Columbus Fish Market - Grandview Ratings and Reviews
Was told we could order dinner from the lunch menu but the food wasn’t prepared well at all. The asparagus wasn’t cooked and salmon wasn’t done properly etc. I’ve eaten there many times and it was good so my advice would simply be this, when it’s lunch time order lunch not dinner.
Surprisingly great seafood place in landlocked Columbus. My wife had a cod dish "Shanghai Style" that she rated "B+," i.e., very good, and I had grilled mahi mahi with double spinach, which was excellent. Service was friendly and enthusiastic. We "made a note" to eat here again next time we head across country and find ourselves in Columbus.
Our reservation was set at 9:15 however we didn't get seated until 9:45. Once we were seated the staff had to tell us that multiple items were now not available. I have been here before and have had better experiences but I was a little disappointed for how expensive things were.
Came here for New Years Eve for a nice dinner. Place as you can imagine was very busy. Our waiter was excellent all night, although he was busy.
The food: started with a couple of appetizers, we especially liked the Crab and Artichoke Dip. That was excellent. We also had the BBQ shrimp in bacon. For me, I think it killed the flavor of the shrimp, but it was ok.
Main course: I had the sea bass while she had the surf and turf. Sea bass was good, not great. Mashed potatoes and rice were good. However, we had a problem with the surf and turf. Ordered medium, came out rare. Waiter sent it back, but when it came back, it was still rare. Management took the meal off the bill, which was nice, but obviously that wasn't ideal.
Desert: Honestly, the carrot cake looks great, but there was something missing. I wish I could put my finger on it, but I can't. It wasn't bad, and its huge, but it wasn't as good as I had hoped.
All this said, I'll probably go back at some point, give them another chance.
Seating preference kept which we always appreciate. Service very good. Still have best lobster bisque I have found in the area. Rated food only 3 stars as food was not hot. Fish was luke warm at best. Only item on my dinner that was actually hot was zucchini. Food tasted good just needed to be hot.
I have dined here numerous times but found the last experience to be below par for this restaurant. The food was not as tasty, service was not as good and the men's bathroom was cluttered with no soap in the dispenser. My girlfriend commented that the women's bathroom was also messy and that only one of the sinks worked.
Food was great, server was good. Had to wait awhile before we were initially greeted and 4 tables sat well after us were greeted and received their drinks before we were acknowledged, but once she got to us she was very friendly. Food came out very fast and made up for the long wait in the beginning. Overall a nice experience for my husband and I's date night.
Why do restaurants open on Christmas Day but are not prepared for guests. They had a 3 course fix price menu. One of the first course choices was not available, one of the main courses was not available, and the only two dessert choices where extra cost. We asked if management had substituted anything and they said no. The salmon we all ended up getting was thinly cut and dry. This restaurant needs a makeover with management that puts customers first.
We took our family of 12 here for Christmas. When we sat down at 7, we were told they were out of filets and salmon so we ordered ribeyes. About 10 minutes later, we were told they were all of of ribeyes as well. This didn’t leave many choices on the menu, particularly for those who weren’t fish lovers. While our server was good, bar service was slow and I felt bad for our server because he had no control over the situation. Every time he came to our table, it was bad news.
Overall, this was extremely disappointing. We went to this location because we had gone to the one at Crosswoods the previous years and didn’t have a great experience. This year was even worse. After multiple tries, we won’t be back to either location.
Service was slower than it should have been. Waiter forgot my lobster tail that was supposed to be with my ordered Chef Special Christmas Eve. Brought it out 3/4 of the way through my meal. They did not charge me for the lobster tail. I always enjoy the restaurant, but was just a bit disappointed this visit.
There were five of us on Christmas Eve being seated. I noticed a round table nearby and asked if we could sit there instead. We were accommodated immediately. The server was excellent! The food was abundant and delicious. It was a very pleasant experience. We look forward to returning.
While food quality was excellent the servce was marginal. We had to ask multiple times for drink refills & one of our party didn't receive their entree until we were virtually finished with our meal. I'm hoping this was an anomaly as we've had good experiences previously but it did come during a business meeting which caused additional challenges.
