The kitchen got backed up so we were waiting a while for our food. These things happen and our waitress took a few things off the bill and promised if we came back it would not happen again. Very pleased with the service.
Great service, friendly and fast! Food was really good and a great value. 2 hours validated parking is a plus
Service was great, drinks were fantastic and the food was delicious. Commerson is a hidden gem.
We celebrated my win for an independent spirit award!
We liked it so much, we came back after our show for a second cocktail. David and Stephan were fantastic!
It’s a reliable restaurant. You can almost always get a table and the restaurant is clean and well kept. The service is very standard as is the food.
Excellent service!
The staff was friendly, but the service was slow and inconsistent. We had three different people wait on us throughout the evening without any real handoff.
Overall, food was really good, though we sent the miso salmon back due to the broth tasting like cleaning solution. The manager, Rachel, was friendly and accommodating and took this off the bill. We heard the table nearest us send a dish back as well (the burger), so maybe it was a bad night in the back.
With the offerings in the LA food scene, I’d skip Commerson.
1st time here. Very tasty food. For a birthday party and everyone was pleased with their dishes.
Pre-fixe for NYE was great with super affordable pricing. S'mores dessert dish was FANTASTIC!
Great service and we loved the food! Fun and welcoming place to have brunch mimosas with friends!
Too noisy. Some strategically placed fabric could absorb most of it.
Excellent food and plenty of it.
Great server
At first I thought this was going to be one of those restaurants that caters to the 25+ crowd with interesting drinks, but nothing going on with the food. But, I and my party of 50+ folks were pleasantly surprised with the fantastic drinks (shout out to David!) and the GREAT food. We had the Brussel sprouts and the french onion soup which were both absolutely delicious. Then, there was the comfort food - short ribs and mashed potatoes w/veggies. The short rib was 12 oz of all meat (no bone) and was so tender you didn't even need a fork to cut it. Finally, we topped off the meal with the brownie s'more which melted in your mouth! All in all, this was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Parking was easy and they validated in the garage behind the restaurant.
We had a nice meal. There was no decaf coffee of any type which was surprising and disappointing. Service was excellent.
Nice neighborhood place, creative drinks and ok food. The more negative factor was the service. We were there on a Sunday evening and they had a good crowd....but only two wait staff and a manager who was doing her best to fill in everywhere. So service was very slow! Hard to order things and then the wait to get them was long. Making things worse was that our waiter was obviously new and not trained very well. A plus was that the busboy was excellent! He was everywhere: bringing food, backing up the bartender and clearing plates. The happy hour menu is a deal so we will probably try it one more time and hope that they've worked out the staffing levels.
Food was so-so -- not much flavor; too much sugar in vegetables. Bland. Room is tuned to a loud din even with few customers. Very friendly and knowledgeable service, but overall not a good value. Might be ok since it's nearby but the price point simply isn't justified by the food or the setting.
Pretty cute place. Staff was nice. Octopus is tough and overdone. But the best usable were to die for. We didn’t eat much, just a Glass if wine and two apps. Definitely not a warm and cozy place...more industrial eats sort place. Doesn’t make you want to stay and linger but an overall
Nice place for a bite to eat.
It was lovely!
We thought the noise level was pretty high; the ambience lacking; and the service very slow. We also thought the food was very good, and fairly priced.
nice place. down to earth. yummy. chill. good for every day meal!
Service was very good, timely and professional. A little noisy but service makes up for it
Mediocre food. Poor service.
Waitress was terrible! She took 15+ minutes to get our drinks, then forgot to put our order in, then gave some of our items to another table, we had to ask 3 times to other staff members where they were, and wait even longer for those. Just overall terrible service.
Food was great, service slow
Would go back. But it was very noisy and the place was half full. Waitress could not hear my order.
Great happy hour menu!
Extremely Slow service, very loud, mediocre food
Disappointing! We’ve been going since Commerson opened. Hamburger meh, margarita bad, service very meh, noisy and won’t return again.
We continue to love this place. From the great food options, to the very friendly management and team, it's a great experience overall.
Thank you Joe for your kind words and continued support!
Really poor service. They don’t have the basic service mentality. The server pretty much disappeared after bringing out the main meal. My water glass was empty for at least 15 minutes and I had to get the water from a busboy instead. The server was too lazy to put the dish in front of the right guest. Instead, she left it in front of me and asked us to sort it out (literally stood there and just stared at me while asking me to sort it out). Oh, no steak knife for the steak either. Asked me to continue to use my dirty / used utensils (which I can live with) but at least bring me the proper utensils for the meal... And they misplaced check (with my credit card) and had to wait even longer for them to find it.
Food: i had their fish “sea bass”. It was not good... It was improperly seasoned. Or it had gone bad. Either way I had couple bites and left the rest untouched and definitely did not get it to go. It was a bad dish. Server didn’t say anything while clearing out our dish either.
I do not recommend this place.
Food was delicious. Highly recommend the scallops, branzino, short rib and Brussel sprouts. Nice server, easy parking. Great spot close to LACMA.
The cheese plate was borderline inedible and the ceviche tasted off. The fish may have gone bad. Not sure.
We were going to have an entire meal here but decided to cut bait. We paid $100 for our cheese, ceviche, and 3 drinks (2 cocktails and 1 mocktail). We left and finished our dinner at Republique. It was sad because it's so close to our house, but at this moment in time, in this town, in this area, and at these prices, they really need to step it up. Lastly, 80% of their seating doesn't have backs on the chairs. Republique is similar (65%?), but we're willing to suffer it out for the quality of food.
Vegan and gluten free waffle was a amazing!!!!!!
Great menu and prices, super nice staff. Great drinks, Food good, a bit spicy for my taste - never had Bolognese with heat before! Server was amazing, music a bit too loud, but were older :(
Not memorable. The food was only decent, the decor/atmosphere nothing special.
this was the 4th or 5th time at Commerson. Waited for 10 minutes before a server arrived. Place was not crowded. Upon arriving the server wanted to get on with ordering food....never mind the drinks. Informed the server of the situation. The manager...assume manager...came over and apologized and we seemed to get back into a comfortable meal. Food was good, as it always has been. Hard to recommend but will, and hope the service improves.
Ordered seared scallops and loaded baked potato and both exceeded my expectations. Both were very delicious! The service was nice and it wasn't too crowded during our visit. Somewhat of an expensive place but nothing that would break the bank. Would definitely visit again.
Slow service and average food.
My party had an excellent experience at Commerson. We are local regulars and having been going since they opened. Over time the restaurant started to go down hill and we had several meals that were not up to our standards. But happy to say now that they have a new GM, Rachel, and she is doing things to make Commerson amazing again. Thank you for your attentiveness Rachael. We will be coming back frequently and can not say enough good things about your level of hospitality. I would highly recommend Commerson!
Good, quiet place for brunch on a Sunday. Good food. Great truffle fries.
