your continued support! We hear you and will be expanding our menu with new tasty additions from Chef Alex as soon as next week. Keep an eye on our social media for the latest updates. Gratefully, KJ
Today was their first brunch service. The food was excellent. The atmosphere is fun, though a bit loud (amplified live music). Bloody marys were not good but the cocktails we had at the rooftop bar were delicious. We'll be back.
Hi there, Thank you for joining us for our first brunch service this past weekend! We appreciate your feedback and will share with the appropriate teams as we continue to improve.
First brunch at commons club and loved it ! Drinks and food were amazing. The atmosphere was fun look forward to many more brunches
Hi there, Thank you for joining us for our first brunch service this past weekend! We appreciate your feedback, and look forward to seeing you again soon for another delicious brunch.
Luckily we were able to attend their first Brunch. Food, Service and Ambiance were all amazing. Band was a great touch too
Hi there, Thank you for joining us for our first brunch service this past weekend! We appreciate your feedback, and hope to see you back again soon for another delicious meal.
Service was great
Cocktails were great
Looking forward to returning
Meal was uneventful...limited menu and not representative of New Orleans flavors or seasonings. Great service, drinks and atmosphere.
Hi there, Thank you for your review and feedback. We hear you, and will be updating our menu with new additions as early as next week. Our menu crafted by Chef Alex is a blend of contemporary American cuisine with a Southern sensibility, and we believe these new dishes will reflect that. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us with your feedback, and I hope that you will give us a second chance in the future to make up for your last visit. Gratefully, KJ
Delicious food with superb flavor.
Used to be a fan of chef Harrell when he was at Sylvain and Angeline less so at Peter and Paul. Place had a nice vibe. Started out with a very nice grilled okra with harissa while enjoying our cocktails. Corn/crab soup and mushroom fritters were quite nice. Dinner went downhill big time after that. I ordered chicken confit and it came out “naked”. One of the attractions of a duck or chicken confit is the crispy skin. This confit came out skinless and pale like the color of poached chicken. Very disappointing. My wife had the steak frites. Steak was good but the fries were to come with garlic aioli. What came out was a commercial mayonnaise and not a very good one at that. Was not handmade, was not aioli and had no garlic. My wife had to kick it up by asking for some extra salsa verde to put in it. Lastly the wine list has to be one of the worst for an upscale restaurant in town. Limited selection, fairly pedestrian from mainly obscure producers and mark up is 3-4 times retail. Caveat emptor. As much as we would like to support the chef, we won’t be back.
We are still in post-hurricane recovery, so the menu had half the normal number of selections, offering only one salad, three “snacks” and four entrees. But the staff went out of their way to be accommodating, and the few dishes (charred okra & roasted mushroom fritters) that we tried were beautifully executed and delish! The lounge has the hip vibe you expect from a Virgin hotel while still feeling welcoming. This was my third visit, and I’ll definitely be back.
Took a leap on a new NOLA restaurant with excellent ratings. I'm very glad we did as this restaurant, while only 6 weeks old and recovering from IDA, is making very serious food. Their cocktails are quite good as well. Only minor knock was that the menu was quite limited, but this is highly understandable in light of supply issues after Ida. My wife had the shrimp pappardelle which was crazy good with a sauce that had a depth of flavor not encountered in most restaurants, while I had the wagyu smash burger, which was tremendous. It's also worth commenting that whoever did the design of this hotel, the restaurant and the rooftop bar did an amazing job as it is a truly beautiful place and we are NYC and international foodie types. Can't wait to see what they can do in the future with no supply issues and an expanded menu. Bravo :)
The service was the best. The food was tasty. The Virgin Hotel is a new and exciting place for New Orleans social scene.
