Please call the restaurant for reservations over 5 people.
The food here is stellar. We were there on a Tues eve so it wasn’t too crowded - which meant it wasn’t as noisy / loud as it can get on a ‘weekend’ type eve. Also our waitress was super delightful, helpful & attentive. There was a little problem w the parking be cause the entrance by the restaurant wasn’t open. Great food. Great drinks. Not cheap but pretty on par for the quality served.
Our server was fantastic. Some people in my group were a little difficult with regard to their cocktail selection and our server handled us kindly and gracefully. I am appreciative of her help. Thank you
Great service. The food is fine. Very noisy outside.
I would not come here again. The restaurant was empty but still our waitress did not keep track of our orders and the sides never came out until requested twice. My manhattan-style drink was watery and cost $15.
I am upset I did not know about this place when they opened. Great experience.
I dream about the pork chop. So delicious. Although a little loud, the whole experience was great. The food is first rate and the service was excellent.
Delicious food in a casual atmosphere with top notch service.
How was Commerson? Amazing as always. We love the food, we love Morgan (the entire team is friendly and on it. We "take advantage" of the happy hour - sort of a steal. So order some non happy menu and tip the awesome team well. Cant say enough good things about this place.
We will go back!! I just wish it was a bit more intimate. The food and staff were so nice to accommodate our party that got bigger. Food was delicious.
Really good food and $20 bottomless mimosas. The burger was delicious, the wagyu steak and eggs were perfectly made, and the french toast was a great brunch dessert. Service slowed a little when it got busy but that can be expected. The hostess was welcoming and accommodating.
Got an early reservation, got there right around opening. Parked on the street. Had a drink at the bar for happy hour. Then we had the beef pot roast and the scallops, which I've never had before. I am now a fan of seared scallops. I also had a glass of very nice cabernet. Overall, this was a nice dining experience.
It was a birthday celebration for us, so we wanted something special - it was! Scallops were delectable; NY steak juicy and flavorful. The before dinner drinks were very well prepared, if a bit slow getting to us. We shared the octopus as a starter; that was our only disappointment - odd seasoning we thought. The apple tart was yummy and the HAPPY BIRTHDAY decorating the plate in chocolate was a lovely thought. The waitress was charming as was the hostess, both making us feel most welcome, even though we were probably the age of most of the guests parents! We wish the seats had cushions. Bravo to the chef!
We had such a good time, the food was outstanding and the vibe was great. The service matched the menu so it was an overall enjoyable experience. We will definitely be returning.
We were catching a concert at the El Rey which is withing walking distance. Commerson looked like a good fit for what we like. We started with the Red Snapper ceviche, super good. We shared the shrimp/chorizo burger, and the spare ribs. The burger was salty, and just soso. The spare ribs were AWESOME. We added some truffle fries, to the burger order and it was well worth it. The restaurant is a little loud, but it let you know the other guests were having a good time too.
Love the happy hour at Commerson! Great atmosphere, delicious food and wine, and a great deal.
Our sever was a pleasure!
Overall it was a so-so experience. The service is lacking but it may be because of limited staff on that particular day.
Great mid-city neighborhood gem! This is my second time eating here and it certainly did not disappoint!
This was a sub par meal and was grossly overpriced. There are many good places to get brunch in LA and Commerson is not one of them.
Outstanding. The best restaurant you're not eating at. Love this place!!
Everything was great, just a bit over the average price that was set on open table!
We had a wonderful time.we took the kids and the server could not have been more delightful and accommodating. This will definitely be one of our local family favorites.
Best overall restaurant
I went to the restaurant for the first time as part of the January 2019 DINE LA promotion. It was a great way to be introduced to the restaurant for dinner, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. The staff is well trained, professional and friendly. The ceviche was probably the best I've ever eaten, and the seared scallops with spinach and garlic were fresh and delicious. Both desserts that I tasted, the S'more and the Carrot Cake, were flavorful, fresh and presented nicely. I live in the neighborhood and I'm looking forward to going regularly. I think it would also be a nice place to take visiting overnight guests for a fine meal.
We went for the Dine LA menu after an event at the nearby Wilshire Ebell theater, and found it an outstanding value. The 3 course menu was excellent. My friend and I both had delicious pumpkin agnolotti in brown butter sage sauce, followed by scallops for her (3 but huge, tasty) and a Niman Ranch pork chop for me (excellent, tender, tasty). Good vegetable sides, also. For dessert, the carrot cake was wonderful primarily because of the candied carrots that topped it, a novel and delicious way to update a California standard dessert. I had the wine pairings which were very good and a good value for $25 (Trefethen Chardonnay, a good Pinot Noir and a sauternes for dessert). Everything was well done. My only complaint is that the banquette seating along the windows is backless, so I took the wooden chair. Backless seating is not my idea of comfort during a 3 course dinner! The restaurant was not as crowded as it should be, so hurry up and support it!
We enjoyed good food and good service which made it perfect for us to gather and celebrate a birthday.
Amazing food, service was good. And overall experience was absolute pleasure
Restaurant was too dark to see the menu. Otherwise, I will go there again. Food was excellent.
We love Commerson and go on a regular basis. Cocktails are fantastic. As for food we love the salmon, scallops, chicken, ceviche and just about anything we order. (We miss the salmon poke and kale salad!) Casual enough for every day, but with enough ambiance and food creativity to make the evening special. The staff is friendly. The parking is easy and convenient. Could be a tad brighter and quieter for older folks (we sometimes bring my mother) but that hasn't kept us away. Definitely worth a visit.. or two or three or four!
Our party of four (4) had a great time! Service, ambiance, and menu was delightful. I will definitely be back for dinner and possibly brunch. Cheers!
Service was great and the food was delicious.
Absolutely everything was delicious! We celebrated a birthday and it was amazing !
Great happy hour menu and drinks. Free 2 hour parking in the back garage with validation. Cute for casual date night or drinks during the weekday
Loved everything about this restaurant except the TVs hanging over the bar which I find a little distracting in a dining environment. Everything else was excellent!
Wellllll, I think this is a case of having a great thing and either not having faith in it or not knowing how good you were so you changed everything.
They had an excellent chef when they opened and my favorite Ceasar salad in the city.
But this time this was a new menu with the same high prices but not offering anything worth the expense.
I could tell they no longer had their original Chef
But the servers were very good, very attentive.
My favorite drink they make is a spicy margarita for $15 dollars and even with ice, they served me only half a glass full. They have done this in the past and it's a shame because, even at that price, I would have ordered a second had they actually given me a full glass.
And this new menu is not the same quality or selection and I thought the prices should have changed to reflect that. My food was ok but unmemorable. Sadly I will not go back. this was my 5th time there.
Harper was incredible. Attentive, helpful and so funny. She made the night! Definitely coming back just for her!
This is a gem. The food is fantastic at any price, but if you go for happy hour, you'll get the same great food for way too cheap for the high quality. This is the kind of place we need to do well. Great service.
Food was great. Loved Earl, our very good service person. Good find.
Enjoyed dinner here before a performance at the El Rey.
Service was attentive, but not overbearing and wiling to share honest recommendations.
The food was really good, with healthy options throughout the brief choices. Definitely would try again when in the area or would recommend to anyone.
Good value for the cost.
Fantastic food everything we tried was delish! Terrible service!! The restaurant was not packed and it took at least 20 minutes to get drinks refills or even a glass of water. It’s too bad that the service ruined our experience. Also note that if you are doing brunch they close at 3 to prep for dinner. We had a 12:45 reservation and had to rush out by 3:30 to allow the restaurant to prep
