Columbus Fish Market - Grandview Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter, on Valentine's Day, took our order then preceeded to 'cater' to the other tables. we sat for quite a bit with only water on our table. WeO stopped another waitress to ask if we could get some bread for our table. She immediately got it for us. Our waiter did bring our drinks, and dinner.....but we saw more of the back of him than his front....because he spent alot of time asking all the other tables he had if their meal was good.. or that he was gonna bring them fresh warm bread when it becomes ready. After dinner, my husband pulled waiter aside and told him that our money spends just like anyone elses. We did tip, but it was less 10% because of the service....we normally give more than 20%.
We went here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We waited at least 30 min to place our order and then a little over an hour to get our main course, and when it arrived my husband’s food was lukewarm at best, and my Dad’s fish was on the dry side. They did heat up my husband’s food to his satisfaction and even took it off the bill, but it was very disappointing. We were there for a total of 2 & 1/2 hours which was crazy. In the end we had to flag down our waitress, who was extremely pleasant & trying her best, to please speed things up because we were all ready to go home. I don’t see us visiting this restaurant again anytime soon.
We usually get good service and this time we went for our anniversary , but didn't get our usual rose, card and dessert. Also, our waiter didn't remember anything-we had to ask for our water twice(and still never got my lemon), we had to ask for our bread and refills on our drinks. We were disappointed in our service and how small the Sharkfin pie was, but our food was wonderful.
Restaurant week in Columbus and it was not the Fish Market's finest hour. Although I had Open Table Reservations, I waited more than 30 minutes beyond my initial resrvation, although being there on time. I over heard someone being seated with a 7:30 reservation, who was eated when he asked. I then pointed out that I had a 7:15 reservation and was then immediately seated. I just could not figure out the rhyme or reason for how they were managignthe flow. Restaurant week offerings were reasonably priced and quite good.
We have been to Columbus Fish Market in the past, but this was the worst experience we have had there. I made a reservation for 5 and I arrived before the rest of my party. I was seated in the Captains Quarters, small room for private parties. The table and chairs in this section were plastic, stackable chairs and the other table was set for a large group that had not arrived. My family was late arriving, and I waited at our table (I was early and seated early) for over 20 minutes. During the 20 minutes, the waiter did not once enter the room. About 5 minutes before the rest of my party arrived, the other table was beginning to be sat, as they arrives, and there waiter greeted them and took drink orders right away, as they waited for their party to arrive.
Once my family arrived and was seated, the waiter took our drink and appetizer order. Our appetizer came out about 20 minutes after ordering, and we had not seen our waiter since he took our initial order Our drinks and appetizer were brought by someone else.
Once our appetizer was almost gone, the waiter came in, took our dinner orders and we did not see him again until our meal was finished and he checked on desert orders.
Our dinners were brought out 1 or 2 at a time with 5 minutes passing between my son's plate arriving (first) and any other dinner being brought to the table. I had the paella and nowhere on the menu did it mention that the dish included diced cucumber (absolutely hate cucumber). My son's parmesan chicken was ok, but the pasta was overcooked and did not include any sauce.
The other party in the room where quite loud, and it was nearly impossible for my family to hold a conversation. I understand that it is not the restaurants fault that the guests were quite lively, but seating 2 separate parties in such a small room is probably a recipe for a less than pleasant environment for the smaller party.
Overall, it was not a experience that I would expect at a restaurant of this level.
Our dinner was just ok. Unfortunately our service wasn’t fabulous, which I expect to be outstanding, given it is a Cameron Michelle restaurant. We waited awhile for our server to arrive initially and waited for service throughout our dinner. At one point, I had no knife and waited for our service to stop by after our dinner was delivered. He didn’t, so I had to get knives off the table behind us. Our food did make up for the poor service, dessert was on the mark. I really hate bad service, especially when our drinks were no work for the waiter (we got a bottle of wine).
The Columbus Fish Market has been a date night staple for us as a couple. The food and service has always been excellent. This visit, the service was as usual, but the quality of the food was not what we have experienced in the past. I'm hoping this will encourage them to get back on point.
Was told we could order dinner from the lunch menu but the food wasn’t prepared well at all. The asparagus wasn’t cooked and salmon wasn’t done properly etc. I’ve eaten there many times and it was good so my advice would simply be this, when it’s lunch time order lunch not dinner.
Surprisingly great seafood place in landlocked Columbus. My wife had a cod dish "Shanghai Style" that she rated "B+," i.e., very good, and I had grilled mahi mahi with double spinach, which was excellent. Service was friendly and enthusiastic. We "made a note" to eat here again next time we head across country and find ourselves in Columbus.
Our reservation was set at 9:15 however we didn't get seated until 9:45. Once we were seated the staff had to tell us that multiple items were now not available. I have been here before and have had better experiences but I was a little disappointed for how expensive things were.
Came here for New Years Eve for a nice dinner. Place as you can imagine was very busy. Our waiter was excellent all night, although he was busy.
The food: started with a couple of appetizers, we especially liked the Crab and Artichoke Dip. That was excellent. We also had the BBQ shrimp in bacon. For me, I think it killed the flavor of the shrimp, but it was ok.
Main course: I had the sea bass while she had the surf and turf. Sea bass was good, not great. Mashed potatoes and rice were good. However, we had a problem with the surf and turf. Ordered medium, came out rare. Waiter sent it back, but when it came back, it was still rare. Management took the meal off the bill, which was nice, but obviously that wasn't ideal.
Desert: Honestly, the carrot cake looks great, but there was something missing. I wish I could put my finger on it, but I can't. It wasn't bad, and its huge, but it wasn't as good as I had hoped.
All this said, I'll probably go back at some point, give them another chance.