The music and service was spot on! We will definitely be back! Thank you
Local girls just wanted to try new spot. Great place! Really fun atmosphere and a great vibe. The service was great. Everyone so nice and fun but man the food was just blah .. menu had 8 things on it. Such a let down honestly we had another drink and left after starters (which were not very good)
Hi there, Thank you for visiting us and enjoying our lively atmosphere and selections from Chef Alex. Unfortunately, our team is still running on a limited menu post Hurricane Ida, but we appreciate the feedback and hope that you are able to return in the future as things continue to return back to normal. Cheers - KJ
Truly a wonderful experience! From our greeting as we entered The Virgin Hotels’ lobby for a quick proof of vaccination to checking in at the Commons Club for dinner to a night cap on the 13th Floors Rooftop Bar. All in the details…we will be back for sure!!! Great energy throughout the hotel!!!
Hi Jeanne, Thank you for the 5-star review! We appreciate your support, and hope to see you back again soon.
Elegant style, awesome food, great service, couldn't have been better.
It was wonderful
A beautiful space perfect for a girls dinner. Our server was very attentive but also allowed us to take our time ordering at our own pace so we could catch up. We shared appetizers, including the fritters, okra, and salad and all were delicious and portions generous enough for 4 women to share. The shrimp pappardelle looked amazing and got rave reviews from my girlfriends, the chicken confit itself was delicious- I would have liked more gnocchi with the dish. Will be back for sure!
Awesome service and food even with a limited menu after Hurricane Ida!
Excellent experience our server Sterling was delightful! The secret garden room was a nice space for our group. Highly recommend!
Absolutely stunning, Chic and FUN! Can’t wait to go back
Hi Mandy, Thank you for your 5-star review! Our team can't wait to welcome you back again soon.
Beautiful setting. Limited menu due to Hurricane Ida but everything was delicious.
Hi Lester, Thank you for your 5-star review! We appreciate your support, and hope you're able to return again soon for another memorable dining experience. Cheers, KJ
The food and service were both outstanding which is amazing considering the hotel and restaurant have been open for less than two weeks. My server Sterling, was truly outstanding, he was attentive and fun! As good as this was, I think it will be truly outstanding after then get up and running.
Service was wonderful. Not too impressed with the menu. Limited. Burger was good but small for the price I paid. Oysters were delicious. Will go again, for sure.
We definitely should have waited a few more weeks for the staff and the kitchen to figure out how to serve people. This dinner was a mess from the start and got progressively worse. Our entrees arrived and we had no silverware- i asked four staff to help and thry couldn’t find any forks for quite some time as our meals grew cold
Drink orders were totally wrong and more than one dish was almost inedible. Not sure if we will ever return
Hi Kathy, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I see that you did dine with us a few days after opening, and appreciate your support in visiting us. I greatly apologize for the mishaps you have noted here, but please know this visit is not representative of a true dining experience at CC. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any additional feedback regarding the dishes or drink orders mentioned here so that we can continue to improve.
Remember it’s there first week BUT The food was mediocre at best. All 16 of us were disappointed. One even sent her meal back.
The potato croquettes were potato balls on French’s mustard. The oysters were not the best- the sauce was not to our liking. The burger was nothing to write home about. The snapper and shrimp were oddly paired with beans which many did not like.
The drinks were tasty.
The rooftop is lovely but even with 3 serving behind the bar, it was difficult to even pay.
They would not allow us to have 2 tables of 8(unless we agreed to a set menu and a minimum amount) so we made 4 reservations of 4 at separate tables even though there seemed to be several areas that could have accommodated all of us together.
Definitely not the best experience.
On the other hand Four Seasons was excellent their first day!
Hi Meaux, thank you for dining with us during our first week open. We’re so terribly sorry that your experience wasn’t amazing. Since our reopening following Hurricane Ida, Chef Alex has revamped our menu with some new tasty additions. We thank you for your review, and hope you're able to return in the future to explore our menu further. Best, KJ
Chef Alex brings the heat every time. Good cocktails. Great food. Cool vibes.
Food was amazing! Service was on point and ambience was perfect.
Hi Phillip, Thank you for dining with us! We appreciate your review, and hope to see you back again soon. Cheers, KJ
Service and food was amazing. The vibe was just a terrific! Highly recommend for any occasion.
Hi there, thank you for the awesome review! We hope to see you back again soon!
Slow service! Took us 30 minutes to get a drink. Staffing issues apparently!
