Commoner & Co.
with classic influences, changing our menu seasonally to bring the freshest ingredients at all times. We also offer a full bar, around 10 beers on tap, and a wine list of 20 wines by the glass to be sure every
guest finds exactly what they're looking for.
Our experience was mixed...the food was very good and very fairly priced, but we were seated in the bar because of a VERY large group in the dining room and the noise level was much too high. Also, I think because of the group, the service was a little bit distracted and slow. The manager did, however, apologize for the situation and generously reduced our check in response, so we feel that that they have earned another chance and will go back.
I wouldn’t tell someone not to go, I just wouldn’t highly recommend. A $15 cheeseburger should taste way better than In & Out...mine didn’t.
The dirty martini was spoiled by a weird tasting sour pickle. Grilled romaine was the highlight of the meal. The rest, just meh...
We had a res had to wait 15 min—no problem, got a drink at the bar! Got our table and had 2 complimentary appe’a because we had to wait !
Our server very hospitable and knowledgeable of menu!!
The entrees we ordered we're great; salmon with risotto and paella. However, those of us who ordered appetizers and small plates.were disappointed. The Mac n cheese was not cheesey enough and pasta was too firm. The gnocci was bland and the cheese tart tasted like a sweet blintz; more like a dessert than a prelude to a meal. The service was excellent and overall we enjoyed our time at this restaurant.
Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal.
We had the empanadas (excellent), shrimp cocktail(excellent), kale salad (excellent) and the chorizo mac & cheese (awful). The noodles in the mac & cheese were tough and rubbery...had they been reheated too much or were they just store bought? We each took a couple bites and couldn't eat anymore of it. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. The ambiance felt energetic and pleasing on a rainy day.
Service was cordial and prompt. Food was delicious and beautifully presented.
Our waiter was outstanding. Less stars because:
Menus need to be reprinted. They are paper and a fresh menu makes you feel they are paying attention to cleanliness and detail
Ripped cushions that need repair
Goat cheese tart good
Mussels fresh and cooked perfectly
Bucatini and meatballs spicy and good
Pork scallopini over cooked and dry
Great service, good food over all.
Three years ago we started coming to Commner because it was close to where we stayed in Tucson. We continue to enjoy the restaurant for its simplicity and local sourcing. Not a big menu, but every item is prepared and served with elegance. Great bar as well. It is now a must on our visits to Tucson.
Everything was delicious, the waitstaff was friendly and very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food! The service was quick and everything came out steaming hot! It was absolutely delicious!
Great food, but restaurant is very loud
Disappointed... food was overcooked, over- salted, thoughtfully prepared.
Won't be going back.
Outstanding food. As a food snob from San Francisco, I have to say this food is comparable to any Bay Area restaurant. Kudos to Chef Wooters and thank you to Manager Jeremy who always goes the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect.
I had the braised beef this time and it was KILLER!!
What is up the T.V. screens in Tucson???? Otherwise a lovely place for dinner.
What a lovely gem of a surprise for us hiding up in the Catalina Foothills. Service was great, food and beer were delicious. It was a little on the loud side. We were lucky to be in the back corner which made it tolerable.
Food was delicious, server was exceptional! He was so happy to listen to my drink desires and recommended one of the House favorites.
Was entertaining out of town guests and they were impressed with everything! Location is good, parking more than adequate, friendly prompt service, creative cocktail list, delicious salads and entrees, fun + lively + clean environment. The server was especially friendly and attentive! Made my guests feel welcome. Loved being able to use OpenTable to make the reservation (FYI dinner reservations for 2nd night out which were made online with a DIFFERENT service company were never recorded with the establishment even though I had an email confirmation.) Thank you Commoner & Co and OpenTable!
Lots of choices on a small menu was nice. Wish there had been better preparation on sone of the vegetables sides. A few missed details, but nice place in Tucson which is trying hard.
Great location, atmosphere, food and cocktails. The salmon with mushroom risotto was delicious. Try the Vindicated Cab as well.
Great Happy Hour!
Loud boisterous group around the table next to us. They were having a good time. We left earlier than we cared to because of their noise.
It’s wonderful having a quality restaurant like Commoner in our neighborhood.
Excellent service, good food, a bit noisy. We'd go back. I might ask for a table further from the kitchen next time. There was no one in the main seating area (very early dinner) but they gave us a table closest to the kitchen. I'll never understand why restaurants don't save the worst tables for last rather than start at the least desirable table.
We had not been to Commoner in a while and were delighted with our meal and service! We have now enjoyed dining there twice in a week! Bravo!
Commoner & Co has delicious food and always has great service. I have always had a pleasant experience here and will be back.
Everything was wonderful, again. We’ve dined there 2-3 times before and this time was great still. It was a cold, wet night so the restaurant was not as busy as usual. Pork scallopini was our choice with a choice of house white. My husband had pecan tart for dessert which he thoroughly enjoyed. This has become a regular when visiting Tucson and will continue to be on our list of favorites.
We went to Commoner & Co. for a special wine dinner. The food was amazing, and the wine-pairings were perfect. Typical of what we have come to expect from this restaurant!
Innovative American food menu with tasty options. Particularly enjoyed the mussels and fries.
You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! The goat cheese tart was wonderful. Will definitely go back, soon!
I just love this restaurant! We have gone for both special occasions and date nights, and it never disappoints! We try to order something different each time, because everything is so amazing. The pork empanadas are my favorite for a starter. The pastry is so light, and the filling is delicious! The staff is always on point with anything we need, and goes out of their way to notice the small details. Can't wait until our next date night!
The food and service were fantastic! We really enjoyed the atmosphere of Commernor & Co.
Our server was very prompt and professional, we really enjoyed our time here!
The waiters had no personality and along with the loud surroundings, everything seemed cold, detached, hard, unwelcoming. The food was average and unremarkable. We expected so much more and will not be back. So sad with so much high expectations. The one dark Porter beer was good, but that's hard to ruin.
I thought it was lovely. It ambiance was beautiful and even though it was a holiday it didnt seem like the employees were going crazy. The service was on point, did not miss a beat. The only reason I put a 4 star is because I was excited about the pop up oyster bar they were going to have and the oysters did not look good. Besides that I recommend a friend to go the next day when they were looking for a dinner date.
We had a group of couples. It was perfect! Commoner knows how to do it right!
Waited half an hour and never got a server come to our table. We left without being even being served water
We had their special Valentine's dinner this time, and it was very good. I would have liked to see some sort of green salad on the starters list, but what we had was delicious. The NY steak had a couple of tough bites, but it was cooked exactly as we asked, and very flavorful. The dessert cake was excellent.
Imaginative, varied, and fresh food choices. Nice setting, great service. Neighborhood gem. They go out of their way to be accommodating.
Great cocktails. Great food. Great service
What else could one want in a casual atmosphere?
Our first visit to Commoner was for their Sunday Brunch: who can resist carbonara for breakfast? Certainly not my husband, and he devoured his deliciously steaming hot bowl of bacon-y pasta with poached egg, pausing only for a few yum's and sips of his mimosa. I enjoyed my chilequiles which, gringa that I am, had the sauce on the side.... as our server advised, it was not TOO hot but did provide plenty of heat as far as my tender palate goes... I just wish the plentiful pork carnitas had been somewhat warmer... on this chilly Sunday morning, a hotter temperature would have made it a bit more special... The topper to our scumptious meal was sharing a snickerdoodle scone - huge, fresh, crunchy on the outside, and plenty of cinnamon sugar goodness to go around... we're already looking forward to our next visit.