Hi Kat, Thank you for sharing your review with us. With our first week open under our belts, the team is working quickly to meet demand, and I apologize your experience was less than amazing. We hope you're able to visit to make up for this visit, and look forward to seeing you again soon. Cheers, KJ
Chef Alex, is pushing the New Orleans culinary boundaries beyond the ordinary to the stratosphere……
Hi Rich, Thanks so much for the great review. We are thrilled to hear you're a fan of Chef Alex's work, and will be sure to pass your compliments along to the Chef! Cheers, KJ
The server was so sweet. The quickness was terribly slow. You won’t survive in this town if it takes nearly 3 hours and most everything we ordered was raw and cocktails.
The bar was so slow. The food was just ok. The food was never hot when it took forever to get. The flavors just ok. A lot of it was bland.
I chalk it up to being new. But you guys have to step your game up big time.
I'd wait until they can properly staff for the amount of guests they take reservations for. Food lacked any flavor. Best thing was my cocktail. Great ambiance and vibe. Again I would hold off for a few months until they can settle out service issues and food quality. Every staff member was super courteous, friendly and welcoming.
Hi there, Thank you for sharing your review with us. With our first week open under our belts, the team is working quickly to meet demand, and I apologize your experience was less than amazing. Our menu is seasonal and will be changing frequently with special selections from Chef Alex, but I have shared your feedback regarding the dishes listed here with the Culinary team so that the team can continue to improve and revise our menu. Take care, Kelsey
First time dinner at the Commons Club restaurant with the recent opening of the Virgin Hotel. Truth be told, I was expecting the usual kinks that need to be worked out that happens with any new restaurant opening. However, we were very pleasantly surprised with our experience. The entrees were outstanding, the ambiance and vibe was spectacular and the Commons Club is a welcome new addition to a very good but crowded NOLA restaurant scene. Extra bonus that the overall hotel environs were beautifully appointed and fun. Great night and we will surely be back for many more fun evenings at the Commons Club/Virgin Hotel.
Hi there, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We are grateful to hear that you fully enjoyed your dining visit, and we hope to see you back again soon at The Commons Club. Take care, KJ
The food is incredible. Wish I had another stomach so I could have tried everything! This is already logged into my go to restaurants! A must try!!!
Thanks so much for your support during our first week open! The team greatly appreciates the high praise, and we look forward to enjoying another delicious meal together. Cheers, KJ
Conflicted, it was 2nd day of opening; food came out entrees first, appetizers 2nd, cocktails last.
Wagyu burger is a double patty smash burger, which is a dubious choice if your pitch is using high quality beef. It was ok somewhat small, the potato roll was too dense for the burger, aioli and fries were spot on.
Steak tartare (apparently I have a ground beef problem) , was good. The bread was a bit soggy suggesting maybe it was sitting around for a bit, the meat is premixed with sauce and was good (peche) is same style but better.
Cocktail: dragon something? Was very good.
Dessert was panna cotta and was the best part of the meal.
Lots of potential but some odd choices of materials for the burger and assembly for both. 3.5 stars for food and value. Our waiter was good, but the order and timing of food and drinks was not. I’d probably try it again after it’s been open for a bit
Hi there, thank you so much for sharing your review with us. I have passed along your comments to our Culinary Team so that we can continue to improve. Firsthand feedback and suggestions from guests such as yourself is key, and we look forward to perfecting our delicious food & cocktail selections. We thank you for your review, and hope you're able to return in the future to explore our menu further. Best, KJ
Very chic, designed well, mix of designs for each room. Music was good selection but crazy loud as if it were a nightclub. Didn't fit the dining room design. Service was quick and attentive. Friendly staff and efficient. 3 of our 4 dishes were great. The burger was burnt and the potato bun was too dry and heavy. Farro salad was good and rice pudding was stellar. Cocktails were good. Bar was fairly busy and will be slow when it gets really busy. Bad bar design. Friendly barback.
Lots of personal service upon entering and leaving. I'd definitely go again.
Hi SueChef, thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. We will definitely share your comments with the team as we continue to improve after our first week open, and hope to see you back again soon. Best, KJ
